A disgrace of a performance defensively, whether it's Cathcart missing the ball, Foster running into no-mans land or the general ineptitude defensively from the whole team this was an absolute pathetic showing. Leicester barely had to work for any of their goals, just get the ball up top and let Watford mess up for you.
This is quite comfortable the all round worst side I can remember in 40 years of watching.

I take it there was no lap around the pitch post match?

    Sums up our lamentable season.

Hazelwood played Rickmansworth in the Hot Rackets competition. It rained throughout, both our second pair fell over, one smashed her head but appears unhurt.

We won 3-1 and one of the opposition is a Huddersfield fan.

I wished them all the best for tomorrow.

Roll on next week and in the words of Quo, roll over lay down, doubtless!

    Painful.

Today’s result means only once all season have we managed to go more than one match unbeaten.

Xisco achieved it, albeit with two admittedly relatively easy-looking fixtures v winless Norwich and Newcastle, but neither Ranieri nor the current incumbent have managed it.

The was a lap around the pitch. Not by Roy, though. I stood with my hands in my pockets.

We are only going one way next season, League One. Absolute shambles. Think I’ll stick to watching Slough Town next season to be honest. Waste of time this club.

    This is true.

I imagine it was planned beforehand to give Edwards a look at what some of the players are like in his favoured system. I don't think it's a coincidence that we played it for the first time today under Roy.

Would having a better midfield behind him somehow improve his finishing? He was decent today and a decent prospect, but don't overdo it, he's hardly set the league alight either.

    He was very good today.

Did they all come out with GT esque pieces of cardboard with "I'm sorry" on them?

    Somehow I doubt it!

Possibly " So long and thanks for all the cash".

This was woeful all around, and by no means was Masina the only reason for this result, but my god, how sh*t was he yet again? I can't believe we started the season with him and that useless fatty Rose as lb options. Baffling.

Roy shouldn't have come out of retirement for both his and our's sake. Dreadful appointment. I doubt we would have been any worse if we kept Ranieri(who was also completely sh*t towards the end of his tenure), that's how useless Hodgson has been.

And then of course, there are the higher-ups, who are the ones most responsible for all of this, who are sitting with a dodgy agent. What a joke of a season this has been.

Can't wait to get stuffed by Chelsea on the final day.

They’ve won…the barstewards have ground me down so much that I couldn’t care when we scored and couldn’t care when we conceded.

    there were so many negatives;
Everything that massina and hodgson did
No effort by any player to track back
The fact that this may be our side next season - not a hope will we get close to the play offs and that debt will become insurmountable
Not a murmur by the few fans that actually went about how our club has been dragged down into the mire

    the positives:
Our new bloke looks the part and will up the attendance of the females
The club actually did a player of the season award - well it made me laugh

thank the lord I don’t need to see this shiiite again for a long while

I see Foster has commented in the Wobby that no manager in the world would keep us up, and I agree with him. A shambles of a squad with a dreadful attitude and a drastic lack of leadership.

Pedro was the best Watford player on the pitch.

Look how deep he had to drop to get the ball as nobody else was doing anything. He was dictating whatever small amounts of football we could rummage together in the middle and then making the runs to be the only player in the box to try finish them. How can you be a number 9 & 10 at once?

So yes a better midfield would help him, if he could focus on doing just one of the jobs knowing his team mates will help then he’d be better. His finishing isn’t of a 20 goal striker season, some of his touches are heavy and his decision making at times needs improving but the latter certainly improves with better team mates you trust to look after the ball.

He played one reverse pass to Gosling in the first half that was beautiful and should have been an assist.

If he had “set the league” alight at his age at this horrible, toxic football club he’d be going for £50 million. He needs a better environment to truly flourish.

Sorry, should have said we’ll be in the Conference in 5 years.

bookmark my post. If we sail to promotion next season or make a fight of it I’ll put my hands up and say I was OTT. I wouldn’t be so confident if I was you. There might be no Leicester’s but we have been battered by Yeovil Town before now in the Champ…

Sure but there wasn't much competition today.

Well JP did play as a 9 and 10 at once, and it's partly necessary because he doesn't have the complete skillset yet to excel at focusing on just one of the roles - his finishing, heading and pace aren't really enough to only be a 9, and his workrate and pressing isn't really enough to focus on being a 10.

I reckon he's probably a tad better at creating for others than finishing, at the moment anyway, in which case he should play a slightly deeper role, but he'll have to offer more energy off the ball if that is where he'll end up.

