A new season awaits. Undoubtedly with the usual suspects at the top and the usual ones in the fight for survival and that includes us. The diabolical fine imposed on the big six was pitiful in it's size. Fingers crossed somehow in the near future it all implodes and we can get back to some normality in football. Ben White. Fifty million to Woolwich. The world has gone mad.
Generally attackers bring in the most pounds. Which is perhaps why clubs for example in Argentina are more focused on finding or coaching the best attackers to fill their coffers. But certainly defenders can bring in the shillings if they are deemed good enough. However when you compare White's fee to similar players in age and who are probably better Woolwich have done themselves again. Brighton will be more than delighted. Good business for them.
It's a staggering amount for White. I don't think he's worth anywhere near £50m. Brighton will be laughing, he's played more matches for Leeds than he has for the Seagulls.
Good business that for Brighton, they have plenty of decent CBs already and should be able to use the fee to strengthen in areas more needed. Could be annoying as they'll of course be one of the teams we'll be hoping get dragged into a relegation scrap.
Just stupid money on White. Great business for Brighton. They will be literally laughing all the way to the bank. I do wonder though if the £23mil they spent on Mwepu is because they knew this deal was happening. Think they will concentrate all their efforts on signing a £20-30mil striker and they will be set for the season, annoyingly.
Very pleased to see that Moyes is showing an unhealthy interest in signing a likely surplus Phil Jones from Man U. If he is successful and pairs Jones with Dawson at the back, the 'appy Hammers might just be returning to the right end of the Prem table as far as we are concerned. Surely Moyes can't be stupid enough to install 2 carthorses at the centre of their defence...can he?
