I'm hoping he'll do a good job, gets us promoted and stays on after the summer, mainly as I go to Croatia most years and it'll be nice to have something else to chat to the locals about when talking football.

His record since leaving West Brom is hardly convincing but will certainly back him now he has come in. Just hope he isn't sacked after getting on the wrong side of Giaretta.

Perhaps this is what will unite the fans, our mutual recognition that he's an ugly *******. In his younger days he has the look of that Ramsay chap from Game of Thrones I think.

Has to be a big improvement on Rob Edwards to be honest who was massively out of his depth.

I knew it was coming for Edwards as soon as he had a post match interview and said those immortal words “ I saw some positives out there today” Didn’t he realise that there is no such thing for some of our squad…….

He has a record in England of
    Played 176
    Won 68
    Drawn 52
thats 1 win every in 2.6 games
or 1.45 points a game, that's the same as Edwards has got
36 games left he needs at least 72 more points, 2 a game - his record doesn't suggest he is anywhere near that - https://www.thestatszone.com/archiv...in-the-championship-playoffs-efl-skybet-10696
At West Brom he averaged 1.52 points & thats not enough to get us promoted

    He'll be gone in Februay

Would work quite well for him tbf. I bet he’s got loads of punditry lined up already.

Not saying Bilic will be a success, but it's very unfair comparison, considering his WBA statistics include PL games with a horrible squad. His Championship record is much better than Edward's.

    Good stats.
We are in danger of going down the American sporting route.
Gareth Southgste believes in stats, stats and more stats. Even if England have lost, on paper Southgate feels that we have won.
The ball in the back of the net more times than the team we are playing is all that counts.
I feel sorry for Edwards, but it was awful, slow, unadventurous football. He was not helped by a terrible playing squad.
    Can Bilic make a difference?

Then you can equally say thats an unfair comparison given Edwards was given just 10 games.

    Perhaps, but
    1) It is easier to have a better ppg with less games.
    2) It is still a bit unfair to say that Bilic's ppg isn't good enough to get us promoted, as his Championship ppg is pretty decent.

Again, not saying Bilic will be a success, he may end up being worse than Edwards, but posting his stats like it is a bad thing is a bit absurd. His stats are fine. Whether he's the right man for the job is a completely different question.

Good. Used to like him when he exposed Wally MacLaren. He's gone downhill since.

He’s a yes man and that’s why West Ham took him on until the Payet debacle. West Ham fans disliked him immensely because he never had a plan B and defeats we’re always someone else’s fault never his. I wonder if it was Duxbury who brought him in as they both were exWest ham buddies?

On paper, it's a good appointment, he has an excellent track record, but, with our history of managers, and with the relatively recent appointment of two men who were here for the paycheck, it's hard to get too excited, not to mention basically every issue that held back Edwards still remains

It definitely wasn't "much better", if it was better at all.

Looking at their team from that season, along with number of games they played:

Johnstone is probably better than Bachmann, but even he is now a reserve keeper at Palace.

Defence that has Ajayi, Bartley, Furlong and Connor Townsend isn't much better than our defence, not sure it's better at all.

Further down the pitch they had players like Livermore(bang average), Krovinovic(went back to Croatian league), Romaine Sawyers(bang average as well). Their star players were Matheus Pereira(plays in Saudi Arabia) and Grady Diangana(3 goal contributions last season in the Championship). They had players like Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu playing around 40 games. Our midfield is clearly on par with theirs, while our attack is much better. They also didn't have a single player of Sarr's or Pedro's quality, or of Asprilla's potential.

A decent appointment on paper but I really just don’t care any more

We could have replaced Edwards with Pep and it wouldn’t make a difference. Whole club is rotten and my remaining emotional attachment is circling the drain
