Hopefully FIFA dish out the harshest possible sanction, Gueye has to honour his original contract and join Troy's Championship cloggers. That'll bring the **** down to earth a bit.

I could be wrong but as a far bigger club than ourselves, I'm sure they will have a better/bigger legal dept than we do - admittedly thats just an opinion though, nothing more.
  4. Yes but we have contacts who fake bank documents and the like. We should be able to assemble a pretty conclusive set of docs that prove he was our player irrespective of the facts or whether or not they have better lawyers.

I would have thought that any legal dispute that makes it this far would not have been handled by an in house team, and would require outside counsel. At the point, you generally get what you’re able/willing to pay for - which would be a function of the club’s finances and commitment to litigation. The only advantage for Marseille I can sense (and this is speculation) is that FIFA panels and the Court of Arbitration for Sport are quite French/continental in character so it could be that French lawyers are more familiar with navigating those environments.

It was more that it was mentioned it’s another club who won’t do business with us but actually we probably haven’t upset them. Have we c0cked up? Probably

To be fair Marseille probably reflected that they were up against the club who had to pay for Zuniga after Napoli had sold him to someone else so probably fancied their chances.

    By this stage, yes.

But my original comment was regarding the initial issue of Marseille looking at whatever our deal was with Gueye, which I doubt would have been looked at by outside counsel.

If Marseille have been negotiating with us then that surely implies that they are in the wrong. If they weren't they would have refused to negotiate at all.

I've heard it's being handled by Harry the Hornet backed up by Kevin Affleck.

Does this mean we can add Marseille to the list of clubs (recent additions include Cadiz and Real Sociedad) that hate us?

If it's not Roberto Pereyra, Kevin Affleck has no interest.

God, the endless fawning he made over Bobby P.

Don't forget Newcastle. The most hated man in football hates us. It's quite the achievement.

Lol I had forgotten all about that Twitter post.

    A magical day.

You know you're a big club when you get to live rent-free in the heads of supporters from other countries.
  18. El distraído

    Who, Marseille?

Because if we take them to court and win, they could end up with a transfer ban and/or hefty fine.

Now, this would be reasonable punishment and you would expect most rationally-minded individuals to point the finger at the offenders rather than the accusors.

However, we have to remember that football supporters are notoriously irrational. Think about the whole debacle with Cadiz and Zaragoza fans as an example.

Wasn't there a payment issue in regards to sell fee? Didn't that affect our attempt to sign someone from them in January?

From what I can gather they wanted the money we still owe them from the Sarr deal before they would negotiate with the player we wanted. However the money we owe them isn't late and like most deals is to be paid in instalments over the length of Sarrs contract, but due to the financial issues plaguing French football at the moment they could really do with that money now so asked us to cough up early as part of the deal.

They are a big club but they are a mess and their hierarchy haven't got a clue. The fans set fire to the training ground a few weeks ago in a protest against their owners. COVID has also been tougher on their bank account than many other teams as they earn a lot of their revenue from fans. This is probably the last thing that Marseille need now and Gino probably knows that.

Started yesterday in Marseille's defeat to Championnat 2 (Fourth tier) side Canet Roussillon in the Coupe de France. A truly remarkable result considering that Canet havent played football in months since the season was suspended in October 2020 due to Covid. This result has given a weird schadenfreude thrill.

Not much left in the way of Roman ruins. Nimes is the place to go.

Most of it unexcavated, the theatre is impressive with the columns of the stage. Nimes has these two spectacular gems among other monuments:
