Is that what they were called? I simply remember them as Spangles.

Old ladies with a blue rinse perm, thick glasses, false teeth, a sort of waterproof hair hankie thing and a shopping trolly.

They were a regular accompaniment for me at matches at Vicarage Road during the first GT era.

That reminds me of those chocolate cigarettes you could buy from shops for kids. How they got away with that back in the early 1990s still amazes me. Talk about promoting a bad habit from such a young age! It took too long to take them out of circulation.

Yes it was them, chocolate thin sticks but wrapped in a white paper and sold in what heavily resembled a cigarette box.

i know. I used to laugh as a kid when I bought them and then held them like smokes. I also remember they used to come with a card in the box.

I won a couple of packets at the funfair on Croxley Green a few months ago by shooting them off a shelf. Either you can still get them, or the carnies just have a stockpile of 30 year old sweets.

I believe they have a use by date of 3052. The half life of those sweets was circa 150 years.

True, but when I was younger, I always dreaded my Grandmother coming over with her "Rolo Easter egg". Nothing wrong with that in general, but Rolos had to be the most boring chocolate. Plus, they stuck to your teeth like superglue.

I had one in my old place. But as soon as HDR and OLED screens became mainstream thanks to LG, they sort of vanished. For what it was, it was decent for the time it was released.

I was thinking about this the other day. Remember that weird, awful period where they started making loads of films with pointless, gimmicky 3D effects?

What a terrible time in cinema.

3D only really works for animated films, for live action only the things in camera focus were OK, anything out of focus, particularly something in the foreground, would look terrible.

I remember Jaws 3D. That was the only way to sell that tacked on and awful sequel, I guess.

But there was a more recent resurgence of 3d gimmickry about 10-15 years ago.

Not quite 3D, but I have memories of seeing a movie as a child called Earthquake, which I recall was shot in something called sensurround which was supposed to make you feel as if the whole cinema was shaking.

    Anybody else recall this?

I saw something Marvel related in the Planetarium tacked on to Madam Tussauds that was 4D. It was quite impressive.
