New Grounds You Are Visiting Next Season?

Myself, needing a wheelchair and what have you, I haven't been to an actual 'live' match since Cardiff away, in our Ighalo/Deeney promotion season. Being Wheelchair bound its a pain in the ass logistically.

I've visited many of the North West grounds, but ain't been to Deepdale, yet. I understand it's the oldest ground in the world and stuff, so I might drive a friend to help me out in return for a free day out etc.

Any of you lot intending visiting new grounds next season? I ain't been to watch Blackpool either, so that could be another trip, but highly unlikely.

Rotherham and Bristol City for me. I've been to Ashton Gate before but not since they've tarted it up.

Considering how much better we were away last season (not saying much), I am hoping for a trips to Rotherham and Preston, two of the grounds of never been to. As a side note has anyone been to Valley Parade? Heard it was quite a cosy ground.

Yeah, Rotherham might be another new one for me too; but highly unlikely.

I've always wanted to visit Rochdale and Doncaster, and maybe in a few years Stockport County or Salford City.

No new ones for me unfortunately. I was hoping either MK Dons or Oxford Utd might get promoted as I have only seen WFC play friendlies at those grounds.

Not been to Middlesboro (went to Ayresome park) or Preston. I suspect it will stay that was as well

  7. Blackburn, Rotherham, Blackpool if I can be arsed.

    Not been to...

    Blackburn
    Blackpool
    Huddersfield
    Hull

Also been to Ninian Park a couple of times, but not the new Cardiff one.

Some beautiful parts of the country to line up a visit to.

Interesting, out of the first four I've only not been to Blackburn, though I only went to Blackpool as a neutral to see them play Accrington in League 2 in the 2016/17 season.

On the other hand, in addition to Blackburn I've not been to Birmingham, Bristol City (top of my list), Cardiff, Coventry, Luton, Middlesbrough, Preston, QPR, Rotherham and Wigan (the ones in bold many may be surprised to hear!).

Not a ground we get much joy out of though - never won there somewhat surprisingly, with seven straight losses in the last seven visits, and it doesn't look like we're going to redeem that in the league any time soon.

BTW, how come this was quoted with RS2 as the author?

Forgot Bristol City too. Hopefully can tie that one in to a trip to the Bristol office with work.

No new ones for me with Watford, unless we get one in the cups. Might get a couple of required L2 grounds with my Cobblers mate.

The ones I have never been to are Hull, Rotherham, Blackpool, Wigan and, strangely, Cardiff. So I hope to get to one or two of those. There is also a handful I have been to just once a while ago: Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Preston & Blackburn. Otherwise it’ll no doubt be going back to some of the old favourites: Norwich, Huddersfield, Bristol City etc.

Lots of venues for me to tick off watching watford. I lived near Preston 30 years ago but never saw watford at Deepdale, Elwood Park or Bloomfield Road. Wigan, and the new(ish) Hull stadium are ones i have yet to go to at all.

I expect though with the World Cup break, there will be even more midweek games to factor in. So hopefully some of those will be Saturdays, and petrol will not be more than £2 a litre!

Yes that was rather odd. Possibly a script error I assume.

Preston is one I have always wanted to do but it has never happened so I'm keen to go there. I've not been to Rotherham's new ground so that is another I'd like to tick off along with Cardiff & Swansea.

Bristol City is a decent away day but I've not been since their big changes. Nelson Mandela house is (or was, it was due for demolition last I heard) just round the corner as well if you are an Only Fools & Horses fan.

The trip to the filth should be interesting - a lot of the younger generation won't have been there on derby day.

Looking to go to Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Rotherham and Wigan as I have never been. One thing I always missed being in the Premier League was going to all the industrial northern towns on an away day - usually taking about 600 to the likes of Bolton. Going to Old Trafford just doesn't cut it for me, and bar Newcastle there's no where else worth visiting.

I don't think that's right - the one which was scheduled for demolition was in Acton, used in the earlier series.

Hoping to do a few aways this season and plenty of options. Though without the £30 price cap they have in the PL I imagine some will see us as Championship royalty and put us in their top category for pricing, which is a nuisance.

Only 6 I've not been to - Blackpool, Burnley, Cardiff, Sunderland, Swansea and Wigan. Will try to get a couple of those ticked off.

Always like Millwall, West Brom or Birmingham and Norwich for a day out. Coventry's probably closest to home and the outlaws live within walking distance of the Ricoh, so that'll be a dead cert.

I’d forgotten about the lack of a price cap. If tickets are much more than that I won’t go to so many - just the ones it’s worth making a weekend of.
One of the other downsides is that many of the grounds are rarely anywhere near full, so the experience is not so good. That’s certainly why I’ve never fancied going to Wigan.

I’m watching England so I’m bored. Am I the only one who thinks Southgate is hopeless?
I’ve done 35 Championship grounds. No new ones next season so hoping we get Crawley away in the cups or someone like that. Luton give the away team about 1100 so will be interesting to see how we allocate them. I normally look forward to the Norwich and London games as it’s easy from Suffolk.

I’m astonished there’s anyone who goes to games who still hasn’t been to QPR - we’ve played them so often over the years.

You are correct, the block of flats that was Mandela House, Peckham was in Stanley Road, off Bollo Bridge Road in Acton W3. There was three blocks, they disappeared a few years ago, now replaced with more modern though not as high social housing.

I applaud the decision to avoid anything to do with QPR, particularly boycotting handing them money. Unfortunately it’s a case of do as I say as probably it’s one of the grounds I have visited most of all.

    Me too.
My joy over relegation was made complete when neither MK nor Wycombe got promoted. They are 2 of the 25 current league clubs where I have yet to see us play. At least Grimsby got back in the league, to balance Scunthorpe going down. I just need them, Wrexham, Yeovil and Aldershot to do the same, at the expense of clubs I’ve never been to. At least the league 2/National League situation gives me something to get excited about when we’re *****.

When I started going to away games regularly in 1988/89 we were in a different division for many years, I do remember I couldn't go in 1999 as I was working, I pretty much stopped going to away matches by 2003.

I work a stones throw from Valley Parade and went a lot as a kid. Kind of my second team when I was a kid. I was actually watching a reserve game there 2 days before the fire

Hardly been to any away games ever. Watford is like an away game to me (200 mile round trip) so always take the opportunity to go to home games a few times a season. But I’ve finally given up playing football myself and thought it would be great to go to some away matches this year. Do you think I’ll be able to get tickets to most of them? I live right on the south coast (nearest team is Brighton) so they all look quite a trek, but hoping to make a weekend of it a few times. Be great if it was a promotion season!

In your opinions, best and worst away days on the schedule this season?

  34. UEA_Hornet

I reckon Luton aside all will be easy enough to get tickets for. Best and worst is very subjective - depends what you're after, whether you're travelling alone or with mates or whatever, how you're getting there etc.
