Is that confirmed now? earlier it was a suspected break but they wouldnt be sure until he had a scan later this evening, great shame if so, he was just starting to show the form for england i have known he has had for a long time, i have always followed his football at bayern, would be a shame if he was to be out for any length of time just as he got going, though it would leave the way open for Aaron lennon to break into the starting line up.

Owen Hargreaves looks certain to miss England's next two Euro 2008 qualifiers after suffering a suspected broken leg whilst playing for Bayern Munich.

The busy midfielder was carried off in the first half of Bayern's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday afternoon, and initial impressions suggest Hargreaves has sustained a serious injury.

Hargreaves had to be removed following a tackle with Thorben Marx after 24 minutes at the Schuco-Arena and Bayern's medical staff suspect the Manchester United target has snapped his fibula.

Coach Felix Magath confirmed Hargreaves will now undergo a scan to reveal the full extent of the damage.

"We fear he might have broken his left fibula. I think he will be X-rayed," said Magath after the game.

With The Three Lions due to host Macedonia on October 7 before travelling to Croatia in what could be a crucial qualifier four days later, England coach Steve McClaren is now almost certain to be missing one of his starting XI as he looks to extend his perfect record after victories over Greece, Andorra and Macedonia.

After taking his chance to win over a sceptical English public at the World Cup finals, Hargreaves has emerged as one of his country's key performers in a withdrawn role in midfield.

The Canadian-born star hankered after a move to Manchester United over the summer but after being forced to stay in Germany his season has seemingly now suffered a telling blow.

fingers crossed its not as bad as feared, but if so then looks like he will have too look elsewhere, the fibea could put him out for a good 6 months.

Just as he was starting ot play well for England. Still gives an up and comming youngster a chance or possibly a window of opportunity for Beckham to come back in?
Lenon on the wing & Gerrard to move back inside?

that would be my prefered option, i feel Beckham needs to bring his game back into line and until he does that we should not entertain the idea of him coming back in, the shirt has to be earnt and i dont feel he should get one purely because of who he is and who he plays for.

Try Beckham in the centre - thats where he plays for real

I personally think Beckham is the past and not the future. More young players please. The good thing about our qualificiation group is that we have time to get the new blood in.

In the New of the World, it has got an article about Venables trying to tempt Scholes back out of retirement?

Should he come back or not?

    I rekon he should.

I dont think so, he was a bit of a legend for england but that was then, this is now, i would hope that maclaren would be a man with a vision and realise the potential that is on display week in week out in the prem.
Doing that would be a mistake and for saying that you may as well say why doesnt he give Beckham another go.
