That's what they mean. The will let you know if you have been successful and managed to get off the list. If you're fairly unlucky you get to stay on the list, if you're really unlucky you have to purchase a season ticket.

Working from the low baseline set by the season just gone, next season has to be more enjoyable.

Blimey, they must be desperate if they've got to me on the waiting list, I laughed and said no thanks.

Applied a few seasons ago, maybe 4 seasons back and had forgotten about it. I'd of got a ticket had I been offered one for the last Championship promotion season (obvs not poss because of covid) but after the car crash of a season we just had I'm not interested, there's also the way the club has acted off the field which has also put me off over the last couple of years.

Will attend a few home games and probably a fair few away games next season instead without the commitment and someone else who cares more can take my place in the ballot.

I like having a season ticket after so many years it gives me a sense of entitlement to criticise the club and team.

Yeah but the electronic ticket system makes it harder to throw onto the pitch in disgust.

Yes true, I liked the old paper one where the turnstile operator tore out your match ticket. Another career like hand loom weavers that has gone forever - Technology eh, don’t you hate it.

Ah but for every grumpy turnstile operator put out of work, two officious but completely incompetent stewards have been employed. That’s progress for you.

I’ve been on strike since early February and I renewed. Suspect the big drop off might come if this coming season descends into further off field chaos, financial problems and failure on the pitch.

I think most supporters will remain loyal as long as one of 2 things can be taken from the season:
    1. Promotion
    2. or, if not, clear evidence of reconnection between team & crowd coupled with development of a discernible style and consistent approach to football matters.

Obviously, both would be ideal. If it's neither, I agree that things could nosedive quite dramatically.

Championship average attendances are pretty decent. Football is still a very popular spectator experience. Huddersfield averaged 20,000 and Coventry 19,500. So I think even a couple of seasons where the team is top six and playing attractive football would not result in a big drop in attendance.

Crowds will just go back to what they were when the Pozzos first came in at a more natural level .

When I first started going in 1992 10k would have been a larger than usual crowd.

After the GT Premier league season we saw average gates of more than 11k.

The issue will be as @Since63 says if we keep under performing then fans will turn away.

It will be “VIPs” and sponsors not paying thousands a game/season for Wigan and Rotherham at home to on a Tuesday night in October to host clients that will hit them hard.

Not unique to Watford, but apart from the discount by giving them your money three months up front. Season ticket holders don’t get a lot for their commitment. A proper consumer business would be investing in the season ticket product with added value, and leveraging in that commitment shown by season ticket holders to grow the business.

As a season ticket holder I actually might like to buy a special rate corporate hospitality package for friends and family for Wigan at home on a Wednesday night.

That way they could insulate themselves a bit from decline if on field performances dip.

This relegation season saw recorded average attendance 20% up on the Boothroyd relegation season. I think it would take a few poor seasons to slip below 15,000. But that’s just speculation, with economic times getting tougher, and an unknown brand and style of football.

So, i renewed in the end. My dad wanted me to, and as a last request I promised him I would and that I'd continue to hurl abuse at the team on matchday in his honour.

I contacted Richars Walker and he's been most helpful. I'll he hurling abuse at everyone except him and Harry the Hornet next season. I'll still be moaning about it on here too.

    RIP Dad.

Agreed. If I’m in charge of marketing at Watford FC I’m doing what a lot of companies and sports organizations do here in the States.

    - 10% of all merchandise purchased at checkout.
    - £10 gift voucher for Birthday and Christmas
    - Families that have 4 or more family members with season tickets get a free family tour of Vicarage Road (Obviously this will be done in groups of 50-100 approx). They will have the chance to meet a couple of players, coaches and executive staff.
    - Certain games a year will have a free limited addition giveaway where the first 500-1000 season ticket holders through the gate at that game are handed the giveaway.
    - Family/Friends games. Certain games that won’t see a sold out attendance (normally midweek games) are selected for season ticket holders where there family or friends can join them for the game at a discounted ticket price.

I have a few good friends now that work in the Sports industry in the States, specifically Texas, and they either run the marketing department or are a part of it. It’s their job to increase season ticket holders every year. What they come up with and do is crazy. I’m not saying it will all translate over, but some of the stuff certainly would.

Years ago the big benefit of being a season ticket holder was the home Cup tickets that were included and priority booking of away Cup tickets. That was what made me get one in the first place. Nowadays that would mean nothing because no-one cares about the Cups any more. :(

I think the main current advantage of a ST is guaranteeing your seat of choice every match and also the guarantee of getting into the 'big matches', be that league or the later stages cup matches. Having no interest in buying football-related tat, most of Markoa$'s list would have little impact on my decision, although it probably would for younger fans & family groups.

I've just received my second season ticket direct debit notice schedule. This time monthly payments are three quid less! Is this advanced compensation for the sh1te we're about to be served?

I had the same thing happen, though my second one arrived a couple of weeks ago. Very confusing but hadn't thought about it again until you posted this. Figured I just wait and see what the first payment was and go from there.

I buy 3 STs (mine and my two 'adult' sons) so I've had a flurry of messages. It only just occurred to me to actually open the attachments which is when I noticed the difference in price.

I forgot I had put my name down on some kind of waiting list for season tickets. Anyway, the club called me today and asked if I'd be interested in buying one. Availability all over the ground. Tempting as it is, I might say no this time. Although the thought/potential of a Tuesday night game under the lights against Rotherham in December is sorely tempting...
