She is amazing, last 16 and now last 4 in her only two slams.

The amount of power she gets with her slight frame is amazing, and she does seem to have some sort of mental strength, despite what we saw when she had a wobble at Wimbledon.

What on earth are you on about? We just came fourth in the world at the Olympics for heavens sake!

You can't hide your hatred for this country for long, can you!

Power comes from the timing. Think Henin!
Someone once asked me if I was BJK!
Apart from wearing a USA t shirt and having spectacles and in tennis kit I was confused!
Eight inches taller, blond, twenty plus years younger but hey!

Meanwhile the completely energized and exuberant Monica Niculescu is in a third set doubles qf on Armstrong.

Maria Sakkari "channeling her inner Sparta" according to Robbie Koenig is a set up on Pliskova and moving like a bullet train.

Another slight surprise as Sakkari beats Pliskova?

Isn't it great to see Raducanu playing such fearless and carefree tennis. Zero unforced errors in the second set wasn't it? Amazing.

Yes, but am I right that she naturally plays with a high percentage of positive/offensive strokes rather than defensively chipping and/or slowing it down? I have always thought that, overall, Murray had better results when he played that way, but seemed to be more cautious most of the time.

Maybe the level of confidence plays a big part in how they approach their game?

Spot on. One of my mates used to call Jo Durie the queens daughter as she was in the papers so much for doing so little. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see this young girl win the thing, but now the pressure will get to stupid levels and may well cause her some harm down the line.

    ...and she's Canadian.

As @Clive_ofthe_Kremlin will doubtless be aware, we were still behind Cuba in the table when taking into account GDP per capita.

I expect you’ll be wanting to heap praise upon that nation.

Yawn. You said that before. Repeating it doesn’t make it true. Your posts indicate that you seem to have a problem with almost everyone in the UK.

Everyone wants to talk about how well a rookie Brit is doing in the US Open, but then Moose sees his opportunity and launches into his anti-UK stuff again.

But you are right, I should ignore it.

My post #1644 was about the problems of elevating young sports stars to instant superstardom. Unfortunately someone chose to take that as an attack on all he holds dear.

You won’t hear more from me on it. :)

Wow, what a performance from Emma just now. 6-1, 6-4.

Tactically perfect, relentless and mentally strong - and still not even dropped a set.

First qualifier, ever, to reach a major final.

One of life’s little moments - history made by an 18 year old qualifier who’s won 18 sets on the spin to get to the final of the US Open playing under the lights for the first time...

She appears to be someone who can take the pressure that will now be heaped on her..

A final against a much older veteran of the circuit lol :D

Well done Emma, - er - one of our own ...

    Well what can you say.

Another really convincing win against a top ranked player .

    Amazing.

Wowsers, that was really something. Tremendous play.

Let’s hope the occasion of the final doesn’t get to her, not that each match hasn’t been an occasion so far.

The final should be cracking as it's between two fearless teenagers, shame it's on Prime which I don't have.

For breakthrough or debut seasons, I'm now putting her on a par with Lewis Hamilton who nearly won the F1 Championship in his first year.
To me her great asset, apart from her talent and the fearlessness of youth, is the ability to concentrate so well with absolute focus throughout a match. Then of course at the moment of victory she is delightfully astonished at herself for having won.

You might be able to get a free trial or pay £1 for 7 days. Though that may also mean come Xmas time when Watford will have two games on Prime you may not have the same offer available.

Stayed up to watch the NFL along with this match. Have to say as much fun the gridiron game was this performance by Raducanu was awesome. She turned her opponent into a manic grunting mess while keeping her cool throughout. Amazing.

I know this has been said everywhere, but I thought Boris Becker was a qualifier when he won Wimbledon.

Has lived in the UK since 2 though so Britain is all she knows really. Compare and contrast with "the most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history" who was born in Somalia to Somalian parents and moved to the UK when 8 not speaking a word of English.
Fantastic fearless performance and an infectious smile, seems to be really enjoying it all and taking it in her stride. Whatever happens in the final she's already written her name into the record books.
