I had a similar problem. I ticked both the tickets I had bought for the Villa match, one cat A and one cat B, and the download button was greyed out. When I only had one of the tickets ticked, I was able to download, and when it downloaded, it download both of them. Not very intuitive.

 

Ok, i tried that. It worked for one of my daughters' season tickets to download to my NFC app, but not the othet daughter's or mine. It doesn't allow me to distribute any of them.

I managed to send my friend his ticket by doing the following. I tried to download them from my laptop to see what it would do, as I would not have google pay on my laptop, as it's a laptop! When doing this it produced two links, one for google and one for apple. I then whatsapped the google link to my friend and when he opened it on his phone (that had google pay installed), The ticket went straight into his wallet.

When I downloaded my season ticket onto Google Pay I wanted to download my son's too (he's too young for a phone). I had to log out of my ticket account and log into his in order for the download button to work on his ticket. Now both our season tickets are in my Google Pay wallet.

 

Got tickets for myself and a mate for Villa, able to download mine, can't send him his! Joke of a system.

 

If he has a Fan ID, and you allocated his ticket to it, get him to login into his own account on the ticket site on his own phone and he'll be able to download his ticket to Apple or Google Pay.

 

When I'm sober and living in the real world I'm a software tester. I've found that downloading to a lappy without apps normally produces a link if it does not have an app to go to. It is a crud system. Not used the word 'crud' in ages.

 

This is a very useful tip. I have added it to my Stan Flashman wiki, as it’s going to be very useful as the season goes on.

Despite suffering many of the problems described by others, I managed to download the ticket to my Apple pay wallet. But today in Tescos, when I went to pay with my phone, the WFC ticket kept coming up rather than my credit card image. There was a bit of queue behind me so I didn't persist, instead paying by the physical card itself. Has anyone else experienced this, or successfully used Apple pay after downloading the WFC ticket?

 

Yes I have used Apple pay this morning and over the weekend after downloading my ticket last week so I didn't have that issue.

I was lucky enough to get to the Brentford game in December and one of the biggest issues at the turnstile was people hovering their thumb over the home button which meant their match ticket disappeared and their credit card was appearing instead. Saturday will be utter carnage.

 

So I can't see mine or the kids season tickets at all in the app.

Via the website I got a link to download mine to Google Pay, which I did. However there is no option to do this for the kids, so they don't have one. Of course the ticket office are busy and the phone system tells you to call back later.

Do the kids need to create a ticket account on the website and download them to their phones themselves??

The whole thing is a total and utter farce.

 

Tickets aren't going in the app, you need to sign in to the ticketing website from your phone.

***Edit - sorry I can see you went to the website as well, but making the point that the app is a waste of time.

 

As an 'old tech luddite' I contacted the T.O. early in the summer to request a physical Season Card, which I have collected this morning. All I can suggest is get there bloody early on Saturday, as my guess is it will be chaos.

A dozen or so people in the queue this morning, all having issues of one sort or another trying to set up their ticket. Lad on the counter was busily helping set things up on their phones, and escorting some of them to the turnstile to show them how it would work. I don't know why football clubs seem to think this is the way forward, I've seen/heard reports of problems with other clubs who have launched similar systems this week.

My sincere best wishes to all at the Ticket Office, they appear to have a heavy week's work in front of them.

 

Did they put up much resistance to you having a season card, out of interest?

 

I emailed them in early July for my dad and they replied within 24 hours to say they'd send a season card out. No push back at all.

 

No, I contacted them in early June to say I didn't have a suitable gadget, and had immediate response to say a card would be arranged for me with it likely to be ready during first week of August. Double checked with them last week to confirm that it would be ready late last week as suggested, and asked them to keep it for my collection today rather than have it posted.

 

Has the club made any announcement on whether need a covid passport/proof of negative test ahead of the game on Saturday?

 

The West Brom friendly with 3k in attendance was chaos so good luck anyone on Saturday with this stupid ticket app, just like everything else these days you as the consumer do half the work for them and they jack up the price as well.
£40 for a ticket for Saturday. £40!!!!! Football is going to die a death sooner or later if they keep treating fans like cows to milk

 

I've had one for about 40 years and still doesn't work. Download NFC bit is still greyed out

I had to reset the password on both accounts and it then worked

 

On my phone. My son has a phone but as he’s 11, he can be a bit of a nob and will either forget his phone or not charge it!

 

Any reason my away category is blank in my ticket account section? I’ve been cat B for years, but might have now dropped down to D, having not attended an away game since QPR away in the cup.

 

I'm in the same situation. Looks like I'm gonna have to create log ins for both kids and then download them seperately.

I emailed the club and got a one line response saying "it's all working now."

It isn't and anyone who doesn't have access to the hive mind on here or is at all non technical is going to be screwed.

This system is far from straightforward and the implementation amd communications have been abominable.

Villa is going to be a catastrophe.

 

My dad still hasn't recieved his, and is a bit nervous.

 

Finally mine has worked. The 'Download NFC Mobile Ticket' was greyed out until yesterday, when by magic it became live and allowed me to download to the Apple wallet.

There may be random checks for Covid-19 vaccination status, so those who have had a double jab will need to have the Covid pass downloaded to their Apple wallet also, obtained from the NHS app. There is a paper version also, which will be accepted, just as long as the QR code is readable.
