I will quote my Father in Law regarding Lamela. He's no more than a show pony! Take of that what you will.

De Paul is the dangling carrot from Gino this Summer I suppose.
Shame about Sessegnon. He would add so much to the team and is equally good in every position on the left.

Not sure if this is what you had in mind or not, but transfermarkt does have his contract as being up in 2022, so he'll be in the 'last year' scenario as soon as the season ends.

Gilmour from Chelsea - going to be world class

Dwight Gayle from Newcastle - always has a knack of scoring goals

Edmundson from Rangers - another young lad with a big future

Wilson from Liverpool - better than Sema?

Dike who is on loan at Barnsley

You are probably right but you could argue that survival is worth a lot more to the Pozzo family, say he helps keeps us up for three seasons that will accumulate to approximately £340 million. Unless we try and get one or two players with class into the team we are going down and that will cost the Pozzo's way more. Championship players and fringe players from Udinese will potentially see us being next seasons Sheffield United.

Maybe not - but I wouldn't mind him as a back-up/bench player punt as he seems to be a decent goalscorer at a reasonable level (more than other Belgian-club/league one names) and from what I could find out he'd have 1 year left after his loan so could possibly offer loan with view to buy (he is almost 23). He also played 3 games for City when he was 18-20 so there must be 'something' there, I'd be more willing to bet on him scoring 8-15 goals in a hot-streak season than any championship forwards excluding Toney or possibly Pukki. He would either be as terrible as Success or a masterstroke IMHO!!!!

The reason the prefixes are there is so that this section doesn't get clogged up with 'suggestions' which is what used to happen. Now a rumour should either fit into one of the prefix options or else be put in the Transfer Suggestions thread.

This thread should really be part of the suggestions thread...

I wouldn't mind him tbf, he's been one of the better players under difficult circumstances, you'd think a year on he'll be better for the experience. Apparently we're interested in Kean Bryan from the Blades, can play LB/LWB as well as CB and is comfortable on the ball, done OK this season when he's played, but I'm not sure how much of an upgrade, if at all, he'd be

The fact that Dwight Gayle would significantly increase our goal threat, shows how much we have regressed in this position! Would have said he's not good enough 5 years ago. Now he's past his peak and still pisses over our other strikers

Nope. I watched him in all three of Germany's games at the U21 Euros last month and he was not good at all. I hadn't been impressed from his highlights prior to that either.

Of the 15 goals he scored in 32 games for Anderlecht this season 8 of them were penalties. Plus last season he couldn't get a game on loan at Middlesbrough and then couldn't get a game on loan at Wolfsburg, not scoring a goal across the entire season.

I would have been against signing him even for the Championship considering City want about £5mil for him.

Ugbo looks a much better prospect at the same age, and for comparison scored 16 goals in exactly the same number of games as Nmecha and only 2 of those were penalties (so he scored 14 open play goals to Nmecha's 7) - all while playing for a worse team (Cercle Bruges were 16th in the Belgian table, while Anderlecht were 3rd). Even then Ugbo is a bit of a punt.

There is no chance Nmecha will be going on a "8-15 goals hot streak season" in the PL any time soon. Sorry but you're mistaken on this one.

I fear to get anyone from Liverpool we'd have to sell Sarr, but...Sarr in a part exchange for Wilson with Elliott on loan?

Gilmour would be amazing, embarrassed to say that Gayle would improve our striking options even now...

  21. MIlton Dammers

Yes but not by much though I suspect. His goal-scoring record is pretty crap at Prem level, even if he does score plenty in the Champ.

Gilmour is not what we need next season - our CM is very lightweight as it is.

Wilson is a right-winger so not sure what it has to do with Sema?! He could maybe play as a 10 instead of Zinckernagel though I guess.

Dike will be sold in the summer one way or another, not loaned again.

I really don’t think Liverpool will want Sarr this summer. They already lose 2/3 of their attack to AFCON. I doubt they will be adding any players this summer who are playing in that tournament, least of all attackers.

I don’t think Elliott has had a standout season - another season in the Championship is where he should be. And I think Wilson has regressed if anything. Hasn’t stood out in a team that hasn’t made the playoffs. A poor move by player and Liverpool and I’d be surprised if there’s many clubs willing to offer £8m+ to be honest. They could have got double that at least I think once upon a time.

I don’t think it’s going to happen for a number of reasons - but if Liverpool want Sarr, I’d be asking for Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Origi....not Wilson or Elliott.

    Origi you say...
I too don't think Sarr will move, you could say the AFCON has helped us in a way (though if we go down then we'd lose him for much less I suppose), but if he were to go, I'd be all over Elliott, a different kind of winger, but a very talented one nonetheless, I think he's had a great season in a very average (albeit attacking) Blackburn team. Wilson's stock certainly isn't as high as it was, but he just scored a hattrick at the weekend, is an absolute demon from set pieces, and importantly is probably better than Sema

Origi maybe but the Ox is an accident waiting to happen and Keita has been nothing but average. Saying that he was excellent in Germany.

I like Origi at Liverpool and that Belgian striker at Palace Batyshuri (very badly spelt) who someone else suggested earlier. I think they are right that if Bat... got a regular run out he could score a lot goals, and I think the same applies to Origi.

If we could get either or both of them on loan, we could probably offer them both that regular run out and I think they would make a very potent strike force indeed.

  29. Carpster

    Carpster Squad Player

Both of them need games on a regular basis. Origi can play the left sided forward role too.
Both of them them ? Never. One who knows. But I think Batshuayi on his day is a much better central striker.

  30. Burnsy

I also think in Origi's case, there will be someone desperate enough for a striker who will give Liverpool £25m-£30m for him. It won't be us though.

On loan, you'd take them maybe - although whats the reason Batshuayi has not played much at Palace? Would be a concern given they have bad strikers as it is and still has not played regularly.

I don't think either of them are worth what their club's would want for them permanently.

EDIT: Just googled it and some news outlets suggesting Chelsea would perhaps sell Batshuayi for about 10m. I'd probably pay that.

His record is quite confusing, because his appearances to goals ratio sometimes looks very bad, and sometimes looks very good (often in the smaller sample sizes) but then when you take into account the actual number of minutes those goals are recorded in, I think overall it comes out as pretty impressive.

As you say, there has to be a reason that even in his two spells at Palace, never mind Chelsea, he hasn't managed to record even 800 minutes across a season - but could that have a fair amount to do with Hodgson, his very dependable but very retrograde tactical preferences, and proclivity for deploying large but terrible central strikers?
