It’s all good, Gino is reinvigorated and fully invested in getting us back to the Premier League after several years of mailing it in. We’ll be catching Brentford in no time.
Another loan taken out . https://x.com/KieranMaguire/status/1933966323136212999 And the Udinese take over hits a stalemate ? https://x.com/thewatfordway/status/1933902926818460056
Afterall the initial “excitement” of the news they might be selling up did read something like this which suggested the Pozzos wanted to still have a say in the running of Udinese . I don’t think they are going anywhere fast. Or set to invest in us much - signing a few squad players from League one or Turkey isn’t the sure sign that will happen .
But....no........I mean Gino's got me back........I've already told all my podders and followers.......
I guess it depends what “influence” means. If it means “have final say” that makes no sense. If it means get involved and throw fwd suggestions that seems reasonable.
Sure, but in that case, why would they advocate for that as an official condition, when under those circumstances the actual owners could obviously just go 'yeah, great, thanks, now fucck off'. What possible reason would they have to codify an annoying devil on their shoulder screeching in their ear constantly on a subject they have a pretty terrible recent track record on?
Anyone looking to retain a minority interest will want some sort of say in what happens to the company.
This is a very unique situation, though - it's not like any other 'company', and recruitment in a footballing sense is not 'some sort of say'; it would constitute the main driving direction, because of that unique nature.
Yes but we don’t know what sort of “influence” they were looking for. The article didn’t say “control over” for example. A bit of a mystery.
Turns out the fitness coach of a premier league club lives down my road. Chatted to him tonight and said that Watford are known as a terrible place to go for your career and that Pozzo is widely regarded as a complete ***** in the world of football.
The managers get highlighted as being sacked obviously but we get through so many other staff no wonder we are seen as bad eggs .
I spoke to an EFL manager the other day on Whatsapp, he knows who I support and said, "Watford really are a strange club". I told him to tell me something I don't know, to which he replied. "No, it's madder than it's ever been". Everyone outside the club has the same opinion of it.
We were chatting as I was seeing what his closed door training ground games were for pre season, to see if they were playing us and I would slip down to watch if that was the case. As Knight said above, I couldn't give a toss about what anyone thinks about us, amuses me, I didnt ask him what they had done this time.
Let's be honest, the vast majority of football fans' knowledge of Watford who do not support or follow the club are: "Owner owns two clubs" "They keep sacking their managers" "Elton John was or still is part of it right?" "They wear yellow" "Some big gob called Deeney is their captain"
I suppose we won't be needing this thread anymore, with the general positivity of summer signings I am reading from forum members and previous criticisers.
They made a profit overall though through Kone? I suspect that someone slammed a transfer window shut without realising that João Ferreira still was on the other side.
I think it's only fair to change your opinion if someone changes their mindset and policies. So I will be giving Gino a second chance. I think he lost the plot for a few seasons but so far I think we may be going in the right direction again.
