Now under the stewardship of a new manager, Ian Culverhouse, and assistant manager (and Saints legend), Paul Bastock, St Albans City take on Truro City on Saturday afternoon in a National League South game at Clarence Park. Kick-off is 3.00 pm. The Saints squad includes a Watford loanee, defender James Clarridge. He has started the last two games and looks a very accomplished centre-back - and played a key part in the Saints 96th minute equaliser at Worthing last weekend. The clubhouse and 4 pitchside bars will all be open. Chicken George, Riot Burgers, The Pie Guys, Nomad Coffee & Crepes, and Italian Indulgence (Moka coffee and a variety of pastries) will all be in attendance too. Tickets are available at the turnstiles and also online: https://fanzone.stalbanscityfc.com/product-category/match-tickets/ Hornets Season Ticket Holders get concession-priced admission
Saints were really disappointing towards the end of last season after reaching the play-off final the year before and seem to have carried that form into this one.
St Albans really in trouble after throwing away a 1-0 lead by conceding two late goals, the second of them in the dying seconds. Even if they’d won they’d have been five points from safety. That said, it’s still more than half of the season to go and they were playing a very good side - Truro’s win put them two points from the top, albeit in a incredibly tight promotion race. Carlisle thinking of a midweek winter trip to Truro (a round trip of 870 miles!!) must give them cold sweats at night…
Quickest Train journey is 8.5 hours, should they choose that they would need to travel the day before and then return the day after the match! Lets hope Carlisle get an away trip to a southern club a couple of days later to make it worth their while!
