Linked with some Italian outfit: https://www-tuttomercatoweb-com.tra...7077?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-GB
Think that’s bull hooks. Written by someone clueless saying he’s not had much game time. That’s because he’s injured you doughnut. We’re desperate for a new CB yet send our best one to Udinese!!
Surely rubbish unless we are making the excuse he is injured to cover the fact he isn’t happy here for some reason which there is no indication of.
Yeah I think there is a bit of 2+2 = 8 here. Udinese are in the market for a CB and the tuttoudinese guy has just looked at our squad and thought “he was decent in Italy and isn’t getting much playing time.”
To be fair he might also have looked at how Pozzo absolutely skinned us on Pussetto last time we were in a relegation January window and hit the jackpot.
This is funny because it's totally invented moon-man stuff, but I'll still now spend every second of the next 33 days with one eye open, waking with sweat-soaked sheets sticking to me in the middle of the night as I worry over the possibility of it actually happening.
It looks like Pussetto might be sold in Jan to another Serie A club for £5m or so which would be nice.
If by nice you mean that we signed a wimpy winger for £7m when we needed to bolster our defence, got relegated, loaned him back to the club we bought him from for a couple of seasons and might now sell him at a £2m loss despite better performances over the last two years, then I agree.
Maybe he wants to go back to Italy ? In which case a move to Udinese makes perfect sense. For a fee of £37.25 of course.
But we didn’t really sign him for £7m did we? I don’t think there is too much value looking at fees paid for players moved between us and Udine as it is largely a function of accounting between the two clubs. Here’s an opportunity to realise some cash for him from an external source which is money coming into the Pozzo network and Watford specifically.
We have but a) the official fee is undisclosed and b) there is clearly a difference between fees between Watford and Udinese and fees with other clubs. I would be happy to get some cash in for Pussetto even if it means selling at a slight loss. Currently we have no cash for him. £5m could pay for a decent CB or cover loan and wages for a clear upgrade etc and he’s hardly pulling up trees at the moment anyway.
I don’t know why people moan about the Pussetto transfer, he was vitally needed player at the time, it was glaringly obvious he was exactly what a relegation haunted team needed, and he helped us avoid relegation so he’s more than paid for himself over and over again… that’s presumably how it panned out isn’t it?
Do we actually know if Nkoulou is any good yet? He looked great because he was playing alongside the other gash in our defence and seemed to be a semi-capable footballer.
Why? The two sets of accounts are separate and you can bet football authorities will have checked no financial irregularities are in play. Yes, deals have taken place where each club gets players for well under market value - but the Pussetto deal was in the accounts. We did sign him for £7m, there's no getting around it by saying 'yeah, but Udinese...' I agree that if someone now signs him from us for £5m then its better than we could have hoped for and I think this is kind of what your point was. But what @Steve Leo Beleck said was also correct.
We don’t at all. It’s rather scary how highly rated he currently is, we’re talking about a free agent here that has played barely more than one game for us. How many false dawns have we had as Watford fans in the same way, Paredes, Nyom etc. His current status is mostly just a damning indictment of the state of our other defenders more than anything.
And probably because we only lost to Arsenal 1-0 and beat Everton /Man U with him in the team . So straight away people might think he made a big difference.
Don’t get me wrong, obviously I hope he’s a success and I think he can be a success, but can anybody say on the balance of probabilities, if he ends up playing a string of games and makes a few mistakes like the rest of them, that would be more of a surprise than him turning out to be brilliant?
What were the fees for Pereyra, Deulofeu? Are they shown in the accounts? Did we pay full market value (cue joke) for WTE? Certainly the authorities would view grimly outlandish fees for players that are way off base but valuations are generally fluid and arguable. Given the overall picture of intra-network transfers it’s hard to determine how much this one ‘cost’ even though it is reflected in the accounts. Either way, if we can flog him for over £5m+ and invest that sort of fee in a player this month that’s good news.
To be fair he looks like he has more ability than the other players. He has shown more understanding and better positioning in the few games he has played and he certainly has more composure which I would be confident in saying would lead to less mistakes.
Will say that it's actually drawn from more than just that incredibly base suggestion - he's rated higher than our other centre backs because the performances he gave showed him to be the best centre back at the club. He was literally better at the fundamental aspects of the position than the others - and that's not to mention his pedigree in terms of the clubs he has previously represented. I have no doubt he will make mistakes and he's not about to be poached by a top 6 club - alone, he's also not the answer. But I think it's a bit churlish to just chuck him in with the 'probably shyt too tbh' just for the shyts and gigs. I don't think anyone thinks he is 'brilliant', as a19 suggested, but that's also not really the metric we're judging him by.
A really interesting article by Marcotti about transfer fees and how they relate to club accounts. https://www.espn.co.uk/football/blo...player-trading-for-uefa-and-soccer-in-general
They still haven't realised he's injured have they. Still wouldn't put it past Gino to move him there. https://www.tuttoudinese.it/calciom...n-il-watford-ludinese-rimane-unopzione-calda/
Bizarre that they still haven't clicked. We have reported that he is absent because of injury plenty of times.
