Pure ideology from the Mail here. What is the problem? Essentially that the move to market rental rates and the increase in cost of living means that working people may strive all week and still don’t have enough to survive without benefits. Those moves shifted wealth from the poor and the state to the wealthy, to landlords and shareholders. So their newspaper, that speaks for them, now tells half the population off for the World they themselves created. And without irony put the ultimate in ‘something for nothing’ scroungers, Boris Johnson, on the cover. What a **** up of a Country.
Distraction tactics, pure and simple. Kind of weird though that the very people who trumpet about the power of the wealth-creating private sector and the idea of trickle down economics aren't questioning what's gone wrong. If the state has to top up the earnings of so many working people, then the market isn't working.
As there are 33m working people in this country, that 36m people MUST include pensioners. The very audience for this garbage, but handily not mentioned.
Hmmm, I wonder why the poorest get out more than they pay in and the richest pay the most tax? Could it possibly be because income inequality is so high that the people at the bottom can't afford to live while the very richest have more than they could possibly ever need or spend? Nah, can't be.
It’s an extraordinary stupid headline that ought to undermine everything the Mail stands for, but that’s how blatant the Ruling Class’s propaganda is. We’ve had all your money and now you want us to support you? Impudent serfs.
The Mail asks if the ‘Partygate Probe’, commissioned by Johnson to kick the Partygate can down the road and signed off by Johnson was a Labour Plot.
The Telegraph and Oakeshyte continue to self-righteously claim ‘public interest’ in their disclosure of Hatt Mancock’s Whatsapp messages, while, of course, pushing their anti-lockdown agenda. But what’s this? Fraser Nelson on Laura Kuenssberg’s show tells us some of it is not in the public interest to disclose. It appears that the ‘public interest’ is what the Daily Telegraph decides it is.
Frankly, I think it is in the public interest to know how incompetently the government handled COVID. Not that I think for one moment that this is why Oakeshott is leaking this stuff.
I can't work out why she's doing this stuff as her actual employer is Murdoch (and she's on a very hefty 'wedge' as she orchestrated a bidding war for her 'talents'). Unless Murdoch's rags were specifically named in the NDA he signed with that tool Hancock as it was felt the Torygraph would never, ever print this stuff?
Totally agree. The only problem is that the data leak is being filtered through Oakshott and the Telegraph, who both have an anti lockdown agenda. There is no way that they will publish anything that shows that the lockdowns were actually a good thing, even if the Government were incompetent. If this had been a Wikileaks type leak, that doesn't involve a payment or a political agenda, then I'd be 100% behind it. As it is, I don't trust it and feel we are being manipulated into taking a view. On the positive side, this is another damaging split for the Tories to deal with.
Which is why the Inquiry should have made a lot more progress by now. The Tories tried to kick it into the long grass, but have simply stored up problems for themselves. Nevertheless, many of the ‘revelations’ so far amount to eff all squared. The Government tried to scare people. During a pandemic? While trying to keep people at home during an outbreak of a novel disease that killed 200k? I’m truly not shocked. Anyone who is maybe missed 1970s public education films about the dangers of pylons and canal swimming.
Amazing how the Tories can recycle this into a headline after failing to manage asylum and migration for years. This is the true power of the Tory Press.
What a load of nationalist, populist, pandering w*nk. **** off is nature as dramatic here as it is in the rest of the world, David. I hit the road at five this morning for nearly three hours. All I’ve seen is a dead badger, two pigeons either ******* or fighting and a pathetic attempt to snow. Are the people that buy this rag so insecure and culturally bereft that they need to believe this ****?
Attenborough whispery voice: It is at this lay by they will congregate. Two will mate, while an eager crowd await their turn. Dogging.
The male brushes the flakes of pastry to ground, remnants of his afternoon Greggs Steak Bake. The female eagerly accepts the offering, and she ****s him off into a hedge.
Errrrrrrr no. The true power of the Tory press on this issue it not leading the public discourse informing the audience of the nuances of why this particular policy is needed and what other alternatives are available but Gary Lineker's "...Nazi comments..." (sic). EDIT: FFS from the 'article':
I hate Lineker and I hate even more that I'm forced to defend him over this, from rabid, right wing 'anti wokes' who also believe that their free speech is infringed everytime someone admonishes them for being a thundercunt.
Anyone standing with Fiona Bruce for the abuse and cancellation she has received at the hands of left wing bigots, because she did her job properly? She didn't condone Johnson's behaviour, just put the comments, of the horrendous political car crash that is Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, into context. And gets attacked by extremists for doing so. Typical. Criticised by the right for showing bias, and by the left for not showing enough! I hope her colleagues will virtue signal for her the same as Lineker's did for him.