He's a decent prospect, sure, but it's not clear what his best role will be and where if anywhere he could ever hold down a regular starting spot in a PL-level team.

Not entirely sure why I went today, for some deluded reason I was anticipating a win, for 15 minutes I was pleased, the remaining 75 slightly less so. Thought we looked pretty decent for those 15 minutes with Kayembe and Kalu looking sharp before it all descended to absolute dross. Won’t bother going over the goals, it’s all what we’ve come to expect this season, defensive calamity after defensive calamity, how we can’t defend a simple ball over the top i don’t understand. Edwards has a hell of a job on his hands, fully expecting at least a 30 player turnover in the summer but we must give him time. Couldn’t be happier the seasons over (near enough).

    It was my birthday today.

I watched this next to the Leicester fans as I was chaperone for a kids birthday group.

It was as awful an experience as you could imagine made worse by getting soaked in the front rows of SEJ.

12 kids actually tried to sing back to the wierd Leicester fans that were chanting at them all game.

Edwards has a serious rebuilding job on his hands. How many who played today could be relied on to fight it’s way to a promotion?

Far too many mercenaries, journeymen and takers in our squad.

Watford need a complete overhaul. Sure, I can make a case for a few of them. Dropping down a league will improve some of them, as they will look better, but you cannot coach desire and a will to win. That just doesn’t exist in so many of these players.

Heads at the top have to roll too. It’s going to mean major changes. A complete reset. If it doesn’t happen then the same mistakes will be continually made and we will go bust. That’s the inevitable conclusion.

I took my daughter round to her mates, then went to the cinema with the boy instead. A much better afternoon.

    A few questions:

Dipped into the shoutbox during the trailers... Someone said that it was even more empty than against Everton - was that the case?

Was it even more empty at full time and did anyone actually clap these wasters off?

Was there any anti Pozzo / Duxbury / Bayat chanting?

At least Mrs Peel took advantage of our joke of a team:

There were an awful lot of empty seats. Before FT over half the ground had left - when the players did their "lap of shame" their were not many to see it.

Pockets of fans' clapped them. A few (an rightly so) didn't - stood idle with hands in pockets.

There was a "Duxbury Out" chant but it faded quickly.

On a positive note for your misses - £3.50 well spent.

    I agree.
The squad needs to be thinned out as much as possible. 90% would be a good start.
So what if we drop into League One. We deserve nothing more.
Total rebuild is needed. I doubt Pozzo/Duxbury will go down this route. They have wasted Premier league money and they will probably just paper over the cracks until the Pozzo family decides to sell and concentrate completely on the family First team in the Italian league.
We have been a disgrace this season, an utter embarrassment to the game of football.
Yet, l read that they were clapped off the pitch with enthusiasm. Not one word of discontent from the home fans.
I begin to wonder who are the most embarrassing, the players or the fans.
I wish Edwards well next season. Survival in the Championship is the first objective. There seem to be many fans that expect us to drop into League One.
New season, new kit, but will it be the same old team?
    Let's bloody hope not.

There won't be a rebuild and Edwards won't get time next season, the objective will be promotion at the first attempt. That means players that have got us promoted before like Cathcart, Troost, Cleverley and Sema will stay and if we aren't challenging for the top six at Christmas then Edwards will be off.

    THEY WILL NEVER CHANGE

Dont blame the players, any of them.

The desire and motivation has been sucked from them to do anything more than turn up. Partly terrible culture within the club, partly adding mercenary dross like Tufan and Rose, partly coached out of them by Roy.

Yes some of them are not brilliant footballers but I genuinely dont think they want to fail. They have no confidence and no coaching and no man management.

From what we've heard about Edwards, he will start by saying "ok which of the current squad can play a position, will give me 100pct effort, listen to me, and have the legs to press hard for most of 90 minutes.?"
Then he'll realise the answer is : about 5.

Surely after a big clear out GP can promise him approx 5 new players at say £4mil each plus loanees, and give him a chance to rebuild.? RE should know of 5 gems in lower divisions that will have heart for the task.?
(yes I realise the first loan offers might be from Udinese...)

I read someone wanted to take his 3 kids to todays game but couldn’t buy 4 seats together, so never bothered going. So the empty seats are either already paid for or they’re fudging the numbers like the lower leagues sometimes do. But I highly doubt that bothers them. Look at the team they put out. ST holders paid good money to watch our best players every game. Used to only be a couple of quid to watch the reserves.

Clearly it's nothing to do with the poor squad; the fans just need to be more positive and we'll be fine.
