I don't really contribute much to the forum but, whoever posted these photos, thank you so much! Its been a while since I've laughed out loud so much.
I went to this yesterday with my other half. Despite the location, it actually was a really enjoyable day. The weather was perfect, the music was very good and even the food and drink wasn’t awfully priced for an event like that (£6 for a can of Madri- admittedly it wasn’t cold but was still drinkable). My girlfriend and I had a pizza and a can of Coke each and that was about £17 each which is a bit dear but not as bad as I was anticipating. Walking through the town centre before and after confirmed to me how much of a dive that place is. It’s utterly horrendous. Watford isn’t great by any means but compared to L**** it’s like living in Los Angeles.
The serious drinker smuggles half a litre of rum into this kind of event in their undercrackers. You'd have to be mental to pay £6 for a can of piss water.
Luton protesting that yawnmongers should play Orange instead of Yellow is just bizarre and reeks of their terminal insecurity. Pathetic town.
On the BBC highlights Chris Martin said something before playing Yellow along the lines of “The next song has nothing to do with Luton” (I think). Veiled reference to the rivalry? Seemed an odd comment otherwise (and an odd comment regardless).
At least in the article the BBC managed to get in a bit of the 'real' L*t*n. I'm surprised they didn't edit this to have sunlit fields with rainbows, rather than leaving a view of a rubbish strewn field. Which sums up the general area. At least listening to a song with the word Orange in has made some people's year.
It just shows their lack of musical knowledge... and taste. They could have sung Led Zep's "Tangerine."
Chris Martin is such a twonk for agreeing to this. What next......... it was all green to pander to Plymouth Argyle?!!!
I only watched Vampire Weekend on the BBC footage, but two of their band members had Luton Shirts on!
Before the event I thought they were the most dull, whiney and overrated band of all time, with a c*ntish lead singer with the IQ of a pencil for marrying a quack and calling his kid Apple, and who relied on marketing and gimmicks like flashing lights like kids birthday entertainers to win over simpletons and become famous. This hasn’t really changed my perception, but I hope it’s brought the simpletons back to reality.
Or do a cover of 'Dirty Old Town' or perhaps 'The Laughing Policeman' with a backdrop of the Final League Table.
