I wonder why we played at home to Halifax on a Monday night? My memory from back then is that the only Monday games were at Christmas or Easter, or for Cup 2nd replays.

 

Also the Scunthorpe game in '77 was a 2:15 kick off ?

 

That must be something to do with not using floodlights. The match would be over by four. Power cuts maybe?

 

I wonder if it was done as a favour to Halifax? They played Plymouth away the Saturday before so maybe we brought the game forward by a day to lessen their travel costs and they stayed down south for both games rather than going back to Yorkshire.

 

Yes there were power cuts at the time due to strikes by electricity workers. Nearly half the Saturday games kicked off at 2.15pm or earlier.
