    Event #35: $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha - 6 handed

Getting a bit 'tasty' this one ....

507 came under the starter's gun, now 15 left - The Devilfish & Chris Moorman from our Septic Isle still in contention .... $620k to the winner.

Local interest .... John Kabbaj from Bushey cashed for $15,661 in 30th place.

Is the WSOP shown on any Sky channels? I used to watch it all online (I think).

ESPN have the TV contract (they're only really interested in the $10k buy-in Main Event though) - the WSOP website shows many of the final tables on the net .... no hole cards etc, obviously.

Event #36: $2,500 No Limit Hold em

Middy (Tom Middleton), goes back as chipleader tomorrow to scrap for the $750k first prize.

And what do his fellow Brit players do when one of their own get's to a fight for a Bracelet?

    Bloggeth reveals;

We've reached the requisite ten-level mark, and the chips have been bagged up for one more overnight soak.

Once again, we're going to spare a lot of words here; our ears are ringing from the commotion we've just witnessed over the last four hours or so.

From our starting field of 1,734, just five players remain in the hunt for the bracelet. One of them, Thomas Middleton, was the one responsible for most of the noise tonight as his cheering section of countrymen were well lubricated with alcohol and very much a part of the battle being played out before them. Beers were imbibed from shoes -- yep, true story -- spilled onto the floor, and poured two-by-two down the throats of all in attendance as the dull roar rose to a deafening thunder of chanting by night's end.

And there's reason to cheer. Middleton is atop the pack heading into the final day, but the bracelet can not be won by his fans on the rail tomorrow. He'll have to deal with another Thomas on his left, Thomas Miller who held the chip lead for most of the day until a slide late in the evening. Also still in the hunt for his first bracelet is former APPT champion Eddy Sabat, and the two wild cards, Mikhail Lakhitov of Russia and Hassan Babajane from Boston.

The five of them will be back inside the Amazon Room Friday afternoon at 3:00 to finish this thing out. Here's how they'll stack up when play recommences:

    Player Chips

    Thomas Middleton 4,030,000
    Mikhail Lakhitov 2,705,000
    Hassan Babajane 2,365,000
    Eddy Sabat 2,030,000
    Thomas Miller 1,885,000

That's all we have for tonight, and our eardrums need some time to recover.

    Event #38: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em

Uk's Jon Spinks and Paul Nash in contention for the $540k for first spot .... it looks as though the 'rail' moved over from Middy's table to roar the boys on ..... seems like it was almost "on the pitch"!

    Day 2 completed.

Without a doubt, this could have been the most bizarre day we've ever had here in the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Period. If the rapid rate of attrition and the roars from the nearby final tables wasn't enough, it was all capped off with a huge British invasion that practically brought play to a standstill during the last three hands.
Still, from 298 players at the start of Day 2 of WSOP Event #38, we're now down to just 23. And emerging as our chip leader from all the madness is Perry Lin, with just over one million in chips. He's followed by Michael Blanovsky (757,000), Ryan Laplante (701,000), Jonathan Spinks (688,000) and Matthew Lupton (555,000).

We should also point out that Melanie Weisner has bagged up 549,000, but with the "last woman standing" moniker aside, she played some power poker throughout the day and will definitely be the one to watch tomorrow. Could she finally become the first female player to win a WSOP open bracelet since Vanessa Selbst in 2008?

All we know that after all that racket, it's time for a couple of Tylenol for our headaches and a good night's rest. Thanks for staying with us here at PokerNews, be sure to join us once again when we kick off tomorrow at 2.30pm PST (GMT -7).

    Top Chip Counts
    1 Perry Lin 1,000,000
    2 Michael Blanovsky 757,000
    3 Ryan Laplante 701,000
    4 Jonathan Spinks 688,000
    5 Matthew Lupton 555,000
    6 Melanie Weisner 549,000
    7 Daniel Bobick 481,000
    8 Randolph Lanosga 441,000

Wow, the age of this thread!

So the last few weeks I've been playing in live torunaments at a local venue and it's been a blast. Learning the game live and the mechanics of it, (when online does all that for you), is fascinating. Played with a super friendly crowd and after 3 sessions am only just getting the confidence to play the actual game rather than concentrate on not f***ing up, and despite not winning a penny yet I've improved each time. The crazy loose play I'm seeing is absolutely ripe for picking but the lunatics are getting the cards so far. However, from the many years of online experience and this thread in particular I know that solid play will win out.......eventually.

If you get a chance to play live play then do it, it's great fun.
