Not really "kit" related but its close enough. Had to grab this for £4.00 on the store. Love it! But not worth the £28.00 RRP.
I think it's the best executed of the three kits this season, but I'm not at all sure why it's purple, and I would have liked them to go quite a lot bolder, particularly given the staid nature of the home and away versions:
I do like it a lot, but the thing is I'd probably only buy without sponsor and without the sponsor it's a very plain t-shirt for £60! I might hold out til the end of year sales and, if any left, pick one up for £25.
I misread the context of the social media post - for a moment, I thought it meant the our first ever third kit. Not first ever purple outfield kit. I assumed it was another cynical marketing ploy like the Go Fund Me crypto b*llocks. I was wrong on this occasion and happy to hold my hands up.
I agree with the comments about us not needing a 3rd kit, but having worked at a club trying to flog them the contracts with the suppliers are set up in such a way to encourage multiple kits. Watford will have an agreement with Kelme that they have to buy X amount of football shirts per season from Kelme as part of the contract. I think the club I worked at was 10o,000. We sold on average 30,000 home shirts, 15,000 away which obviously leaves you with 55k you then had to sell. The issue is solved somewhat if you then produce a third shirt, a women's shirt, a bespoke charity shirt etc. A little insight if you've ever wondered why club's like Arsenal are always releasing a new shirt!
Finally a shirt I can proudly display the name INCE on! I like it, a lot more, should I say 'daring' of a colour that we would generally choose to go with. However I cannot see us wearing this much as a team, Hull and perhaps Norwich/Oxford away in a change from the away kit - which I think is the best looking out of the three.
The third kit might not be needed, but from a design perspective I quite like it. Purple makes for a nice change, and it's eye-catching without being garish.
Not overly impressed with any of the kits seeing them on fans yesterday. Yellow has the irritatingly flimsy wide neck and looks a bit plain. Black doesn't look as black as it does in the pictures. Maybe the light shining off the material but it looks a little grey in the light of day. Also looks really cheaply made. Only saw 1 purple and was probably the best of the 3 in my opinion but still not really worthy of £60 of my money.
I was going to get the black one as a treat to myself following a 5.4% back-dated (to May) pay rise. When I saw it 'in the flesh' it looked so cheap & nasty I changed my mind.
If the third kit was a house: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/gallery/2013/nov/18/looking-to-mauve-house Purple is an utterly ghastly colour.
Is it wrong to like that design? That collar looks really comfy. Change the colour to yellow with a bit of black and red on the arms/sides and even the sponsor is pretty cool, a worldwide known chocolate company.
Looks like the shirt contest is over, but they are offering a cash prize of £250.00 competition. https://homeandaway.cadbury.co.uk/
