That's the folly of appointing a coaching team in which nobody has experience of English football, let alone Champ football. But it looks like Gino has got away with it this time.

Surely we're all conflicted in this way. We used to have a sport in which Ipswich could win the title and Watford could come second, but that was traded for live football on TV, better pitches, better stadia and better players from all over the world.

Best compromise would be for the top teams to piss off into a telly-watchers' closed shop European league and for us plebs to have a closed shop pyramid which the showbiz clubs would be permantly excluded from.

The nightmare though is a European league running alongside domestic leagues, in which the top teams grace us with their presence while ensuring that match results are even more of a foregone conclusion than they are today.

9 matches ago we worried we would end up being disappointed at NOT making the play-offs.

Fast forward to now, and we’d all be disappointed to actually make them.

How times have changed for the best!

I agree with some of your points particularly the top clubs clearing off however in recent seasons
Leicester have won the Prem , Portsmouth and Wigan have won the FA cup, Bradford reached the League cup final whilst in div 4 and both Fulham and Miserable Boro have reached the final of the Thursday night league.

Yes, but the big clubs thought Leicester winning the league was something that shouldn't happen again so they're taking steps to prevent it. Knockout competitions are easier to win because of the luck of the draw, and in any case the big clubs only care about the European knockout competitions - which doesn't stop them winning the domestic cups most seasons, despite playing their reserves until the latter stages.

Our usual routine is to hit the first defender. We must practice that a lot because we're very consistent.

The Javi season was quite a lot of fun right up until the wheels fell of in the last month or so.

This season has been a bit of a roller-coaster, started off alright, then looked like petering out, but it's been great of late! I know as fans we shouldn't really be thinking of it, but if we go up this season, it's a great chance to get back stable financially again and at least establish ourselves as a yo-yo team, stay down, maybe we can challenge next season, but there's a danger of us going back to being a lower table Championship team

    Oops. Sorry.

I agree that Cooper is the uglier of the two. By a long way. But I was always struck by Farke’s imposing and beast-like, scowling appearance. Perhaps the joy of winning this year has translated into a more attractive demeanour. I don’t watch his post match interviews this year and I’m going to stick with him being ugly. As is Pukki. And Cantwell has a very punchable look.

Pukki always looks unwell to me, Cantwell just seems like a fairly odd fellow in general. No real opinion on Farke

I can see the glamour clubs running B teams in our league at some time in the future, while their A teams compete in a Euro Sooper Dooper League. And still being too good for us to compete with. I just hope I’m long gone by then.

This is the second chance to make it five wins on the trot this season (no mean feat) Bournemouth put paid to it last time let’s hope it’s not another team starting with B who stops us!

In fairness there’s a one in four chance it’ll be a team beginning with B whatever’s at stake in the Championship!

The sign of a great side is one that can get winning streaks multiple times. Looking at the stats thread you can see the following win streaks of 3 or more:
    • 05/06 Streak of 6, 5 and a 3 - Promoted.
    • 12/13 Only streaks of 4 and a 3 - Not promoted.
    • 14/15 The streak of 5 culminating in that win at Brighton and 4 streaks of 3. - Promoted.
    • 20/21 A 4 and a 3 plus our current run of 4, all under Munoz's tenure.

    Brentford have also had a 4, 4 and a 3.

Swansea haven't had more than 2 wins in a row, as far as I can see.

Funny how Deeney got injured just after the clear the air talks that led to us playing this new formation without Gray or Mr. Watford in the team. I dont think Troy is injured, I think he and the club have come up with a way of him running out his contact but with him saving face as he can just say he is injured and not fat, slow and immobile.

Amazing that they're still in the mix. They've also only scored more than two goals in a game twice all season. Really feels like them and Reading are in false positions and really aren't that good.

Yes although it’s obvious one reason we have made 2nd is because we have stopped drawing games, which we were doing earlier in the season, away to Bristol City, Notts Forest, Sheffield Weds, QPR, Coventry and Wycombe, all those games we were not really in any danger of winning but oh how much difference it would have made if we had actually won a couple of them! You could also say the same about our home draws to Bournemouth and Brentford.

We haven’t been turned over by any team this year, with our biggest defeat coming away at Huddersfield 0-2, which was a very lackluster display with the first goal down to a Foster error! We are consistent now and (without boasting) where we should be with the team we have!

But we’d still want Toney if we could ..

They probably are a decent side just having a blip.

Don’t think we can write them off just yet.

They had a run of 1 defeat in 18 not so long ago.

People thought it was going to be easy at the start of the season and that was proven wrong.

Cantwell models his look on Disney heroines. He's got a better eye for a pass though.

  27. Well as long as any of ours don't test positive til Saturday evening, they've got 2 weeks to isolate then get a few days training in...

I guess it’s not even a knowledge of the Championship as much. More that how can a coach get so little out of a team, a number of whom are clearly above this level. I don’t buy into the ethos that you must have managed in the Championship or know how to get out of the Championship. I do subscribe to the idea of a coach getting this collection of players to play the expansive attacking football they are clearly capable of.
