Well on top for most of the game ,Plymouth are awful ,should of been 3 points wrapped up but our decision making in the final third cost us the game ,game management at the end was, awful
I don't actually think the tactics were that bad, we had the better of the second half by sitting off and letting them give us the ball, we might have easily scored the third and looked likely to do so for most of the half. Ref wasn't great in the second half with multiple fouls on Watford players being let go, and Kayembe passing the ball out with 20 seconds left was ****.
Another error on the far post, we keep getting caught out, Andrews is not doing himself any favours, never pushes wide out and defends it.. So annoying, thought we were a lot better should have played out the win...
Yeah, he was played in on the left of the box running onto the ball unmarked but took a poor touch and knocked it out wide. Them cut back inside, declined an opportunity to shoot, cut back inside again, and again, and was blocked near the penalty spot.
Disappointing to throw the points away against a poor side. Should have been out of sight. A bit annoyed at the manner of the draw, but I suppose with the emotions taken out, a draw isn't the worst result away from home considering how our away form has been this season, especially considering their home form. Although I fo find it quite intriguing that they have such a good home record when they did appear to be one of the poorer sides we have played this season even at home.
Oh yeah I remember that now. I still think he had a bit to do to beat the keeper once he cut inside if he had found the space. Whereas Bayo had a chance to pick his spot having been played in by Sissoko but just swung at the ball hoping for the best, no composure.
Credit goes to Cleverley for making us look much better from the start. Criticism goes to Cleverley for making us lack ruthlessness to see the game out. We just lack the street smarts in the big moments. Kayembe had the opportunity to put his foot through it in the 95th min - yet he taps it down the line badly to Bayo….who shows zero urgency to get there as the ball runs out. Then it’s by Bayo’s feet to just tap the ball away and delay Plymouth recycling it quickly. And he just stands there. Small moments but they cost points. And the coaches should be absolutely smashing it into them to be aware of this. Baah was just as criminal in playing into their hands.
I don't think Bayo did too much wrong with the chance the keeper saved. He also had a very good game overall. His miss is about 7th on the list of reasons we lost.
Baah was rather disappointing I though. We could have done with his pace more. I suppose we have snatched a few points ourselves but still very frustrating and easily avoidable.
Special mention to Andrews who never seems to be in the correct place positionally, always in no mans land. Definitely regressed.
A long list of jiggering angry swear words to start off with. Absolutely feels like a defeat. When the commentator started going on at the end about how Argyle have scored loads of late goals, I was swearing at him too. WHY repeat 3 times, gain possession at the back, tap it around, loop one in the direction of Bayo standing on the touchline, who either misses it or glances it out for them to launch another long throw into our box? Why? When they're pressing forward like that is prime time for catching them on the break and putting the game firmly to bed. One or two runners, huge Porto or Pollock heave over the top and away we go. It's got to be a better plan than the keep giving them dangerous throws. Go ahead and blame Bachmann if you like and yes, his pathetic little half arsed flinch of not even an attempt at a save at the end was extremely frustrating, BUT why was he left all alone to have time to bring the ball down, get it under control, have a little look up to see where the keeper is and then pick his blasted spot? WHY? Andrews, where were you? What were you thinking. Didn't really contribute much positive during the match either Bachmann or Andrews in reality. Festy back is a bonus next match. On the positive side, Pollock was immense again. Brilliant assist too. Bayo did well. OK he's not a natural goal scorer by a long distance, if he were, he'd have put that 1 on 1 away cutely instead of blasting it in the keepers range. But his hold up play has improved immensely. And he scored again. Yes, with a part of his anatomy that isn't even included in @reids most detailed stats. But they ALL count. Well done him. Baah was substituted too late. Doumbia would have been a smart move. We didn't see the exactly 60 mins subs this time for the 1st time in a long time. I think we DID miss TC on the touchline. Probably that stupid apple laptop froze and the floppy haired youth at his side seemed to have his ear buds in listening to his spotify playlist rather than paying attention.
I felt like we had to sit off abit as players appeared tired. Chakvatadze was evidently running out of steam unsurprising due to his performances for Georgia during the international break and had to substituted which didn't help. Baah looked tired as well and was making plenty of mistakes. Bayo looked Shattered from around the hour mark.
He did. Watch it in slow motion, he almost spins around as he hits it - horribly off balance from a chance when he started balanced! Plus, his goal was lucky beyond belief - was a tap-in and he conspired to put it in the net in the strangest way. He was very good at holding it up tonight - but he had 3 key moments. He nearly messed up the first, he did mess up the second and he was asleep at the end for the 3rd which allowed them to recycle the ball quickly for the goal. Such a shame as he played okay - but he’s really bad at key moments.
So so frustrating. Over the past years I’ve really not been bothered when we’ve conceded a goal like that In the 96th minute, mainly because of our lack of direction & mid-table mediocrity. The fact I’m absolutely gutted shows that Cleverley has got me liking this team & given me hope we might actually achieve something this season. On another day both those Gray strikes go wide, and Bayo scores his 1 on 1. The performance as a whole gives me some hope we’ll start picking some more points up on the road but by god that feels like a loss.
