Forest’s luck ran out in the end. Don’t know what their run in is like but suspect they will be relying on home form .
Mixed feelings from the Palace fans about the possibility of Roy coming back to Palace - more of them are against it than not, and some have said they won't attend another game if he returns and see where they are in May. Obviously they're concerned because of his age, the fact he may have lost some of his hunger having been in and out of retirement lately and his terrible record at us but they're in a much better position to stay up than we were and unlike us have a decent defence for a struggling side. But while I've never had much of a problem with Palace up to now, it would be quite amusing if he does take them down...
Hopefully their relegation can be confirmed in their second last game at Craven Cottage, so he can walk round the stadium blowing kisses to the Fulham fans after the final whistle....
They need to start scoring goals and creating chances. Had one on target in 4 games! Not sure Roy's tactics are what Palace need - seem to be quite solid and organised anyway (clean sheet v Liverpool, only one goal defeats v Brighton and Man City). Fixtures after tomorrow look very kind. https://www.skysports.com/crystal-palace-fixtures If Palace don't stay up they really have messed up.
They'll stay up,if only to irritate me! Flipping heck, well said Conte! Just said arrivederci to his job but pretty much said what most of us think about modern footballers. Hide when it's tough going and haven't the courage to face the truth. Want to come to Watford and tell Pozzo that too?
Lots of goals in the Prem today with unexpected results in all five games - 21 goals in 5, compared to 17 in 8 in the Championship - and that's supposed to be a more exciting league! Really hard to call who will be going down from Palace downwards - Bournemouth and Southampton are the most obvious picks, but Southampton showed some fighting spirit by coming from 3-1 down against Spurs, and Bournemouth still get the odd unexpected result (or nearly do in the case of Arsenal).
Conte could have been describing the Watford players. Selfish, no heart, no desire to win, happy to be mediocre.
Seems like most agree with his views but a bit mad to do it in public but then he isn’t going to be there soon so won’t care .
Yeah the snowflake pundits are all throwing their hands up in horror at Conte telling the absolute truth about that club and the setup there. He’s a winner.
I'm surprised that could be the case with some footballers. Isn't that one of the reasons budding footballers get into the sport in the first place, to get the better of the opposition? Is it that some of them lose their hunger later on (usually those who don't quite make it to the top echelon) and they are mainly content just to pick up the money to set them up for life?
I fear that applies to several of the players we have had over recent seasons. Lose heart when they know another team is in for them. Get fed up of the constant changes. Or simply the sort we know have the talent but are rather flaky characters but we are in the habit of signing hoping for the best. And we do have some complacent characters. Happy to pick up their wages knowing they have a Gino contract.
I still expect Citeh to win the title. Very possible they could win their last 11 games (or close to that). If they did Arsenal would still have to win 8 and draw 2 of their last 10 to finish a point above them. I never normally gamble but will have a look at the odds given all the media seem to assume Arsenal have already won it.
Arsenal are known to be "last minute bottle jobs" in previous seasons as well. City have an easy run in, and Haaland will probably score another boat load. I can see Arsenal keeping the top spot until the final weekend, then City winning and them losing their last game, blowing it on the final day (like Liverpool did when Gerrard slipped and Denba Barr scored for Chelsea). If I had to choose, I would prefer Arsenal win it, just to wipe that smug grin off Pep's face.
Arsenal still have to play City away too. That 8pt lead on paper could be 2pts very swiftly given City also have a game in hand thanks to their cup run.
Got Newcastle and Liverpool away (who seem to do better against the top teams ) so still a lot of work for them to do .
I suspect the problem is they don't really care and will keep making short flights if it suits them regardless of how harmful that might be. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65017565
Why should a footballer player on £50k+ a week be expected to sit in a glorified bus, like an ordinary commuter, for anything other than the absolute minimum.
