Well shut my mouth Lib Dems gain so much more than I predicted I see that little sh*,t weazle Owen Jones , is sticking the knife into Starmer as we speak. Diversity is our strength but only if we are on the same side Good to see prominent Tory no marks losing their seats Meet the new boss same as the .......
I see that Miliband has put a stop to new north sea oil drilling. At the moment this seems to be unclear if this is just new licenses, the current licenses that are in process and what the impact will be. It has definitely caused a stink with the SNP and oil industry in Scotland who are ranting about the number of direct and associated jobs that this could effect. There seems to be a media belief that we are going to have to import fracked gas from America and import more oil and coal from China, America and the middle east. Suggestions that we are going to be reliant on Russia i think are way off the mark. Is this going to prove to be a good thing? Like most government things, its still very much a head line without the meat on the bone being known or announced. ** Always worth a footnote that Miliband supported Just stop oil and Labour took donations from Dale Vince
Wasn't this the Telegraph's big shyte-stirring splash yesterday? Ultimately it's just the manifesto policy:
I'm not sure where it all stared, but there are more than one outlet reporting this. Like most things there is no smoke with out fire. As i say we need to know what's actually going to stop, when and what the contingency is going to be.
Hmmm but isn't the government statement pretty clear for now? No new licences. Existing licences unaffected. Reform of North Sea oil and the transition away from it was in the Labour manifesto so it's pretty pathetic the Telegraph and the National (SNP) papers are falling out of their tree in shock.
It's the one with RFK in the mix that shows the biggest shift. Last week it was 40% Trump, 39% Biden, 11% RFK. Now it's 42% Harris, 38% Trump, 8% RFK. Seems like RFK's support was hiding some of those protesting against Biden leading the ticket but who could be persuaded to 'come home' now he's stepped down. Realistically though first impressions count and despite being VP, Harris is still pretty undefined in the eyes of the average American voter outside of California or Washington. If the polls still look like that when early voting starts in the swing states though it'll definitely be a close election.
They are playing a blinder at the moment. They have to be united behind her, as I have been saying since before she was 'confirmed'. I am not so sure that they have all that unity, as per the Schumer Press Conference absence of enthusiasm, but if they can prevent any open rebellion from grass roots around the convention, they could be on to a winner. Not my choice, but preferable, as a human being, to Biden, who was not only demonstrably a racist, but also so demented with age and illness that he was clearly a puppet of some some Democrat cabal, and the most divisive President, possibly, ever. IMHO.
