Will people please stop posting stupid emojis :eek:and using them as an excuse for making hurtful barbed comments - :(
And then claiming the `emoji` defence.

A bit like making a hurtful sarcastic comment to your partner and then claiming it was said in jest.
'I was only joking when I said "you're not getting shorter, I think you're just getting wider" ' :D:)

It doesn't wash, and it just makes some very angry :mad::mad:
(- well the missus was!) :p:cool:

    Thank you

Ironically enough it seems you have inferred from my post that I called Edwards a liar when I did no such thing.

Whether Edwards is up to the job falls into 2 categories for me:

Firstly, he has inherited a squad that some would agree has enough quality to get promoted and I personally think this is a correct assumption. However, it is not his squad in any shape or form and teams that have progressed, have had managers for a period of time that they have built a squad they believe will help us compete at the highest level. Edwards needs time and support financially to build the team he wants and gets the players in he wants. We all know how this ends if come January we get a couple of Mogi Johnny Foreigners that we know full well Edwards did not ask for. I also want the club to stop lying to us, we are not idiots and and can see right through their BS, like the ‘rule of 11’…

On the flip side, regardless of the squad he has and the quality it possesses, I’ve not seen one ounce of a plan in any of the games we have played and to be frank, this has been a problem way before Edwards. This needs to change quickly as he is coming across as tactically inept at this level and is surely heading the chopping block is this persists

In my defence, it seems a pretty reasonable conclusion to draw, after you stated that one did not have to be a mind reader to “know” that Edwards “is not being truthful”. I apologise for equating not telling the truth in a statement with lying.

Whereas others have said it’s a pretty reasonable conclusion to draw that you often pose questions to others that lack good faith - but you have pushed back against that and even got offended.

So it’s fine for you to draw conclusions about people based upon how they post - but not when it’s done about you?

Tbh I do believe he's being economical with the truth especially the RWB scenario. Kamara cements this imo.
He continues to play a three at the back even though not one of those players is comfortable on the ball or has decent distribution. The opposition have got so much time to drop back into shape with our pointless, slow, predictable sideways passing and then we decide to just lump it forward and lose the ball.
We certainly don't play to our strengths, even though I'm currently unsure of what those are.
I do believe the gallows are being prepared because another display like this and what choice have they got? I can deal with defeat but absolutely not in that manner

Will it be more "his squad" if once he potentially fails to get us promoted this season we're then forced to sell Sarr and JP and only have about 5mil to reinvest plus none of the top PL loanees like Davis and Choudhury will come near us any more?!

Did we only get Edwards as nobody experienced and half decent at the level we need would have wanted the job? As always the blame falls squarely at Ginos feet.

I would love to know what people within the game think of our owner and the way he is running the club.

I dont blame Edwards for taking the job on as obviously stepping up from league one where he would have been to the championship is career progression.

Gino should have had a clear out of the players that have been mentally damaged by the last 3 or 4 seasons of defeats. Everyone knows you build a team from the back as not conceding is the backbone of where success comes from.

Hopefully the club is up for sale as I for one cant wait to see the back of Gino, Duxbury, the slug Bayat and the shady deals going on.

Indeed. Next year’s squad if we don’t go up doesn’t bear thinking about. All hopes on Asprilla.

Gosling, Cathcart, Cleverley all out of contract (and for once I don't think we would extend any), Kamara will return (lol) to Udinese. None of the loans will come back. Pedro, Sarr and Louza will go.

Bachmann and Sierralta will only have one year left so presume we'd try and raise a bit of additional cash there.

Then we really are into the dross. Would expect Asprilla to take one look at that, feel that he's served his sentence with us in the Championship and force a move abroad for the sake of his career, following the precedent of Suarez, Estupinan and Cucho.

Not sold on Edwards, but we were horrendous last season under several managers. We set a record low points total for a Watford PL team and broke a record for consecutive home defeats. I reckon if you’d have plucked any mid table championship team and put them in our place they wouldn’t have got far off our points total. So minus Dennis who got us a lot of our points, is our squad really that good?

pretty sure they won’t be able to resist a Britos style 1 year extension for Cathcart and Cleverly. What a team it will be! The keeper dud. Cathcart and Kabasele. Gaspar and Ngakia. Cleverley. Manaj and Bayo. And a couple of fillers.

I've written off this season (or at least the first half of it). Maybe we get a couple in during the January window but as things stand we haven't got a strong enough midfield to press for play offs. Right now I'll be very impressed if by November RE gets us playing and scoring consistently...

Personally I think we've now shifted from a potentially disruptive or simply uninterested culture, to one where we're left with the scars of repeated failure and the loosing mentality that it leaves and its this, that needs changing.

By this I mean players like Kabasele, Cathcart, arguably Cleverly, Sarr, WTE even Sema who have all at some point in recent years been involved in some real lowlights which probably outweigh the highs.

Kabasele and Cathcart for example as highlighted in another thread stand out as they were our back two when Shane Long scored after 7.5 seconds, and when Everton scored two in first half injury time our first relegation season. No doubt if others look im sure there are even more examples

This loosing mentality is one that really can permeate, and infect others by association and will sit there just beneath the surface regardless of what RE does

Agree but those players "appear" to go on to the pitch every game with an absolute mindset of "look cool - don't bust a gut", and start in second gear, whilst the oppo are right up for it.
Most of our guys seem determined on this as if its a sign of a silky smooth defender.... And get roasted over and over.
I notice this in a lot of defenders these days, hence why many teams having a leaky defence - but I think it's worse for us because we don't have a good "engine room" in midfield and that makes us worse.

Interesting vid, he does seem to agree with me that the issue is mostly with the players, although my main takeaway from this is that in the absence of a good passer in the midfield 2, Kayembe should be trying to maraud forward more than he is, and get us up the pitch that way. He did it to good effect against Boro, which was probably one of our better performances of the season, but I have to say, I have no idea why he doesn't do it consistently

    Get rid.

We're a nervous wreck of a side, and he's clearly got zero ideas on what to do.

Seems the extent of his ability is to make his hair look nice and pick 11 players

*Yawn* our squad has absolutely no strength in depth and a lack of quality, and is therefore Rob is extremely limited on how well he can do and what he can get out of these players. Just look at who came on today, Kabasele, Gosling and Bayo. It’s Gino’s fault for not adequately backing him. Sacking RE and bringing in someone else will make no difference.

There are still players here of a good enough level to be getting results.

What has Edwards brought to this side? Just because he looks and sounds the part doesn't mean he's actually any good.

This is the team we have, and if we blindly back Edwards we'll end up getting nowhere. He's clearly not capable of motivating any of them

Something that you'd expect to come out of the mouth of Gino or Scott. Yes we have a few players such as Sarr, Davis, JP, Kamara and Louza who *should* be too good for this level and have shown at times that they are (except from Louza due to injury), but the threat of them is mostly nullified in games due to shocking defending and looking like we'll concede whenever the opposition come forward, as well as a severe lack of progression and and players actually wanting the ball in midfield and at the back (aside from the occasional Asprilla wonder pass). You're entitled to your opinion but for me, I just don't see how sacking him changes everything when we were just 4 or 5 signings away from having a decent squad that suits his play style.

Let’s face it, he’ll be lucky to make it through the international break because we’re run by clowns who have created a complete dumpster fire of a squad. Edwards is a young head coach who will make mistakes, he has been badly let down by the club who will throw him under the bus in the coming weeks and some fans will just carry on with their head up their arse.