That game summed us up over 90 mins. We are not a bad side, when we are on it. We gave Plymouth plenty to think about tonight and looked comfortable for most of the game. Bayo scored one of the strangest goals (just seen the replay) off his, er junk, but hey they all count. Nice finish by Porteous to put us back in front and deserved to lead at the break. Second half was another good performance, we pressed them and created more than enough chances to kill the game and walk away with a decent victory. I think TC will be pleased enough we didn't lose away but we must be kicking ourselves in the dressing room now. Yes Andre' Gray scored two very good goals against us tonight but that should be a mere footnote on the entire game. We should of been out of sight before he scored in injury time. Bayo makes you want to tear your hair out with his misses from simple chances. He had numerous ones after he scored the opening goal to put the game to bed and hit them straight at the goal keeper or wide of the goal. We are creating chances, we are starting to play better away from home and before tonight I would of taken a point from a side who might be low down in the table but are very good at home, In that sense, we have done well to get something out of the game ahead a very tough home game against Bristol City on Tuesday. But Cleverley must surely be just a little upset we didn't hold on, or more to the point we missed time and time again. You can dominate a game, have all the chances in the world but if you're only one goal up, with a defence and goal keeper as shaky as ours away from home, it's going to happen. Yes it was worldie of sorts and Bachmann had no chance, but before that they had several chances to score, Flappmann was back in remarkable form tonight. I still do not think his confidence is fully back yet. Chak works hard but again his end product is still poor - and Sema coming on was a total waste of a shirt. Did we deserve to lose? No, but in the end we didn't do enough to win the game. Plymouth are very lucky we cannot finish our chances because we should of been well ahead before Gray got his brace. We haven't had a decent striker for god knows how long, and we cannot rely on scrappy goals and worldies all season. I sound a bit more negative than I wanted to because we did play some good stuff tonight, and there are glimpses of a decent side there. But the more we concede chances that they will score, we will continue to throw away points. It was a good result on the face of our dreadful away form, but we threw to valuable points away tonight because we cannot finish for toffee. So frustrating.
On my way back to the car: Bachmann - felt his positioning and footwork for both goals was poor, but otherwise was fine. Porteous - one of his better games, nice finish. Pollock - wasteful with the ball, was tempted into launching it forwards too often in the second half and repeatedly gave it away, defensively solid though. Morris - lost Gray for the first but otherwise decent. Larouci - crossing was dreadful, otherwise fine. Andrews - typical from him really some real quality often interspersed with moments of utter madness. Louza - thought he was really good, must have been because the tv cameras are on. Hopefully this continues. Sissiko - a real mixed bag tonight, went to ground far too often and stayed down. Chakvetadze- excellent 1st half, average second. Looked exhausted tbf. Baah - ineffectual tonight. Bayo - works so hard but his finishing just isn’t good enough.
No, “them” should only be used in relation to more than one person. It’s plural. I despise the modern nonsense about gender-neutral pronouns and have refused to use it at work. Nothing wrong with “him/her” or “her/him”. Not a bad result, would “of” taken that beforehand.
2 points dropped then again not sure we did enough 2nd half in all fairness. Would agree with the post above that a number of players looked leggy and we kept giving the ball away. Even so Plymouth looked one of the poorer sides we have played this season and Bayo really should have scored his chance late on.
I was thinking the same, it's the usual "return from internationals" syndrome. I think we put so much running into the first half and should have been 3-1 up at least. Chack was blowing in the second half and baah did nothing in the last 20 minutes and the trouble then was we had nobody coming on who could revitalise us. Vata should have come on....
More awful Defending at the back post from Andrews not enough urgency from him ,should of sent him on his left would of kicked it of the pitch ,Andrews has regressed as a defender his concentration and decision making is shocking ,unfortunately for him,he is finding out pace only gets you so far
I thought he looked fairly good but occasionally off pace or out wrong footed. As the commentary mentioned he is only 20. I wouldn't say he has regressed just still a little raw.
Agree on Vata or Ince earlier. Trouble was some of those not on International duty looked a bit leggy and knackered too.
Don’t know why we didn’t see Vata for Baah, but he opted for ince instead. Maybe it makes sense to have experienced heads on to close the game out, but there was absolutely no attacking threat from that point on, and it gives the opposition more reason to think they can get something.
That was such a waste. The defence was all at sea in injury time. Sema ball watching, Pollock playing left back, Andrews in no man's land, Kayembe trying to play a cute pass down the line instead of hoofing it 60 yards down the other end. We had so many chances to put the game to bed but we are so unclinical it's a joke. Bayo just swings a body part at the ball and hopes for the best. Brainless. Andre Gray could take those shots another 100 times and miss every single one. Sh*t player playing for an even worse team. Plymouth are cannon fodder and it's points poorly dropped.
4 points from our last 3 away games and 8 goals is a significant improvement. Hopefully we can now start adding some points away from home as well as maintaining our home form.
Three game weeks are knackering a lot of sides out. When you have a slim squad like we do it's going to take it's toll. You can be a great athlete and professional but playing three matches in such a short time span is going to wear you down eventually. It's not an excuse for tonight though, we did more than enough to win the game and yet we got punished right at the death for again failing to do the thing the sport is all about.
[QUOTE="3000, post: 3385941, member: 2278". Bayo just swings a body part at the ball and hopes for the best. Brainless.[/QUOTE] Brilliant. Made me chuckle.
