Aren't the young players more likely to have downy fluff rather than feathers? You're the bird expert...

Bloody hell, even by my standards this guy is in off the deep end.

I do actually quite like Pezziwig's airs here, in the club's vid - and whether he is slightly disappointingly mentioning his English studying in the video, we can also extrapolate that he is not actually literally at the 'I like, very good, yah' stage of having had his first lesson yesterday afternoon. If he's a quick study, and we can but pray, it could be fine pretty soon.

Person who runs that account may be a bit of a bell end but they did know about the players not being paid before it was public knowledge so they obviously speak to someone at the club.

On another note, pretty impressed with Pezzolano's English, better than I thought it would be. In between Xisco and Quique I'd say, certainly no Mazzarri.

His English is fine. He might need a translator for more detailed stuff but there's no need for the pants wetting on Twatter.

I personally found him easier to understand in that club video today than I ever did Roy Hodgson during his time with us.

It’s the close season. We have nothing else to chat about but transfer rumours or bust up rumours. Once the friendlies and then the real stuff begins, we will have some proper football to get our teeth into, and then and only then do I think it’s fair to start judging the new manager.

People are entitled to believe what they wish, I have no issue with fans who already hate this new guy because he’s not Tom or because he’s not C2 in English or whatever else, I have no issue with people who might genuinely know what sort of early impressions he’s making on the training pitch, or people who think they might know. We are all supporters of the same club, it would be a shame if Pozzo keeps inadvertently dividing us all or creating factions. Tom in or out, Pezzolano in or out, we still all support WFC.

Personally I’m looking forward to seeing what Pezzolano brings, he has a good record of success elsewhere but not yet in England, I will judge him on results not his English, his looks, on who he isn’t, or on rumours that he might have upset a few players who’ve been underperforming since January. Results, results and only results, thank you.

Whether any bust up has happened or not, the new manager will either start with respect and have to lose it to change opinions or start at zero and have to earn respect. Coming in as someone who I’d guess none of the squad have ever heard of, and replacing a manager they all liked means he’s very much in the latter category. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be respectful and do their jobs, but whether you are / were pro TC or not, I’d assume everyone can agree the players definitely worked hard for him. If the new guy can’t get that extra percent out of them it could be a tough start to the season.

I don’t agree the players worked hard for him after Xmas. Before Xmas, absolutely.

I'm calling BS that it's an unhappy camp after one week of pre-season. It's not possible. They've literally been doing stretching and bleep tests.

Judging on results is fine, but tempered, as ever, by the quality of the squad provided.

The "quality of the squad" is always a little subjective though. Last season we had a PO challenging squad pre Xmas and a bottom-placed squad post Xmas under the same manager.

There’s no way that squad was challenging the play-offs with the striking options we had. Many of the home wins in the first half of the season were quite fortunate. You only have to look at the away record and performances over the same period to know that.

As I say, it's subjective. We WERE challenging for the playoffs pre Xmas, and we WERE the worst team in the second half, both facts, with the same manager. So there's no objective marker for how good the manager is vs how good the squad is. Maybe my good friend xG is the best tool, and that had us about 16th IIRC, but again it doesn't assess just how effectively the manager is using the players at his disposal. We have such extreme spells it's safe to say the squad quality was somewhere between 6th/7th and 24th.

Disagree, I think it’s one of the bog standard go to responses of fans when we’re losing. Not one of those to spend hours going back over old match day threads, but the general comments used to be about poor team selection, poor subs, subs too late, lack of a plan, quality of the players and of course a lack of goalscorer, but lack of effort wasn’t generally the view with TC teams. In fact I know some used to mock how much the players lauded over TC , pushing him in front of the fans, lifting him up. They clearly liked him, liked playing under him and (in my opinion) always worked hard for him.
