Seeing how this argument is likely to linger, here's my tiebreaker: Aston Villa only gets you 13 points, whereas Watford yields 14, ergo Watford is bigger!
imagine a lut*n fan coming on here and seeing us saying that winnin trophys is a barometer of bigness of club
Blackpool and Preston North end used to be massive clubs, Coventry were for years mainstays of the premier league, Forest and Leeds were both Champions league teams, (Forest won it twice) but look where they all are now, I think Villa are a team in decline, and when they do drop, they won't bounce straight back up, just look at the Championship it is littered with teams that have failed to do so.
Aston Villa also have more letters that appear in the word "TINPOT" than we do. Therefore we're bigger and better.
The Royal Engineers were massive in the 1870's winning the FA Cup and getting to the final another three times.
I recall Villa going down to the third once in the late 60s, but it didn't stop them from being a big, big club. However club's "size" can definitely change over time as others have pointed out. We are now much much "bigger" than we used to be. Probably 3 or 4 times the size from when we were really tinpot. The ground's bigger, the last of the old stands has gone, the quality of player is immensely better and of course the fan base has increased in size considerably. That is, many of y'all have showed up. We used to be a natural born 4th division club. About the size of Orient and about as successful. Other older supporters must remember standing in a pitifully empty rookery at 5 to 3 thinking, I hope some more people turn up - this is embarrassing. I remember you could have the lower Rouse more or less all to yourself if you wanted on a Saturday afternoon. Nothing but empty seats from one side to the other. Splendid isolation. I remember when we first went up and played West Ham at home, all 4 sides of the Vic were full of their bloody supporters. We lost (or drew - can't remember, low scoring game with unsatisfactory outcome is all I remember), but there was barely a peep from Watford fans. Most of all I remember that when I started following Watford, I considered L*t*n to be a much "bigger" club than us and look at those dismal pub league winkstains these days....
Having only read the first and the last page of this thread I'm trying to figure what has been said leading to discussing the size of L*ton town. And I haven't got the slightest...
Wish we had a crisp 10m smackers right now instead of his four goals and the points they helped us collect.
Every time I think Ighalo has reached his limit he just goes and hits a whole new level. It's fantastic to watch. Seriously, he is starting to make me believe in god. #itmustendinpraise
Old Etonians were massive too, but they couldn't take the disciplined lifestyle needed for top footballers and slipped away from the game to run the country, and/or London.
Gestede plays for Aston Villa and Atsu is a Chelsea player who has done nothing at Everton and Bournemouth, that's how!
Christian Atsu made a grand total of 13 appearances for Everton last season and scored exactly 0 goals, it is absolutely baffling how he is in the list over Ighalo
Because Ighalo played in the championship last season and therefore might've not played at all as far as this sort of award is concerned.
They would have been stupid not to. We would also be stupid to sell until the end of the season, regardless of price. For me at the moment he and Deeney are crucial to the club, if either gets injured we could be fooked.
I make so many ****-ups on here that it's great to see others do it too! I've wanted both Joka and QSF out at times so don't worry WAS
And to think you want to work in football! Lucky it's not as Director of Football! Haha only joking Reids!!
