We ought to try to find out who "Keighley" actually was and what has happened to him. A forum mission !! Law professor based in Bristol (where did he lecture - did he say?), presumably previously lived in Keighley ? Or surname ? Must be possible to work out. Have the mods sent an email to his email login address ?

 

Fair enough, it's fine for us to disagree on this. I'm certainly not saying the players didn't like him, I'm sure the opposite was true, just that I thought the on-pitch effort, which had been great, seemed to wane over the 2nd half of the season. Maybe they were just knackered ?

Too much smoke without a fire. Don't think Louza would have stayed anyway but although Sun is a rag of a paper they have been right about us before behind the scenes.

 

I mean, to be fair, it's all the same one piece of smoke, just recorded from different angles. As someone already said over on his transfer list page when this article was posted, it doesn't seem to include any actual reporting of privileged insight at all. It reads entirely as though they have read the twitter rumours and reprinted them. As an article, it barely exists.

That doesn't mean definitively that this incident has not happened, of course; it's possible, despite how relatively implausible it seems. But I really don't think this adds much of anything to how we assess that likelihood, myself.

This is how these rumours often get boosted utterly falsely via various whispers and unsourced repetitions and suddenly becomes 'the jigsaw of evidence is overwhelming!', though, isn't it. It's basically the scene in 'The Big Short' where Selena Gomez and Richard Thaler explain synthetic CDOs.

What on earth makes you think this Sky? We have a decent new manager with a history of winning promotions, a player we signed when we were in the PL sees his future slightly higher than at a 15th place division 2 club and wants a move, and 2 + 2 makes this?

He’s hardly inherited a squad that has over-performed in 2025, although there were some mitigating circumstances.

The unfortunate thing with rumours is they become hard to prove or disprove. It will now be accepted in many places that Louza and Pezzolano had a fall out (not entirely a rare event on training pitches at football clubs) and of course Pezzolano has replaced Tom, ergo it must be true as he’s the big bad wolf by association. They may well have done, you and I will probably never ever know. I still think more likely is the fact Louza joined us as a PL club, had a very decent season just gone and sees his career developing higher than a mid table Division Two club, but I don’t know this for sure so I can’t say why he wants to leave. Maybe it’s a combination of both.

There seems little doubt that Tom was popular with the players, and any new act will have a tough job to replicate that. But if people want or are expecting Tom mark two, then there would have been little point in replacing him in the first place.

Players liking a coach doesn't mean much. The players liked Mike Keen. I liked his replacement.

Always laugh when I hear him used as a reason to not replace a struggling manger and give a man time. So they shouldn’t have fired Ron Atkinson and given SAF his job then ??

 

Weakest squad in years and a manager that can't speak English? What could possibly go wrong.
