I too have a very decent wage but my wife isn't working as she is bring up our one year old (older child at primary school anyway) but I agree that I probably fit in the same category as you. Good answer I suppose, other than my mortgage, I have no other debt.
You're going to have a massive bump back to reality when you try and get a job after graduating, sorry Squib (Don't stop dreaming though)
I don't see too much on twitter however some Man United fans are saying that neither Ogo Obi or Oscar Borg both of whom were on trial have been taken on. Does this mean that Ogo will remain at Watford
We should tell him to either sign a long term contract with us or get stuffed. Otherwise he's just looking for the next chance to step up while using our facilities/coaching to develop himself like a parasite.
Isn't he too young to sign a long contract. Frank Smith responded to me over twitter and said that he was working on an Article but is unable to publish it at the moment. It will be out in due course. Assume that means that discussions are ongoing
He can sign a pre-contract agreement with use before turning 17. Murray did it and I'm sure other have as well, EPPP hasn't stopped that procedure from happening at least not yet. It'll be worth giving him a 1 year with option of another on comparable wages to other first year pros when it kicks in.
Looked like he was all set to sign before the arrival of Falcao Another English youngster pushed out for a fancy foreign import and we wonder why we can't win the World Cup
In fairness I think ManUre have got this one wrong. Obi is clearly far better than Falcao. Did you see Falcao tearing the Milk Cup a new one last year? I don't think so.
I think people like IRB are too young to remember Mark Falcao in his prime. Good that he's still getting a game.
I wonder when we'll find out whether or not Obi is staying. If his United move does fall through, I believe we should offer him a final 'take it or leave it' contract. Upon signing it, Obi would not be allowed to go on trial at anymore clubs. Either he stays at WFC for the remainder of his scholarship and agrees to the 1 yr professional deal that was in our original offer, or he goes. He should not be allowed an opportunity to stall on our offer in the hopes that United reconsider or the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea etc. come calling.
So player comes back with tail between his legs http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/11475037.Ex_Manchester_United_trialist_signs_with_Watford/
I was disappointed when I read that he had gone to Man Utd on trial, but happy to hear that they opted against signing him and even happier to hear that he has signed for us. Undoubtedly, United turning him down has swayed his decision, I just hope that with the guarantee of a 1 yr professional deal, he will continue to work hard for this club and not decide that it's ok if he takes his foot off the pedal. He sounds like a terrific young talent and I'm very glad he's decided to sign with us, I just think that at his age, mentality is the most important thing and it's so important that he has the right one.
Think it will better in the long run coming here and you can't blame the kid for having his head turned by United. Good luck to him
I am concerned however with the Pozzos handling of the squad and transfers. Every summer brings a massive recruitment drive, and with their fanatical desire to gain promotion, I fear for the likes of Mensah, Jakubiak, Ikpeazu, Obi and Folivi (assuming he signs) getting the first-team opportunities that they so badly need to reach their potential. Say what you like about the previous regime, but then we played plenty of academy products. Yes it was more down to necessity and not the luxury of having a choice in the matter, but it's a little sad how times have changed.
No timescale for promotion and I think you're being a little harsh. I'm sure they want promotion just like every other club in the division. I think the Pozzos have been pretty good with getting promising talent first team football, whether it be at Watford or on loan at Crewe, Oxford or wherever.
They get their football out on loan and if they're good enough then they'll play, just like Hoban. Why would we play youngsters who aren't good enough for the first team just because we had to do it a few years ago?
