Granada CF announce kit deal with LUANVI

After severing their problematic ties with Italian manufacturer Legea, Granada CF today officially announced a new deal with Spanish kit firm, LUANVI.

Via an official club statement: “Today, Granada CF officially announce that the sports brand LUANVI will be the Technical Sponsor for the next two seasons.

Granada CF has held meetings with various companies and sports brands and finally – for quality, willingness, enthusiasm and commitment shown from the first moment – reached an agreement with LUANVI, who from this season will supply the club.

This change has provided the Rojiblanco club with a leap in quality, which is important for both the club and the fans. It is also a committment by Granada CF to a national brand.”

Whilst the original contract with Italian firm Legea had been set to run until 2014, the relationship was beset by problems. The team kits for the 2011/2012 season, Granada’s first in the top-flight for thirty-five years, didn’t arrive until a matter of hours before the opening game against Real Betis.

The replica kits didn’t arrive until December, almost five months after the start of the season, angering both the club and the fans. In spite of this major marketing setback, last season’s Granada CF kits went on to become amongst the top five selling amongst Spains La Liga teams, in the last twelve months. Incredible for a newly promoted team and a sign of great interest in the club.

During a meeting last week with Granada CF Press & Communications Director, Javier Rufete, he explained to me that demand for shirts had been phenomenal last season. Both in Spain and internationally. This including thousands of Algerian fans, who wanted to order shirts with the name of their national team captain and iconic midfielder, Hassan Yebda.

Coincidentally, amongst many other clubs and national associations LUANVI supply, is the Algerian national team.

Granada CF and LUANVI have also announced that the new kits will be presented on Monday 9th July, the day before the club begins pre-season and will go on general sale from Wednesday 1st August.
