I can’t wait for the mental gymnastics this will take to justify, that we’ll surely get from the Geordie fans. Where’s that one who came on here trying to defend it?

Years ago I think it was John Barnes who said racism at football was a symptom of racism in society and until racism was tackled properly in society, it would always spill over into football.

Well until the world refuses to condemn the Saudi ills, why the **** would the responsibility to take a moral stand come to 100 thousand geordies with Shearer tattoos, whose only aim is to compete at football?

Apologies - Arsenal of course have one home vs Everton and one away vs Newcastle remaining, not 2 away games. Spurs have Burnley and Norwich. I'd still put my money on Spurs for 4th spot though.

I hope Arsenal get it, as the empty seats at the vic when our fans are at CL games will teach Gino a lesson.

Disappointed there isn't a firing squad motif on it, standing on a mound of executed civilians.

Reminds me a bit of a white walker out of game of thrones. Looks nothing like Aguero either way.

If Arsenal don't get 4th place you can only say they've bottled it. They already did to some extent in the North London derby which often ends in a draw which would've kept them four points clear and only needing another win - perhaps it's because they have a young squad and the occasion got to them?

They're more than capable of winning at Newcastle despite their good form (but you could have said the same in the games at Brentford, Everton, Palace and Southampton and the home game against Brighton) and I don't think Everton are capable of grinding out a result there (they need to make sure they get the four points against Brentford and Palace which would guarantee survival).

No watford Fan knows that much about Arsenal fixtures. At least you have a team in each division to follow again.

We should of got one of Deeney scratching is @rse like he did so often on the edge of the box. :D

I don't like it - and it's not as though Aguero did anything to the level that GT did for us over his time here. But I guess it gives City something extra to claim they have over Utd.

Newcastle fans react the same way that our fans react to to a journalist calling us bad or a former player predicting we’d lose. With girlish shrieks and accusations of jealousy.

Had we been taken over by this group, 95% of our fans would be acting the same.

I know nothing about this club, or French football really. Are they a French Sheffield Wed, or a Bristol Rovers - what’s their natural historic level?

Appallingly bad. There's no realism in it. The great sculptors capture likenesses and emotions like Praxiteles and his ilk and the Roman copiers right through to people like Thorvaldsen and Bernini.

If you want a proper representation do it properly in marble (although vulnerable to the elements) or bronze. Anyway it just reflects badly on the artist (looks like the work of a hack) and just shows what a tinpot club UAE are. How many more statues will they have ? Will it be like the Terracotta Army attraction.

I mean Kun is a great player. The best to play for UAE and probably the best striker to grace the PL so in a way it's justified. But even his expression when looking at it says everything.

Does anyone else find it utterly bizarre that Chelsea are wearing an all-yellow strip in the Cup Final v Liverpool?

It is. Chelsea's blue never clashes... maybe it's a rule of one in home and one away, I am not sure. Good game so far, Liverpool on top but Chelsea are coming into it.

BBC will hope for a goal soon otherwise they might have some scheduling issues with Eurovision.

Good final, decent pens. Great save from Mendy to take it to sudden death but the outcome is heartbreaking for Chelsea I am sure. We were still there waving our flags.

Annecy is more famous for being the Town for the home games of Evian TG. As you can guess by the name, their sponsor were the bottled water company and Danone dairy produce. Evian TG had some great kits. They were the modern day RB Leipzig. Totally reliant on the company money.
They tried to move Geneva. The City has a French quarter, but the French FA would not allow it.
Evian TG were relegated from Ligue 1, then finished bottom of Ligue 2.
The sponsors pulled out and the club went bust.
Unlike the English FA, the French FA will act without reservation if you cannot pay your debts or break FFP. Ok, we all know that there are ways around this rule.
FC Annecy is not Evian TG by another name. Annecy FC were liquidated in 1993 and then reformed and placed in the lower regional league.
Annecy were French Amateur champions in 1960. Were last in Ligue 2 30 yrs ago and were in the lower leagues prior to the early 90's.
There were 13000 fans in the stadium last night.
The surface is grass, but has the atmosphere killing athletics track.
The are the flag waving representatives of the Haute-Savoie region, but skiing is still King.

Did not bother watching the FA Cup final for the third year in a row. It's lost interest. So eminently predictable who will win it or end up in the final. Yawn.

I watched it once the play-off game was finished, but it just felt like I’d seen it all before. What a shame. The best finals years ago were when a relative minnow (even from Div 2) took on one of the big teams. In those days they had a chance of winning.

How many times has a team below the top flight even got to the FA Cup final since West Ham won it in 1980? I think the most recent was Cardiff in 2008, preceded by Millwall in 2004 and then Sunderland quite a way back in 1992. Has a team below the second tier ever got to/won the final in anyone's living memory?

  35. WillisWasTheWorst

WillisWasTheWorst Its making less grammar mistake's thats important

No. I think the best a third tier team has done is the semi-final, e.g. Plymouth v us in ‘84 and Chesterfield in the 90s. For a long time the high water mark for 4th tier teams was the quarter finals and for non-league teams the 5th round (last 16), but this was beaten in 2017 when Lincoln as a non-league club made the quarters under the Cowley brothers.
