Only type of 'Tapestry' Bayo should be used to is the duck tape holding his legs to the bench on match day. Heck, the vacant seat in the dugout would do a better job as a striker.

Too soon. We haven't quite reached that level to be managed by a serial winner such as Southgate.

Said fan may be a 'post-2008 30 point deduction and the wilderness years for Scum FC' Watford fan, who actually has no idea about the hatred for the feckers (even though I personally am in the 2-man Band of Brothers camp with Andrew63 of hating QPRse much, much more...)

Just out of curiosity, why do you hate QPR more than Scum Town?

I don't know if this is a wind up but if GS was gaffer then he would be pragmatic and we would be difficult to beat . For balance we would probably not be a good watch .

Firstly, and most importantly, QPRse manager at the time and media darling Terry 'El Veg' Venables slagging GT off at every opportunity for his long ball game, and the media lapping it up.

Secondly, making the effort to travel down from Sheffield for the first home game of the new season (a night match) following our Cup Final defeat, to show my support, and their ****y mccunt fans all over town singing about said defeat.

Thirdly, going into the Rose and Crown and being told by the bouncers that I had to leave my scarf at the door IN MY OWN FCUKING TOWN!!! 'in case it encouraged trouble'...

Fourthly, and importantly, The Scum are Neanderthals, thousands of years behind us in evolutionary terms. QPRarse are weasels.

Thank you, I’d rather be a Watford fan than a **** such as yourself, albeit you do rather lack the warmth and depth.

    I’m just gonna say it.

L*ton are our rivals. For obvious reasons. And your reasons for it being QPR instead, are weird and frankly non-sensical.

The term, 'duck tape' predates 'duct tape' by decades. The term was due to the water resistant nature of the tape. People heard 'duck,' thought it must be wrong and erroneously 'corrected' it to 'duct' but no widespread usage of the tape in ducting is recorded.

There is a brand called Duck Tape, which makes all sorts of tapes, including duck tape, which is confusing, but 'duck tape' is the correct term.

Well. sort of. It certainly seems to have been the original term but less clear-cut that it is 'correct' today:

Read the Wiki link. Duck was indeed the original term, but it fell out of general use, which enabled the manufacturer to brand what had been prevously a generic term.

I'm surprised at you, accepting such a flip flop on the correct pronunciation of a term so meekly.

What next? 'Should of' becoming OK simply because of widespread usage?

    Fair point.

That said, searching on the web for 'duct tape' yields multiple brands but 'duck tape' just the one.

...because "Duck" tape is the established protected brand name and all the "Duct" tapes are just generic rip-offs riding on the main brand's coat-tails, the Kansas Fried Chickens of the DIY world.

But it was only trademarked as such in 1975, by which time the term ‘duct tape” was in general usage. So not the same, no.

Yes but I believe the term "fried chicken" was in general use before KFC registered their name too. Once you have a market-leading product you want a way to uniquely differentiate yourself.
PS I am just making this up as I'm bored and looking for a quarrel......

I once read that fried chicken originated in Wales and was taken to the American South via Welsh migrants. Not done any research on it though.

It's actually Scottish and West African in origin. It used to be called Fri Chicken in the early days. America adopted the idea and changed the name to "Fried Chicken" which is probably how KFC came to be so famous with the product.

If any of our coches should be under consideration for getting replaced based on the weekend it should rather be our recently appointed set-piece coach (assuming our players acted upon his instructions).
