And to join a club where he could be sacked in weeks or months too !

He’d better carrying on at Ipswich .

I've heard it will be Sam Ucko in a dramatic reversal of hiring pensioners.

He is someone I would have loved to have taken over from Pekerman and Tocalli. Those two made Argentina unbeatable at u20 level and trained so many kids that went on to play for Argentina. Zubeldia would have been ideal to takeover as he is a magnificent coach with young players.

From his time at Lanus, Racing and Lanus again the number of high quality players he has moulded and turned into top class performers is something else. Tactically flexible and like most coaches asks for a high defensive press and lots of energy. His time in Europe with Alaves is a mark against him but he was sacked after just four games which indicates Gino must have had a word with the owner of Alaves.

That agent guy we work with (sorry, can't remember his name right Now), has he got any managers on his books? Could be a good place to start looking!

The name you are looking for is Moogie Buyout. Actually why not get Mogi on board full time as the manager. He, Gino and Scott can have a good old laugh as we ship another home loss to Reading.

I originally meant for us, however, it's fair to say it would be a gamble for him (or anyone else) to take the job here know just how awfully run a club we are!

Don't think anyone is "right" or "wrong" btw - as until a contract is signed and an announcement made, it could feasibly be anyone. Martinez is almost certain for me purely as he's allegedly agreed to take it (very recently), and we'd be bloody mental not to offer it to him once the role is actually vacant.

Doesn’t really matter who we get in, if Pozzbury aren’t willing to change, nothing will get better.

We’ll remain in the current death spiral of absolute nothingness, bouncing from one coach to another, all of whom fail to squeeze any further life from Cleverley, Cathcart and King Ken.

It's the Pozzo's refusal to let players move on without a fee when clearly not up to it that wrecks the whole model. 5 year deals for utter crap again and again.

Lot of hype about him - guess we won’t know either way unless he gets a go .

Yep, ******* brain dead use of limited funds.

Look at Palace, and how they addressed things getting stale by letting more than 10 first team players and a coach walk away in one summer. Completely revitalized their squad from top to bottom. It took balls, but it’s made a world of difference.

While we have players who were past their best 3 years ago, with multiple seasons left on their deals.

We joke about Pardew - but he’s just taken over CSKA Sofia who Giaretta has links to.

He’s one or two panic sackings away from the job.

I like Martinez and wanted him in before Ranieri but I have a feeling a certain Mr Dyche will be coming back. Still can't fathom why Burnley shifted him so late on in the season. Not the most exciting option but knows the league.

    That's a good read @LouOrns
I notice he's been at the club last summer but is he still around? If he is their choice and is willing to take the job there are a number of players who we have that I suspect won't fit his style so would make sense for him to be looking at this now. Leave Woy in charge till end of the season as we're down now but he could start his own work in the background. Not sure if that's possible

If the club are hell-bent on getting Marinez on board, why not sack the useless old man we have now, get him on board and get him involved in the workings of the club before we are relegated? Yes, he is going to start with a few losses, but so did CR70. He was given time after that awful run of games to try to turn us around. Yes he failed, but it looks like Martinez seems a good fit. It would give who we have on the books right now a taste of his tactics especially the players we retain next season.

It seems pointless keeping Roy on board when the players clearly don't want to play for him anymore and the attitude and results have been just as bad as CR70 was towards the end.

Thing is, despite their many shortcomings, they’re obviously not completely ********.

So how can paying Seb Prodl (one bizarre example I recall) what must be like £20k a week to not play be any better than losing him for free and saving a million odd in salary?

Cleverly & Cathcart must’ve cost us £5-10 million in salary the last 3 seasons right? Without contributing anything remarkable; surely letting a contract run out which costs you nothing but SAVES you the aforementioned figure and then reinvesting that figure in something with an upward trajectory rather than a dwindling ageing asset makes just standard business sense?

You don’t have to be football men, you don’t even have to have a degree for that logic. Which tells me even if it’s wrong there must be SOME logic for our contract extensions but what is it?!

Probably be sacked by the end of Pre season if he came now .

Bound to upset or fall out with someone when he asks for some say in proceedings .

    This bit resonates somewhat:

"Instead in 2017, he took the job at Osasuna, a recently relegated team from La Liga. It was a complete rebuild job given in La Liga, Osasuna conceded the most (94) and scored the third fewest (40) whilst finishing 19th on 22 points. The aim was to try and get into the playoffs, but that would be a tough ask given the sales of best players and ageing squad"

Think it’s known in some footballing circles that he’s said is not keen on taking on a new job until the summer.

Indeed, it’s been hinted that he has already been approached about the job when Xisco was sacked and that was his reasoning.

Not sure there’s much to gain from getting him in now anyway - I’d have done it weeks ago if that was the thinking.

I’ve heard the thing about not wanting to take a job mid-season, but I also recall he commented he was friends with Xisco and didn’t want to take the job on that basis either.
