To cut a long story short this morning, Yay we get another week without Mills. He doesn’t start until Monday week. The always good Mark G continues instead.

I remember in the 90's I was at a club and Radio 1 DJ Gary Davies made a guest appearance, loads of chants about fvcking off you big nosed cvnt etc, fun times.

Finding Scott's first two days to be a refreshing change. Hope it's not as bad for Malts as they feared. I am finding him inoffensive and not dominating the music.

I can’t listen sadly. I’ve had to go elsewhere until 9.31. Glad you’re enjoying though. I’m looking forward to Sophie’s new show tonight.

Right now Sophie is actually ruining his show by singing gibberish lyrics over some cheese pop

I like her too, but it was a racket. She's just loveable tbf. Down to earth and very relatable.

Although she has quite a strange way of speaking, I really enjoyed her new Friday night show.

Simon Le Bon was good fun last night covering on Sounds of the 80s.

Uff back to CDs I go tomorrow morning until 9.30!

I enjoyed Sounds of the 70s with Whispering Bob yesterday as I drove around, dropping the kids to their clubs. What could have been a stressful drive was very chilled as I enjoyed the excellent choice of music.

Yes it was a morning of CDs for me that day. That disgusting creature on breakfast followed by that plastic relic shouting Oooooooooo all morning, both well avoided.

The Piano Room. I just loathe this. Load of crappy popstars making crappy versions of their already terrible songs, plus a slow, piano cover version that is 'oh so surprising.'

    Awful.

I had a day off Radio 2 (live) yesterday. I gather the awful breakfast host was joined by that bloke with all the teeth to pay fawning homage to one of the BBC’s worst ever tv shows. Ghastly.

I listened to back editions of the wonderful SEB Kitchen Disco instead.

Yeah. I don't think the BBC does itself any favours with this constant internal self promotion.

Strictly finals, Eastenders anniversaries, Proms etc. Sure, mention them, but the complete takeover of other parts of the BBC to promote this stuff is awful. Just because I like to listen to pop music without adverts, doesn't mean I want to consume every single other piece of content that the BBC is producing.

let us choose what we want from the menu without forcing the other stuff down our throats.

I totally agree. I’d almost rather watch the ads on itv than the BBC’s constant plugging of itself in between programmes.

Everybody is of course entitled to watch and enjoy whatever they wish, but I’ve always hated Eastenders. It’s a nasty, unpleasant programme that I’m sure has been part responsible for the ongoing break down of curtesy and politeness in our country. Yes it’s well written and acted and I appreciate it’s brought some important issues to the fore, but I just don’t want to switch on my tv after a long day’s work to watch people being unpleasant to each other.

And it’s a play. The way the bbc are paying homage this week seems to forget this. It’s not real ffs.

Greg James is such a good broadcaster eh. A consummate pro.

He’s been my new Breakfast listen these past weeks, ever since the awful SM took over on Radio 2.

    Proper radio show.

I'm glad there's a R2 show for musical theatre nerds, but i wish Elaine Paige would stop it with her fake, silly laugh. It's insulting.

Agree. She needs to turn over a new Paige. Another example of the presenter thinking they’re bigger than the music they’re there to play.

Sophie remains the Goddess of radio presenters imo.

Sad news today about Andy Peebles. Not namedropping but I knew him quite well, both from Radio One and then doing cricket commentaries together. A nice guy. RIP.
