We all knew he had to leave and it was best for everyone. He really hasn't been good at all for over a year so £20m is a good fee. I must admit I have been harsh in my criticism of him but he did do incredibly well for us in the championship and the first half of last year which mustn't be forgotten - good luck to him.
I'm going to buck the trend on this forum......as always. I don't wish he was 6 foot under I don't hate the **** I won't be having a street party In fact I don't wish any ill on the guy at all!! I think he's been great for us, and I'm a little sad to see him go. I wish him all the very best, and I'm sure he'll score a hatful out there.
Thank You for the goals that helped us win promotion and then the goals that gave us all those invaluable PL wins before the post-Christmas slide got us all a little nervous. And while Gued's rocket got all the headlines, it was you whose goal got us started on that memorable day at the Emirates. In all my years supporting us, it's hard to remember a bigger more recent fall from grace for any player in terms of form, but that shouldn't detract from the happy memories Ighalo gave us. Something wasn't right this season and a move could well be the best option for both parties, but in my opinion to celebrate this transfer without at least acknowledging his huge contribution during happier times smacks of the very PL elitist attitude most of us hoped we'd never adopt after our promotion. Just saying.
I must admit to a tinge of sadness. He gave us some great memories. Good luck Iggy, go scoop them Chinese defenders.
I don't think you're bucking the trend, I doubt any Watford fan actually wishes any ill on the guy. Most of the comments you refer to are poor attempts at humour. I'd say the majority of Watford fans are happy to see him go, but hopefully that he can have a good career out in China and wherever else he goes.
Agree but I think it was the right time for both parties that he moved on My photo in front of the board at Granada of him and Nyom (legends board) last year is now less meaningful
On a fantastic night for the club, it was sad to witness, what appeared to me, a moving and genuinely sincere interview that Iggy gave to SKY. I sense that he was truly shattered to leave. Very thankful to and complimentary of our club. Hope he does well and enjoys the huge fortune.
China isn't so bad, Good-bye Iggy and good luck. I'm sorry is shouted at you and I love you really, even when you were rubbish, I still held you in my heart. You'll be a success in China and come back to Europe when you've found your touch again
He frustrated me as much as anyone. But this breaks my heart. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...lo-says-watford-fans-will-remain-in-his-heart
I agree, that interview was heartfelt and I thought there was a tear in his eye. I wish him well and thank him for all that he has done for us.
After tonight's reaction its clear that Ighalo had lost the dressing room edit - **** sake, should probably have watched the interview before I posted that ^ :'( Heartbreaking tbf
Haven't posted on here in ages, but Iggy's interview genuinely moved me. As short in confidence as he has been this season, he deserves huge thanks for his work getting us into the prem, and subsequently keeping us there. He's also been an absolute gent during his time here, and his comments about how much the fans appreciation meant to him are nice to hear. Hopefully he's set his family up for life with this move, but it was still saddening to read that he didn't want to leave. He won't go down in history as a legend, but he has still been hugely important for this club, and should be remembered as such.
Wow, that was a really emotional interview. How different from most of the footballers around. It does go to show how supporting players even when they are struggling can really have an impact.
I will miss him and his chant dearly. He provided me with some memories that will never leave me, namely his brace against Liverpool last season and putting us in the driving seat at the Emirates last season. He dragged us kicking and screaming towards the Premier League when it seemed like our charge might falter in the final 15 games of the promotion season, and then did the damage early enough last season to put us safely in a place where we were never really in danger. The interview is truely saddening. He clearly loves the club and the fans, and i'm not entirely sure whether the move to China is what he wants at this time for him and his young family, but at the same time, I also get the impression he feels it is the best thing to do too as he seems unable to rediscover the form he had. Great player. Great memories. And all the best to you Odion Ighalo-Oh! I will follow the remainder of his career with a sense of intrigue, and would love to think he'll be back at The Vic someday as a fan or in some capacity.
Oh ****. I've never seen a player look so sad about moving on. Its not just about the money for every player. Is it too late to change our mind ? Do you think they'd sell him back for £30m ??
