Until next Monday night we can’t really judge him on tactics, team selections or use of substitutes etc. (Although I’m very confident about these)

What we can judge him on so far is his eloquence, communication skills, openness, positivity, and of course the way we’ve looked in the friendlies that are most relevant, namely the last couple.

For me he gets an A plus for those qualities.

Yes, the Fat Cat on Dereham Road is indeed recommended - but you probably mean the Fat Cat and Canary on Thorpe Road, which is on the Yarmouth side of Carrow Road. I knew it as The Mustard Pot - no idea when it changed.

There are obviously a lot of fat cats in Norwich, but Delia isn't one of them - even poorer than Gino.

The two Fat Cats belong to the same people, so unlikely to be much difference.

Dereham Road was the one I meant. Had my leaving do there after finishing at UEA.

I went to the club shop this afternoon with my son and grandson to get our picture taken with RE and RK and get them to sign a few things for us. There were a few hundred fans I guess that were there.

I wished RE all the best for the season. Like a few of us I also feel both are very genuine and engaging. Hopefully RE will be true to his words from that press conference.

Fair enough - I just responded to the thread as it read.
I’m intrigued by the word “continually”. Do you mean that they defend every action the ownership take, or that they only post when they feel the ownership deserves defending (staying silent at other times, when their stance cannot be deduced)? The two are very different, and I am very much in the second category.

I keep quiet where I do not know enough to opine on the situation, or where I agree with the general tenor, but do not feel I can add anything new to the discussion. I will interject if I feel that the consensus is not necessarily correct, and that there is an equally valid, alternative, interpretation. On this forum, such an intervention will inevitably be to defend the ownership/management/players/fans.

Interestingly you chose to define our entire fan base as “weird”, while in the same paragraph acknowledging that the majority of that fan base is not weird. I’m not sure that’s either fair or logical.

The people I am referring to be “continually” are generally on Twitter rather than here. They are like a team of internet policemen wearing their unquestioning loyalty as a badge of honour and stamping down on dissent. How they act against our club’s interests makes no sense to me.

I did have you in that category but to be fair you don’t post that often so your point about only interjecting if you disagree seems fair enough. Anyway we are way off topic so take this as a peace offering and let’s get on with our weekends.

Some on Twitter tend to have the Football manager type attitude to me

"Why can we not basically get rid of everyone and replace them all" at the click of a finger.

That’s true. But also worth pointing out the players generally being referred to (Cleverly, Cathcart, Kabasele, Sema) we could have just got rid of them had we not offered them stupid contract extensions. The relatively recent contract extensions offered to Kabasele and Sema in particular were simply ludicrous.

However as you say, now it is done we are pretty much stuck with them until these deals expire.

Overpaying for players, is similar to giving someone you have never met £12 million, throwing money away either way!

If you were the only one to have listened to a particular podcast , it would probably not be the first time that has ever happened in the whole of podcast history .

Rob Edwards came across really well yesterday at the open day. Really cares. Gets the GT mentality.

I heard him say to everyone that asked that the players are prepared to work hard together.

I really think this time we have found one to stick with.

That makes me the founding member of CORE

Our starting eleven on Monday didn’t contain a single debutant. So in other words, at a lower level I know, he’s come in and immediately got a tune out of a bunch of players who misfired so badly last season. Quite some achievement already.

Very very early days I know but so far he seems to have BOTH the positive and inspiring personality of a Munoz or Zola AND the coaching skills of some of our better managers of recent times.

    A winning combination.

    Hopefully!

Agreed.... and it also shows we've signed players who are no better than what we already had, spending £10/11m in fees in the process on players we didn't need. When finances are as tight as they appear to be, that is absolutely unacceptable. Watford are not in a place where they can spend £5m on a punt, yet this is what they've done twice recently. Neither have paid off (so far).

But your overall point is a good one, that getting the right coach is fundamental to developing players and a team. It's taken Gino 10 years to work that one out, which is extraordinarily slow learning.

While it's certainly too early to judge those two signings, I think it's clear than when Okoye was signed it was in the expectation that he would become our first choice keeper, given that Foster would be leaving and possibly Bachmann too. However, since Bachmann hasn't gone, it's entirely legitimate for the manager to pick him as first choice at the moment and I think we now have two keepers vying for a place in the team, which can only be good. The Bayo signing, on the other hand seems a little odd but right now feels like the backup forward that Fletcher was previously and who will be expected to step up if/when Dennis or Sarr are sold. It remains to be seen if he can do that, but the price tag does seem high for that backup role.
