I see that there are still a number of Bayo admirers For these characters here is a question .... You have to bin off one of these players Bayo Chak Vata Baah So, which one are you binning off ?
Depends who they are being replaced with. Top of the tree to get an upgrade on would of course be Bayo, Jebbison was meant to be the upgrade but the thought of “he can’t be any worse than Bayo” turned out to be wrong. Bayo will go in the summer. Not fussed in the slightest about losing Chak. Would like us to build around Vata and Baah for next season.
I thought Bayo was ok first half, fell away second half. Chak is all fart and no poo. Between the two of them they offer pretty much zero goal threat.
I agree that Bayo contributed a few nice touches for 30 minutes or so during the 1st half . But they were all in the middle 3rd and were of no danger to Plymouth. Whereas Ryan Hardie was a constant nuisance in or around our penalty area
Who are these 'Bayo admirers'? General opinion seems to fall somewhere on a spectrum between 'he's no worldbeater but not as disastrous as often portrayed' to 'he's an absolute abomination and the worst thing since the days of a lack of sliced bread'. Next to no one seems to offer an appraisal which could accurately be construed as 'admiration'.
Bayo has already been sold to Udinese, and has been loaned back to us. Of course that does not mean he will definitely go back to Udinese in the Summer, but surely we will not be daft enough to extend his loan for next season??? Having said that, you never can tell what Gino might do!!!
Are Udinese short on strikers or their current ones even less reliable in front of goal ? Otherwise will they want him playing in one of the top leagues in Europe and potentially Europe.. As for the question- of the other 3 I thick Georgi might go but not sure Cleverley likes Vata .
Quite the opposite. I’m told Cleverley, and the club, see huge potential in Vata. Need to keep in mind it’s his first season, and his illness has put him back a lot. He still looks off the pace. Expect we will see a lot more of him next season.
I don’t think they exist. I don’t recall ever seeing a player have a fan base so hysterical before. I suspect a “Bayo admirer” is anyone who doesn’t slag him off at every opportunity. He’s not very good, but it’s become fashionable to point that out during and after every game regardless of what he does. Worst player on the pitch yesterday - Andrews Second worst - TDB Missed a one on one - Baah But but but BAAAYYYYOOOO booooooo!
And Rajovic suddenly gods gift ! Didn’t Doumbia miss a one on one v Millwall too ? Ah ok . Also probably seen as a bit lightweight maybe but definitely has the quality if given the ball and space . Probably be more productive than Georgi .
Bayo is out of here regardless. I am sure he is a lovely bloke but his football ability and goal scoring mentality is beyond abysmal especially for the second tier. Like I said, nice bloke but terrible at the one part of his game he should be good at. Chak I really do not care either way. @Chumlax made a fair argument yesterday that if we lost him who do we replace him with? Looking at the options we would need a player who could run with the ball out of defence and into the final third, but hopefully one who is not terrified to shoot or run down blind alleys. Vata and Baah for me, are in the must not lose category. Baah is a great talent and yes he missed a good chance yesterday but when he came on we looked like a top ten side, not a bottom six side hanging on for a point against the division's weakest side. Baah is young and hungry and I expect is very far from the finished product. I would say the same about Vata, although with him he needs to calm down a little bit and take a second to think about why he shooting from distance instead of picking a pass, getting the layoff then having a better chance of scoring. He's certainly got something about him and I hope we continue to develop that.
Exactly this. Baah and Vata are the future, I'd be far more bothered about losing one of those two than anyone else. If by some miracle we kept Louza as well I'd be delighted but you couldn't begrudge him a move and I think he will go. If we can find someone stupid enough to part with big money for Chak then hopefully *some* of that will go towards a striker.
Come off it leighton, seriously - Bayo missed a free shot from 6 yards so badly it didn't even connect, a free header from the same distance, and an open goal. You're taking the piss framing this in such a way to suggest that Baah was at fault in front of goal in even at all the same way as Bayo, let alone having shared or surpassed any of his failures in yesterday's game.
I'm just saying he missed a one on one. Vata should have also scored with his chance. Bayo should have had a couple. All three of them should have scored.
Irrespective of the dreadful performances of Andrews and "new contract" TDB, to frame Bayo being some kind of blameless scapegoat after watching yesterday's game is frankly unbelievable.
Who said he is blameless? He clearly was at fault - as I said above Bayo, Baah and Vata all should have scored.
Your first post is poorly written and gives that impression when read without the follow up post. As you were.
Because he continues to stink the first team out into year 3, there is no guarantee he won’t return on loan and let it never be forgotten he was bought not in our club’s interests. This episode should never be forgiven.
......and just for the record I don't blame Bayo for our striker predicament. It is the fault of those who believed that , despite the evidence that showed otherwise, Bayo was the player to lead the line . He is clearly out of his depth and has been ever since his arrival. He has provided 1 potential assist for the rest of the team since mid December . Yet some still point the finger at the players who provide the chances for Bayo to score . As I have already said , how do a group of attacking midfielders improve their assist ratio if the main striker has scored 1 goal since mid December ?.
Who and where are these Bayo admirers? I saw someone else mention it but didn't see anything in the main match thread or shoutbox? Do you have any links to anything? Why would anyone bin Baah, Vata or Chak who all play out wide with Bayo more than likely leaving in the Summer?
I’m only aware of two. Manat, and the other poster who thinks Bayo is the conductor of an orchestra just not suited for the championship. Oh and I’m sure there are quotes for Tom Cleverley eulogising about him! But apart from that slim pickings these days.
Ah right, so there isn't any Bayo admirers then really. The question really should be like for like, so a list of those that played in that central striker role this season: Bayo, Doumbia, Jebbison and Kayembe. Feel a bit sick after writing three of those names as our striking options this season.
Suppose the question is would people have been happy to see Bayo go and Rajovic stay or is there a lot of in hindsight thinking now ?
Happy to lose both but also don’t think Pozzo will invest much at all so we could easily end up with another pair of duds. But got to better to twist at this point.
If it was one or the other I’d definitely have kept Rajovic. At least he regularly buries half chances. Ideally someone better but proven strikers are too expensive for us and TC put all his eggs in the Jebbison loan basket.
4 points off the play offs. If Rajovic had stayed then I have no doubt a couple of the home draws, including Saturday, he would have nicked a goal and turned a draw into a win. The spreadsheet enthusiasts were just as giddy about Jebbison as TC was, but letting Rajovic go and bringing that donkey in is undoubtedly a shocker of a decision.
