The latter I believe, I think in previous games if two wolves go to kill the same person they reveal their identities to each other. I’m not 100% sure if there’s an extra caveat don’t think I’ve ever played a game with potentially 4 wolves but that’s how I remember it.

Ah, the ‘I know you are but what am I’ defence.

Any player who’s played this game a couple of times will find someone who gave wrong information and changes their mind when challenged multiple times is more suspicious, than a player who questions that wrong information.

Especially on day 3 when team evil tend to start playing more aggressively.

Have our Team Good found anything substantial to eat yet. It's only the evil ones getting a feast right now as the stars shine.

    Ctulhu - good
    Harrow - good
Me - unconfirmed for the rest of you, clearly one wolf and the Guardian thought I was good though

There are three wolves. It's very unlikely that all three will be bold and throwing theories/poking the hornets' nest as that could draw attention to themselves.

Can we narrow down the pool to the quiet/non-committal players from the previous two days? Likely to find at least one wolf in there.

    First Message

Good morning, my fellow crew members.
Unfortunately we got incredibly unlucky last night. My viewing of Casettti’s Beard showed him to be Evil but in the night summary he appeared Good. This can only mean he is the Tinkerer in a cruel twist.

I went for another suspiciously quiet but doing just enough player today in WatfordTalk, unfortunately he is Good.

    Jerejef.

Well done to the Guardian, SLB did you get into any confrontations yesterday?

If we find food - which we will do eventually I am sure of it (ala the line "give it time"). What we need to do right now grieve for the ones we have lost and try to keep our spirits up. Being shipwrecked is going to take it's toll on us all, and we have the Guardian to thank for last night especially.

Well the pattern of languages is at least clear now...

Can't believe how unlucky the "Seer" was to view the tinkerer (ahem)

    Jerejef means "thank you".
    It's a Wolof Senegal phrase.
    Wolof =Wolf?

First message is from a wolf.

Chances the plan speaker messages are the seer and he found the tinker are low.
We have to go with our pirate friend being the seer.

Points perhaps to an inexperienced alpha in doubling down on the tinker angle rather than copying pirate speak

I think you've made too much sense and helped team good too much to be a suspect, and aside from Cthulu and Harrow you're pretty much bottom of my list.

Now you've been protected, it would only be worth considering that you might not be Good if you're still alive in a few days time.

Why would they leave a clue that they were the wolf?

It would be a bit weird of the wolf to give clues he is the wolf.
But I do agree first message today in my view is the wolf.

  16. Burnsy

I suspect that’s too easy a link and is maybe coincidence? I doubt a wolf would make it that easy to deduce personally.

Good job guardian! Not much to go on so far, but miked's theory about dom is interesting

Not that it probably means anything, but the final phrases and languages of the suspected wolf's messages:

E dupe – Yoruba (local language) Nigeria

Takk skal du ha – Norwegian

    Jerejef – Wolof Senegal

  19. Diamond

    Non committal.

I think the seer is an experienced player and the pirate stuff is tough to replicate, so another random stab in the dark by the wolf today.

Who was noisy in day 1 and much quieter on day 2?

  20. With A Smile

I find this a bit bizzare to be honest.

As Cassetti's Beard was called out as evil last night, but died as good knowing the chances of 1 in 20 ish of being the tinker, we are pretty certain that the 2nd message was from the wolf.

We spoke a lot yesterday about the two different message styles, so why wouldn't the wolf do the logical thing and copy the style of the 1st message ?

If this is the seer, then why would they have viewed Cthulhu on day 1 (2nd message) after he had already been called out as good? And the chances of picking out the tinker on day2 - in a 1 in 20 ?

The 2nd message better be good

On day 1 I viewed Cthulhu, and on day 2 I viewed Harrow Orn, Arrr.

This Sannino quote stuff keeps coming from a Guardian article written by Simon Burnton. Any significance there?

I think if we're playing the odds, the first message is from the wolf, and second from the Seer. The clear pattern in messaging styles remain, but no player named evil, per Day 1.

Change in wolf tactic after yesterday's message backfired? Or do we think CB was actually the Tinker?

Am I right in thinking the alpha knows the identity of a fellow wolf? If so is there a chance they have tried to bluff us by naming the other wolf in a message as good?

  30. Burnsy

Obviously I would say this - but I am good.

So (again, obviously) the first message is the Wolf in my opinion!

OK - throwing it out there. At the start of the day, WatfordTalk was on my list as a too quiet player.

Harrow and Cthulhu are good in my eyes and based on my belief in which message is which, so is Burnsy.

I think we'd have to be very unlucky for the Seer to have picked the Tinker and the 1st message today seems to be designed to confuse not help.

It also seems like the assumed wolf messages are from an inexperienced player, which might explain them trying to clumsily clear WT, who posted soon after despite hardly posting at all (I haven't counted posts so I may be wrong on that).

Who's with me in lynching WT for a starter for 10?

I have wondered if WT has just been lurking in the background - and then done the ‘apology for being otherwise engaged/I forgot’ thing every now and then when it’s become apparent there’s no suspicion on him.

    1. We don't know which 2 wolves know each other, and I don't know why you don't know this.

I do know that a good traitor tactic would be to push the fact that the person named as good by a likely wolf, might be suspicious.

    2. You've again said "the other wolf" singular. I'll repeat. Online forums say to have an evil for every 4 villagers. Most games attempt to go on for 4-6 days.

We started this game with 24 players. If we started with 3 wolves and a traitor, evil had the perfect game, all picked different good villagers every day to kill and the village didn't vote out a single wolf (unprecedented), it would still take 4 days for team evil to win. If one wolf was picked off in the first 3 days (very likely - as happened in this game), it would take 6 days even if no other evil was picked off (again very unlikely). Odds are that's an 8 day game.

It is true that we could have started with 3 or 4 wolves. But stop pushing the theory that the traitor is dead, because we do not know if it's true (and as I've explained above, I'd suggest it's unlikely).

    1. In the write up it says larger wolf, this may suggest the alpha was the one who swiped the head off of Heidars shoulders.

    2. If that's the case, the alpha knows who the second wolf is. The third wolf is not part of the equation as their identity is not known.

We don't know how many wolves started the game, Opti may have scaled up and added a fourth wolf but we do not know for certain. I haven't brought the traitor into the above thinking I am going from the write up where it mentioned a larger wolf.
