Would seem a fairly pointless sale

Seems like we're keen to cash in on him (didn't overly impress to be honest) - and use the money for a player more suited to the Premier League.

I am very disappointed with this news.

Can't see Forest being willing or able to pay what we should want for him. I like him and think he will be asset in the PL.

This would be an odd one but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not happening (see Ashley Fletcher, Ben Wilmot etc.).

I like the fella. He did seem a little lightweight and was a little sloppy but I still feel there's a player in there who may well be better suited in the top flight.

Forest may have concrete interest but nothing in the article said we're keen to sell. £20 million could do it, though.

I know he was free, but do championship clubs have any money?

I’d rather keep him, but it wouldn’t be bad business to get him in January and then flip him for 5 or so million 6 months later.

Wouldn't be a good idea to sell him, at least give him a chance in the premier league.

I still feel a bit sad that FF was never given that opportunity, some might say he wasn't good enough anyway but I think he earned his chance and it's a great shame we never got to see him in the top flight.

For goodness sake, any money for this stinking streak of watery diarrhoea is pure profit. He's totally useless. GET RID!

Well - it is not going to be 5 or 6m is it

If it is 2m i would be seeing it as fair - if and only if the assessment is that he can't make the jump to PL level

None of us know - but my gut says he will not

  16. At risk of agreeing with Moog's hyperbole, can anybody point to an actual impressive performance? Even in the Championship?

  17. Carpster

No not really but he showed some good things, not often enough though. That doesn't mean he should be sent packing though. As I said there is one hell of a player in there and I want to see him given a chance.

Selling for £2m would be an embarrassment. Why do we expect so little for our players? Can you imagine Norwich or Brentford, having just been promoted, demanding £2m for their second choice right winger / attacking midfielder?

I think when he finally started getting some starts against Wycombe, Forest, Cardiff and Rotherham he looked really good. Would be a shame to move him on without giving him a go in his preferred position, especially as he's proved so productive from the right before.

Would be a touch of the Layuns if this were to happen.

Could maybe be a little more robust but coming into a messy squad situation in Jan after a full season elsewhere and then playing in a different position I thought he did OK.

One of the few that seems to see the killer pass even if it doesn't come off. Think he'll do alright this coming season.

Also if I was him I would have no interest in going to Forest.

Turns 27 this year and never been in or around the Danish squad, regardless of talent ahead of him. Not even given a look for a friendly against San Marino or equivalent

He had one great season but mid table in the Championship is his level.

I think he would be better in the prem than the championship, and I certainly don't think his potential value would be harmed after a season with us, so I can't see the point in selling unless we really are desperate for a few bob. Keep him.

He was a bit of a late bloomer so not sure that means too much. There is a lot of top players in the Danish squad.

He played pretty well in the Europa league. Agree he hasn't shown enough atm to be playing regularly for us, but there is a player in there that is far better than mid table championship.

Clubs have had no gate money for over a year - where do you imagine a Championship club is going to find a big bag of money? - many are fighting to keep the liquidator away from the door

As i said - if the assessment is that he can play at PL level then we wont't sell for even 5m - but if the view is that he won't and we need to fill squad numbers with players who can make it - then we sell. Only abroad and Championship will be in the market and we will get less as a result - it is not an embarrassment - it is the way it is. How many Championship clubs have made a significant signing so far? - yes you are right - none!

Forest have spunked loads of money on ***** in recent years. Their owner is extremely wealthy. If all they can muster is £2m then tell them to piss off. Unless a right winger is coming in this window - Zink is going to be playing due to AFCON.

Zink has a long time left on his contract so we have no need to sell. Why sell a player who is expecting to play for us next season, for a pittance?

Liverpool manage to get so much for Solanke, Brewster etc because they turn down bids for players even when they have no intention of using them if people don't meet their valuation.

Can be difficult to join a team mid-season. Looked to me he played like he thought he was Billy big bollox and I like that attitude. I hope we keep him, but if we don't it'll be because the staff have decided he's not that good, a bit of a moaner or both.

Hard to judge as we never played him in his preferred position out wide. Definitely showed some moments of quality when afforded time and space on the ball but for the most part looked surprised at how quick the game was.

In fairness, he did adapt off the ball and started working a lot harder to close people down, get back into position but still wanted too much time to make decisions going forward.

Oh and that free kick against Luton...

A lightweight winger we bizarrely played as a centre mid, often not even as the most advanced of the three.

I'd like to see what he can do out wide in the actual position he's built a career upon.

I’m afraid I don’t subscribe to this idea that any player is ‘better’ or ‘more suited’ to the higher division. The PL is more difficult and has better players than the Championship. In the specific case of Zinckernagel, I think it’s possible that he will improve through being more settled in the UK and at the club than he was after joining midway through a season.

I agree that I don't see Forest finding a big bag of money, so I don't see them meeting our demands. All that should matter is his value to us - we are in a position of strength having just been promoted and with him on a long term contract. I can't see why we would be desperate to sell as he is IMO one of our better attacking players.

    So mow we are Liverpool?

And the reason cliubs aren't spending is because they are potless

I am not saying we should sell - but there is no space in the squad for people who cannot play at that level - like you i have no idea whether he can - I suspect the club does know and only that is relevant - if we sell it won't be for 6m - that i guarantee
