Matty Wichelow signs new 2 year contract. Good news.

WATFORD youngster Matty Whichelow has today (Tuesday) signed a new two-year contract with the Hornets.

The 19-year-old made an encouraging start to his professional career during 2010/11, with four starts and 15 substitute appearances in the league.

He netted his first goal at Derby County last October and went on to score two further goals during the campaign.

Whichelow is another product of the Hornets' respected Academy - having joined the club as an Under-14 schoolboy.

The attacking midfielder from Finsbury Park spoke exclusively to watfordfc.com and said: "I'm happy to sign to be honest and to get my future sorted out.

"Now I can look forward to the new season and focus on coming back fit and ready to go for pre-season."

Was very good on loan at Notts County, out of our reach I suspect though. Fair play for wanting the football over the money though.

 

I don't know, he might just see us at the type of club that will give him almost guaranteed first team football.

He might come to us for a couple of years to give him a chance to show what he can do, with a view to moving on to a bigger club as a first team regular.

 

I hope Bryan gets a new deal, I think he can be a player if he stays fit and gets a few games.

So there we are, Kiernan gone, EO and MB have a year left - personally felt they were the two of the three with the bigger potential so quite happy.

That's a lot of contracts to renew fairly sharpish!!!!

 

I wonder if this is the same kind of option that Cowie had in his contract... :dismay: The logical answer would be that the club has the option of extending his deal by an extra year under current terms, but with Cowie that clearly wasn't the case!

 

The one that sticks out a mile is Martin Taylor. I think we need to extend his deal for at least one more year. And probably Lloyd Doyley as well.

If they see loach as a sellable asset they need to do the same with him. His value will decrease if he enters his last year,

 

McGinn will be a helluva player if he recaptures his form, I would extend his by a year as well
