I fear you may be disappointed.
Jack Draper to cause the biggest uproar on CC since the Duchess of Kent locked herself in the Royal Box lavatory?

You have to feel sorry for Konta, but it’s faintly humorous for a British player to find a way of getting knocked out of Wimbledon before the tournament even starts!

I feel similar to how I felt when I learned that Mount and "Chigwell" as some sap on TS called him. I'm just amazed that they have been in contact and put themselves and in this case Jo's tournament at risk. I suppose people get complacent?
She is a player that has a one dimensional game and most of the tour have worked her out. On her day she can serve you off court but most of the girls just try and make her play one more ball and more often than not she smacks it into the next postcode.

Not a bad effort from Jack Draper by the looks of things.

Tsitsipas is big trouble - guess the French Open took a lot out of him and his opponent isn't bad.

    Cannot see Murray winning sadly.

Murray has earned the right to compete for as long as he wants.
However for him to say he beat the no.28 player is slightly disingenuous.
It may not please the Little England brigade but a large percentage of the tour see Wimbledon fortnight as an interruption to normal proceedings. Grass is so small a stage on the tour that players don't invest the time, especially as RG was a week later.
At this stage, especially as most of the tour won't have played on grass for two years, there are only about four people in the draw that can win it. One of them,Federer has had so few matches that it almost certainly rules him out. Another,Murray, simply hasn't the body to last seven matches.
That leaves Djokovic and probably Berrettini who has had a week's practice at Queen's.
Tsitsipas,by not playing a warm up event cannot be surprised at his feeble performance. He probably should have done what Rafa did and scratched a week ago.

Andy Murray - £100m in the bank, lovely family, got a Sir before his name and has a metal hip. Still wants to just play tennis.

One of, if not the greatest British sportsperson ever. Scottish or not.

And the good news for him is the next round opponent has to play tomorrow - 9-9 in the 5th set.

THE most important aspect for any athlete is to love the game.
    Murray has this in abundance.
Albeit that only six more games maximum and then a tie break.
Will replace the practice that the winner will have had if it had been completed yesterday.

Two bad injuries to Serena and Adrian M forcing their retirements.
The grass are always slippery in the first couple of days and with no play last year it is worse this year.
Murray plays Otte who took Zverev to five in the first round at RG.
Great entertainment late last night from Kygios and Bolbo Baggins aka Ugo Humbert.

I really hope she continues to flourish, but wouldn't it be great if we could see a black lad born and raised in Brixton, say, tearing through the draw? I wonder how many decades away that is?

The eastern Eiuropean diaspora doing well. Canada with Pospisil in addition to Shapovalov and Kudla seeming to find form and of course young Korda. His dad had a bit of a thing with drugs back in the day. While the Russian women are not so strong at the moment although Samsonova is doing well the number of Russian men seems to be increasing. Medvedev, boring Rublev and Khachanov there seem to be several others climbing the rankings as well. Poland too and Belarus.

Raducanu took 8 games in a row and was a set and break up although just lost her serve.

    Been very impressive.

    I wouldn't take AT on!
Called out Ostapenko for just the sort of behaviour I was blethering on about a fortnight ago.
    Good for her.
She may not be an Aussie by birth but she talks the talk!
Great to see Barty with her fluent all court game.
I hope to see her and MB on CC tomorrow but I'll probably get Low Fat!
I shall be dressed as DP Gumby singing "FCH" "Oh I've got my head stuck in the door Mr Gumby!"

    Yep nailed on wasn't it?!
Low Fat on CC and RF v Sonego and Gauff v Kerber.
Oh well, first world problem to be slightly disappointed at that, not to say ungrateful.

    A great day.
Garin had glimmers of chances but nothing really substantial and ND's accuracy and athleticism is unnerving.
Sonego will rue being 40-0 up just before the rain, only to double fault, slice approach and have RF rip a forehand and then push forehand and do the same for RF to hit a backhand up the line. The rain came at ad out and he then double faulted again to lose serve.
Kerber gave a superb demonstration of controlled and thoughtful matchplay, completely deconstructing Gauff with brilliant returning and focusing on the erratic forehand of Coco. Hugely impressive from Angie.
A sad end for Radacanu but AT was never going to roll over.
Heartwarming to see so many goldfinches and other birds nesting in the CC ivy!
A close run thing did Gill Brook talk more than the ladies in front of us consumed Pimm's and Stella? Hard to say.
The incessant cries of "C'mon Coco' from some half wit behind the Royal Box became laughable. He must have shouted it three times per game if not more. SHUT UP!

Difficult to tell on the tele IBB, but do you think Emma's problem was psychological rather than physical, maybe found the pressure a bit much?

Great effort nonetheless, and a future top 10 or 20 maybe?

I was astounded at the power these women players have these days, even Radacanu was powering at the ball, and only 18, but then I was first brought up on players such as Francois Durr.

  32. WillisWasTheWorst

It was interesting that McEnroe seemed to assume that Raducanu's problem was psychosomatic and illustrated the pressures top players are under and have to deal with. Of course he knows a lot about it but she didn't strike me as the sort who would succumb to that pressure. She seemed very confident and had already played on a show court. I would have thought it was more likely that she had a real complaint or illness that caused her breathing problem.

I remember Francoise Durr as the most French of players with the softest serve you've ever seen.

Tennis David said JPM thought it was and the emotional energy she would have used waiting all day to play would have been considerable.
Notwithstanding the amount of media coverage she was creating. When we arrived outside the AELTC Jon Snow was asking anyone and everyone if they'd heard of ER so she had a lot to deal with. Nigel Sears had said she froze at Nottingham when there were fifty people in the crowd so you can understand her reaction.
Just so and the rest of her game was hardly text book,it always amused me that she became Tech Director of the women at the FFT!
    Brilliant doubles player though.
Kerber rolls on and plays Barty. Im sad that Jabeur lost.
I'm no fan of Medivet but tough on both him and HH that they had to finish yesterday. I can't imagine they wanted to delay. I would have thought it should have been switched to CC on Monday after RF and LS finished.

So Low Fat will be the favourite against MB.
The question is can MB serve out of a tree for three sets against the best returner ever?
It's possible but ND has to be strongly favoured.

Barty likewise against Pliskova who will need to keep serving equally as well as Berrettini.

Joe Salisbury and Harriet Dart into the mixed final. Will Mrs D EVER shut up about this?

I shall see,our next two Middlesex league fixtures are against Cumberland 2 and 1!

    Oh crikey!
