Looked decent at Galatasary last season.

 

Comments from from fans of his formed clubs are as follows:

Feirense said when he was motivated he was one of the best players in the league. Could play every position and do everything. Then a move fell through and he downed tools and was awful.

Stoke fans said when motived he was decent but didn't really fancy it there and they were glad to see the back of him.

Galatasaray fans seem to think he is awful, but the stats nerds seem to say he stands up well.

I like that Dux banged on about learning from mistakes our relegation season with bad attitudes, and then has promptly filled up the squad with guys like Dennis and Etebo who are best remembered by fans of the clubs they were at for being *****.

 

We’ve taken a fair few gambles this window, haven’t we? I reckon we don’t have a pot to piss in

 

Mate who is a Stoke fan said "He's class. In the first season we were down he was by far our best player - proper box to box midfielder". Can't see any downside to this deal.

 

Also - is there a growing market in Nigeria we’re trying to tap in to? We have five Nigerians on the books now.

 

Literally no idea but welcome Etobo!

Hoping we sign his mate Chocobo next, that's my final fantasy for this window.

 

My guess is that African players come cheap this year as nobody else would want to sign a player who'll be off for a month in January!

Fletcher - bad attitude
Dennis - bad attitude
King - bad attitude
Etebo - bad attitude

Probably missing someone, but maybe, just maybe, it’s not so much their attitude, more to do with poor management from the other clubs?

Xisco will put his arm around them and they will turn into superstars.

 

Worth noting that was in the Championship mind you. Carlos Sanchez looked decent at that level.

 

I suppose in mitigation we could say that Fereinse are a tinpot Portuguese team (well done on tracking down their opinions lol), and Stoke were an absolute shambles? We've seen here that players who are apparently bad eggs leave the club to somewhere bigger and less chaotic where they are as happy as Larry, you'd hope he'd be more motivated to play for us than any of those clubs!

 

I'd be interested to know how his two loan spells in La Liga went tbf, especially at Getafe who were in Europe at the time (albeit I know they are the Burnley of Spain!). I hope he's considered a squad member, if he's a replacement for Hughes/Chalobah he'll have a job on his hands

 

I hope so! A bit of a gamble, and as barelylegal points out, flies in the face of what Duxbury said earlier, but we are a much more attractive proposition at the moment than Feirense or Stoke. Just got to hope he doesn't attract interest from Everton!

 

I recall when he first broke onto the scene everyone had big hopes. I guess he took one look at Stoke on Trent and thought 'what the f...'

If Xisco can help him realise his potential he'll be a great signing, if not... hasn't cost much. What's not to like about this one?

 

Etebo is really good, very happy with this one.

I'm fairly upbeat about this signing, Stoke fans are mostly very positive about him and seemed to think he was too good for the Champ, and the main issue was that he realised it as well and downed tools when it appeared they weren't getting promoted. He could turn out to be a better player than some of the others we've been linked with like Kamara, yet signed on loan and with a lower potential fixed fee.

Only slight issue is that he appears yet another midfielder who is more of a ball-carrying no.8 than a destroyer-type no.6, but his ball-winning stats still look decent and he probably has a bit more energy and grit than anyone we've currently got. He's another one with plenty of pace who'll be decent for our counter attacks.

Oh, does no one at the club realise the Afcon is this Jan?

 

I have heard nothing but good words about Fletcher as a bloke to be honest.

I think the issue with him is just that he is ***** awful.

 

If this is our replacement for Hughes I am not enthused. Not convinced any lessons have been learnt over the last 24 months, we appear to be building a team of mercenaries but I'll get behind them and hope they prove me wrong.

 

We've signed the ultimate 'questionable attitude' 11. Perfect fit for a club whose players have always downed tools at the slightest sign of being asked to work hard.

Christ, this club has learned absolutely nothing. We've brought in a host of players who are strongly reputed to be 'bad eggs.'

Until he marches onto the Vicarage Road pitch and drops a log on the centre spot then I'm willing to focus on his football ability, which is very good. Certain players don't fit in at certain clubs, I'm not concerned at all that Stoke fans think he has a bad attitude just because he wanted to get out of that dump.

 

It's so interesting to see our polar opposite transfer strategies depending on what division we are in. Last year we filled the squad with slightly limited good eggs (Gosling, Troost, PZ, Sema back from loan) whereas this season we are solely targeting dangerous bad boys looking for one last score before escaping to Mexico, who have such bad attitudes they make Mario Ballotelli look like James Milner.

 

He also won POTS down there.

It was probably however many years he did, or didn't, spend in Nigeria.
