Not sure when you had your last update on him but he seems fine now. Saw him in a pub one time before a home match. As for the offenders themselves, they've gone to court but I don't think there's been an outcome yet

Seen him in the SEJ bar a few times already this season. Looking good.

Unlikely as the report makes no mention of how it started.

I hope the whole truth comes out but these youths are denying the charges against them. Scum.

Surprise not to see this thread bumped, did people who didn't buy a programme (which makes at least 95% of us) not know he was going to appear and address the crowd at halftime? If not, I daresay there would have plenty more hanging round in the stands otherwise to greet him instead of the usual hurrying off for their hot drinks/snacks.

Anyway, lovely to see the Wolves lad who's been instrumental towards all this generosity appear with him, and very touching to hear that Nic had treated him to a ticket with him at Sunderland away, that's the kind of fan solidarity that can make football such a great sport to be part of. Shame so many in the Lower GT didn't seem to acknowledge his presence very keenly, it was almost as if some of the more casual fans (including some who had their backs turned throughout) didn't seem aware of what happened this time last year, as I find it hard to believe that any true football fan and decent human being wouldn't care.

But anyway, I enjoyed it. Probably the biggest positive for me of an otherwise disappointing match day, even if we've had worse games...

Good appraisal of what happened. Afraid to say that people have moved on, to a degree. Not saying that's right, but the attention span of human beings gets shorter all the time - see Alistair Campbell's theory that no major news story runs for more than eleven days.
I'm sure that the overwhelming majority of fans were delighted to see Nic back, but equally most have pushed the horrible events at Wolves to the back of their minds and are ready to move on.

I'd have stayed had I known - don't know why the club didn't put it in the pre match email or pre match review on hornet player.

I arrived 5 minutes late today due to transport issues so missed any announcement before the game :(

Great that he's back and hopefully 100%

    What did he say?

Did the Wolves fan say anything?

They both spoke pretty much saying thanks for all the support and fund raising.

When I got back to my seat for the 2nd half I was told he'd been on the pitch. If I'd have know beforehand I'd have stayed and applauded, like thousands of others I presume.

Just as Nic started to talk is when the supporter seemingly got taken ill in the VR End leading to lots of rubbernecking.

I was in the Rookery, but the activity was clear from there - this reminded me of something similar which happened in the VRE in 1996 when Leicester beat us 1-0 to relegate us.

Yes, that was terrible wasn't it? I was up the back of the stand and could see there was a young boy being looked after by a steward while the CPR was being given. And the CPR went on for ages. I never read about the incident afterwards but I hope it turned out okay.

Indeed. He was only just being taken out when Leicester scored meaning he was receiving treatment for close to 30 minutes in the stand.

It's surprising (or not for some people) how many Wolves fans are still peddling the "Nic was a known Watford/England/both hooligan" line along with the "he did cutthroat gestures at the Wolves fans in the stadium", "he phoned Wolves fans to set up a meet" etc etc. Even Ollie Floyd (the Wolves fan from Hemel who set up the fundraiser) is getting a load of stick from fellow Wolves fans. Unreal

How does the Football Banning Order (FBO) work? They weren't in the ground, does it mean on match days they aren't allowed within a certain radius of the stadium and/or Wolverhampton city centre?

shoot them into space and ban them from the planet. Absolute scum the lot of them, sentences far too light

Should have all be sentenced for GBH with intent.

Probably not light for their ages and charges involved but of course that depends on any previous. The oldest lad is still to be sentenced for GBH remember so I'd say we're looking at more than ten years between them.

You can't just hang it on, there needs to be proof. Difficult for those not battering his head

Not on this chain they are not. All very sensible responses, many calling for tougher sentences themselves.

This is pretty much the same reaction to when Troy was sentenced.

Who is to say that coming out of the sentencing and education programs that they won't turn their lives around.

OK not all of them will, but a few might

If you look at Troy as an example you have to say that although what they have done is horrifically wrong, there is nothing to say that won't learn from this

My understanding of Troy's incident and the many like it that happen in pubs, etc is that they are mainly spontaneous, even if the resultant injuries are just as serious. An OTT reaction that just goes way too far. I can identify with those sorts of incidents because most of us have witnessed or even been in incidents where drink takes over, although I am certainly not excusing anything.

But what gets me about the Wolves incident is that it was pretty much pre-planned via texts, etc, and they went out looking for a victim, chased him, knocked him to the ground and kicked him half to death.

In my mind they are totally different crimes. I am annoyed at what I think are light sentences, but I'm not surprised where the proof is less than perfect.

Why do we get someone saying something stupid like this on here every single time someone breaks the law? I'm sure I even saw someone say in a Ched Evans thread after he was convicted for rape that he should get a chance to rebuild his career with a comparison made to Deeney.

The comparison here is even more ridiculous. Deeney was on a night out and he and his group drunkenly found themselves in a scuffle with a another group of men. Deeney saw his brother being attacked, stepped in and stupidly went too far. These scumbags were hanging around the stadium and surrounding area all day looking for Watford fans to attack, found one, ganged up on him and in a completely unprovoked attack beat the absolute s**t out of him and even when he was unconscious carried on stamping on his head, leaving him with permanent and life-changing brain injuries. After this they hid, initially denied what they had done and even tried to shift the blame onto the victim as he learned how to walk and talk again. It's absolutely disgusting and irresponsible for you to even try to make a comparison between the two.

Ched Evans is innocent and that's official, I should hope he does get the chance to rebuild his career.

Oh and Troy saw his brother getting involved, where does the "attacked" come from?
