The point is your first comment implied that the owners would have been otherwise unaware about what the fans wanted, and that it somehow required the fans giving Andrews an ovation to send that clear message. But Wilder's earlier comment strongly suggested that the owners were already well aware of what the fans wanted - and in fact by playing Andrews and giving Adeyemo a contract were themselves already sending a message that they understood it.
Didn't he mainly get a standing ovation as the announcer pretty much told us too? All the other substitutions were just "x replacing y" but she raised her voice and said "show your appreciation for NUMBER 57, RYAN ANDREWSSS!' and because we're all easily influenced we got to our feet rather than just giving him a polite clap off whilst sat on our arses.
She didnt need to raise her voice..... was screeching out from the start. Where an earth did the club drag her from ? Not keen on Richard Walker doing the rest of the announcing either
No I don’t think so. That was a genuine moment. An awful season, full of overpaid mercenaries who don’t care about the shirt. The fact Andrews represents a positive part of the club that’s been broken for so long, combined with the fact we were winning lent itself to that moment. Almost an outpouring of relief I’d argue.
Careful now you'll upset Lowerrous and his bizarre theories that have the sum total of zero evidence to back them up.
Yeah but that wasn’t the implication of my post. I should know - I wrote it. I’m sorry you’ve wasted your time chasing down a dead end. Probably easiest next time just to ask me what I meant
Hmmm... then answer me this - what would be the point of the fans "giving a clear message" to the owners if the owners already knew what the message was?
Careful now - some mod just claimed in another thread that you're not allowed to take shots at other posters.
Have you ever attended a football match? In fact, have you ever been in a crowd of any description? At this point it’s as if I posted “I think the fans were all chanting the referee’s a waanker because they were unhappy with a couple of his decisions” and you reply with some press interview with the referee from a few months ago where he disavows masturbation and says it’s a mortal sin. You say I’m wrong. And then you go on to ask me “what would be the point of the fans giving a clear message to the referee that he’s a waanker when it’s clear he’s opposed to waanking?” It’s like you’ve got no semblance of the emotional nature of a football crowd. I’m done by the way. Feel free to have the last word.
We want to have our best prospects play for us, but they need a pathway if we want them to stay or they'll rightfully move on to club's that offer a clearer one. This is one of the very few positives from being relegated as the club now can't afford (quite literally) to ignore this source of players and are forced to address this. We're seeing Andrews, Morris, Blake, Hungbo and Ademayo demonstrate they have what it takes to play in the men's game and put themselves in a good light for either good placement loans or fight for a starting spot like Shaq Forde has done. After watching Gaspar play RWB and Ngakia / Ferreira being injured for large chunk of the Season, it's one of the best feelings when watching us play to see one of our own do well. Still makes you pine for a player like Hoban, such a shame injuries ruined his career.
Maybe he wouldn't. Some people might want to play and make a name for themselves. I think there should be a cap on how much you can teenagers anyway
I did indeed especially when the posters are referred to idiots, morons and the like. And when that sort of behaviour results in posters leaving the forum. LR has not one whit of self awareness. Even if a point is indefensible like a politician he'll wrap himself up in knots trying to defend it. His condescension beggars belief even with respect to people like reids who are actually professionals in their field.
That was me. And if you choose to carry on insulting other posters that will be the case. Sometimes the bully needs to reminded of their place. Constantly berating others, pouring scorn on others opinions while even when proven wrong trying to pretend no mistakes were made. Your behaviour such as it is has already caused some posters to leave.
I can’t even work out what Rousey boy is needlessly arguing about, the fans weren't clapping him off to prove a point because they all read an article by Wilder which proves they don’t need to prove a point to the owners, because the owners know they need to play youth players to stop other youth players leaving because they know that based on Rousey boys individual interpretation of Wilders interview? Seems like a logical split second thought process for 20,000 people to go through in unison.
While I agree LR went too far with a couple of comments, this is coming across as a bit of a power trip.
Andrews have been very good two games in a row now We've been here before with Hodson, Thompson, Bennett etc. but can only judge him on what we've seen so far and he look more than capable at this level. I think hes more likely to have a career here than Morris is on the other side for example
I do like Morris, and he has barely put a foot wrong for us, but Andrews is a lot faster which will work in his favour
Yeah we will. There’ll be a new manager here in 5 games and blank canvas and fresh chances for everybody to impress yet again. Then the manager will work out who’s rubbish after 10 games but will be sacked by game 11 and there’ll be a repeat! Kabasele can’t wait.
I don't know about this season (knowing our medical team I bet Ferreira is out for the season!), but I'd rather persist with Ferreira than Ngakia, he's been here nearly 3 years now and just hasn't come on, Ferreira has looked bright in the little we've seen of him
Clearly we can't get rid of every player we don't want anymore, and I highly doubt Ferreira will leave as he's just got here
All of the three players mentions above showed some early promise but not quite good enough for us! Dale Bennett never filled me with much confidence he wasn't going to make a mistake, surprised to see he actually made 22 league appearances + subs for us has a good lower league career with Forest Green Rovers and Sutton and unfortunately retired at the age of 29 because of injury after making 276 career appearances. Lee Hodson 83 appearances again in the championship with us, always appeared to be ok but nothing more, has racked up a total of 233 appearances plying his trade from as far as Gillingham to Glasgow Rangers, currently playing for Hamilton Academicals in the Scottish Prem. Adam Thompson has made 238 appearances (10 in the championship with us) the rest in the lower leagues including 100 for Southend in league 1/2, last played for Orient of which he left last June.
Wiki as ever isn’t very reliable or updated but you are right. Congratulations to him and the Os. https://www.leytonorient.com/news/2022/june/07/adam-thompson-signs-new-two-year-deal-with-the-o-s/
Was a bit touch and go at times but we seemed to get by. Actually used the loan system (Cleverley, Lansbury )well and had a goal scorer ( Graham , Sordell ) or two and a couple of leaders though (Eustace )
