Just want to point out that 29 points would have seen survival in the Prem this season. 29 points over 38 games. That's appalling.

Continues the overall downward trend for the survival tally, although that's the lowest ever. On average it must be hovering around 35pts these days rather than the 40pts often touted.

Generally the Championship has been the same, it was often said 50 would usually be enough but some seasons 44 would be enough and Leicester went down on 52.

How many did we finish above Brentford?
Can we transfer them to next season?

Depends how you look at it, if you were in Fulham's position with the same goal difference then 39 points wouldn't have been enough to survive, so assuming we finish above the other promoted sides, we've still got to be looking at 39-40 points to survive.

People say you collapsed but Spurs weren't going to roll over with European football at stake and it seems Bale coming on made the difference.

A lot of disgruntled fans on their forum though despite the win (I guess they were still reeling after their home defeat to Villa during which their team was booed off). They don't seem a very likeable bunch - a lot of swearing, abusing fellow posters, players and Ryan Mason and many of them were glad to deny you and Rodgers the CL (why? What have they got against Leicester and him? Obviously the latter makes sense from our perspective). Are many Spurs fans like this in real life? I've met a couple who were pretty decent, took a genuine interest in Watford just after we'd been promoted back to the Prem.

Who knows, football fans on the internet isn’t it... The last thing that happened is always the biggest deal.

They’re the butt of a lot of top internet bantz because they never win anything so any chance to piss on someone else’s chips is gleefully snaffled. Arsenal are similarly tragic these days but do have a lot of silverware from during the Premier League era so I guess that manifests itself in fans turning on their own players and coaches, often with amusing consequences (bruv).

Presumably it's because Spurs were title rivals with Leicester a few years ago?

I know a number of Spurs fans and quite a few are sensible, balanced people.
Some of the others however are quite happy to give out abuse, especially to Arsenal and WHU fans but are very sensitive when it is returned.
One young man I used to coach even went as far as to announce that Spurs were building their new ground to enhance English football and that we should all be thankful for that. He does want to become a football journalist however so you can see the link!
All clubs have ninnies don't they but in this area Spurs fans tend to proliferate so a fair proportion of saps abound I suppose?

I'm sure most fans of "the big six" are just regular normal people, but those clubs more than any others attract tw@t5 like a magnet. If you are one, you are far more likely to support Spurs than Brighton or Fulham for example.

I must say most of the likeable Spurs fans appear to have morose tendencies, especially about their team.
I keep telling them they are an entitled bunch of sour pusses but it doesn't seem to cheer them up!

Reading about this competition that Spurs have qualified for I can see why they aren't very happy.

They will be playing in the newly introduced UEFA Europa Conference League (sounds like the Football League or even FA Trophy of European football!) mostly against clubs from second and third tier leagues and they'll have to win it to get in the Europa League unless they finish 5th or 6th next season. (But wait a moment? What if both the FA and League Cups are won by non-top five sides? Does the ECL place go to the team finishing 5th or one of the teams winning a domestic trophy? Why needlessly complicate things, UEFA...)

Because they're good at complicating matters?
Most ngbs, committees etc fall into this trap more often than not I fear.

Pretty sure the Europa Conference League is the prize for winning the League Cup these days. So if it's won by a non-top 5 side, that side gets into the UECL.

Damn. I may feel differently when it actually happens, but for now just the satisfaction of finally winning that elusive cup is more appealing than the prospect of going to matches played in front of 3-4k people in backwaters in Latvia or Belarus.

It’s not a fine though, it’s it? It’s a ‘gesture of goodwill’ by the super 6 to acknowledge their error - just not a very big gesture.

@Filbert I've heard it said that spurs fans would rather stop Leicester qualifying for the champions League than finish in the top 4 themselves. Utter b******s. Every last one of them.
