I make this thread more in jest than seriousness, but let's be honest how much longer can we sustain our home form before we get beaten and it turns into our away form? It's not all on him, and the players' have to take the bulk of a lot of the poor performances.

Tom has some taken a lot of plaudits this season and rightly so but he seems to have a knack of playing favourites each game. He picks a striker who cannot score a tap in, plays an injured goal keeper today but his subs each game, the timing of them are not good enough and to late to change the game when we are more than one goal behind.

He needs to change his tactics because he of all people will know if this starts a downward trend that he cannot turn around, it's only going one way as the buck stops with him.

Pathetic away from home, but we need to persevere with TC. As I live in hope he will turn it around

Borrow someone else for the away games?

Again didn't help we let in early goals in both halves.

What gets said before the game and at HT?

We are a squad with a good number of tricky no. 10s but are blunted away from home because the no. 9s are inadequate. But this conversation has been held many, many times before.

    Well quite!
Although I wore it until we lost for the first time and then,as ever,it was dismissed.
I wore my Fiorentina shorts under my tracksuit bottoms,to no avail.
Perhaps it's back to leggings as Amy Winehouse almost sang?

Our heaviest defeat in a derby for over 40 years but ironically the last manager to lose one by that much was God in 26/09/1981, to the only team that finished above us.

But GT’s stock was already high following two successive promotions and him establishing us at this level (which 1969-72 had proved to be a real challenge). Rightly or wrongly, Cleverley is going to be judged more harshly as patience among fans is thin following two really disappointing seasons and two miserable relegations from the Prem, and the fact is that’s three away defeats by three goals to a team in poor form in a row.

I bet if social media was around back then he still would have got stick but obviously like you it's another poor result on the road by a heavy margin.

Doesn't matter who its against as such but this one obviously stun a tad more than usual

He should have started his managerial career in the lower leagues.

Why the hell are we giving the job to someone with no experience, and who is clearly thick too?

Sack this **** and get some highly experienced Italian in.

I think today was a real real bad day for TC as it's the first time fans are now actively holding him as culpable as the players.

There is no hiding from the fact that he is learning on the job, but in the main, we've been picking up points at home. But this feels like it's more been based on luck/vibes than any sort of tactical nous.
Away from home however his inexperience is more evident yet rather than learning he seems to be repeating the same mistakes over and over again.

Coupled with this, the team has a very weak mentality and the "leaders" are some of the worst for going missing - yet he persists on picking then. God forbid If we get stuck in a loosing cycle/relegation fight later in the season as I wouldn't trust them to be able to fight themselves out of a wet bag.

The next week is arguably the biggest test in TCs managerial career, the Leeds game can not be seen as a write off, and simple he can not afford to lose at home against Blackburn

Why are we letting him use us as his work experience? It's completely mental.

Teams are a reflection of the manager's leadership.

The hierarchy will be looking for a response after this as has happened following previous defeats .

As you say Leeds is an important one despite what sine might think.

The team can battle well at home so no real excuse why they cannot on the road .

Or at least look to have some organisation and control.

Leeds is more of a "must not play like today" sort of game, give a performance and turn up - give Leeds a football match. Even if we lose 2-0 but play well at get stuck in, most will be happy despite losing again on the road. Blackburn imho is a big game. Regardless of how well we seem to pick up wins at the Vic, Eustace has got them playing some nice football, and they bounced back today with a victory. Both games are not "must wins" yet, but he needs to show over the course of the next few games, he can get a sustained reaction from the squad, whose unity and connection to the coach and the matches have nosedived ever since we lost at Sheff Utd.

Pozzo went for him as he would be cheap as chips and would be happy to own cheap decisions in the press.

Cleverly has a 50% win rate this season, we’re currently 8th in a season many punters on here expected us to be fighting relegation, and fans are now beginning to speculate he should go and should never has been appointed. Amazing imo.

The worrying thing is that our great home form has largely been achieved by battling wins in games that could have gone either way. Our terrible away form has been as a result of being completely outplayed. It is far more likely that we will be unable to keep up that home form rather than suddenly start winning away from home.

100%. 8th place is fantastic with this squad and lack of backing but if our home form falls below outstanding it can change quickly. Goodness knows where morale goes if we take a 0-3 tonking at home, or a couple of home losses on the bounce if we continue to be annihilated in every away game.

I really like him but he’s slowly starting to make me hate him by forcing me to watch Bayo every week, never had less enjoyment watching a Watford striker. Even Gray was more threatening.

I just want to suggest that you don’t blame him for Bayo. He’s the only senior striker in the squad. That is not really his fault. The fact that he sent Rajovic (hardly the finished article) on loan may have been his decision, but neither Rajovic nor Bayo were his choices in the first place.

Yes didn’t Ismael kind of rely on the away form last season but once that tailed off he was toast.

I don’t think the players downed tools because they don’t like Tom as has been suggested elsewhere but there might be some asking if they will get a chance .

    Funny you say this…

As it was said to me that Pozzo was showing another manager (foreign but I don’t have a name) around VR on MATCHDAY whilst TC was still in the interim role. It was pointed out to Pozzo just how unprofessional that was and he was persuaded over time to give TC a chance.

I’m not convinced that Pozzo won’t get rid of Cleverley in a similar way he got rid of Edwards.

Is it amazing given the clubs track record on managers since Pozzo came in? I’d say it’s an entirely fair and sensible thread to be discussing.

If he was sacked this afternoon, would you really be ‘amazed’?

Jebbison has played more than enough senior football to be classed as a senior striker, despite his age.

And the fact is Cleverley has totally owned that transfer. And is picking Bayo over him. I fail to see how we can’t blame TC for Bayo.

Realistically our home form will dip, it’s pretty inevitable. Hopefully our away form will improve a bit although I suspect we will slip down the table. My point is that’s it’s silly for punters to be suggesting Cleverly should go based on his current season win rate which is at the dizzy heights of Billy Mckinlay. ( btw im not suggesting you said TC should go)
