Chalobah's horrific touch and ponderous style of play would be horrendously exposed in the Premier League. Sounds like a perfect signing for Newcastle tbh.

Not sure what Newcastle or Leicester see in Chalobah that would make them better?

Weirdest of all how a professional journalist and, indeed, chief Newcastle writer for the North East's primary paper, manages to consistently get Choudhury's name so wrong.

Considering how most of the throbbing weapons on here can't spell Cleverley's name right, god help the forum if he does sign.

As Chalobah is right now, it's a weird one, however, I think it's an easy sell to make a club believe there is a player in Chalobah. He was so good when he was younger, that I think they would believe they could develop him.

Are Choudhury or either of the Longstaff’s the clear improvement we need? I’ve got big doubts about that.

#nufc 's best chance of getting Hamza Choubury is if Leicester land Nathaniel Chalobah of Watford. In turn, Watford want a replacement and that's how S Longstaff 's name ended up in a chat between agents. Hornets also asked about Choubury as a possible loan swap for Chalobah!

Assume Rodgers knows Chalobah from their Chelsea days. In two minds about him leaving but I think a move would do him good.

Only if any kind of decent fee was involved.
The club has spent a couple of years rehabilitating Chalobah after his injury horror and only now is he looking confident with his own body. The more games he plays the more he'll improve so it'll be a shame if he leaves now. If he keeps any kind of consistent fitness for the second half of the season he may start to show his qualities again on a regular basis, even more so next year.

    Yes.
Perhaps we may be able to thank 'Cardy Man" for giving hmi his two minute cap as it may add an extra amount to any fee.

    RODGERS CONFIDENT ON MIDFIELD DEAL

Leicester City are considering the possibility of a move for Watford midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah, as they seek midfield cover before the window closes tomorrow night.

And speaking after the 3-1 defeat by Leeds, Brendan Rodgers wouldn't confirm the club are after Chalobah, but is confident they can get a midfielder in.

"Our idea is to try and get in another midfield player, so if we can do that, then great. I think it will be good for the team, good for the squad. We have a gap there, so the club will work hard looking to get someone in. If we can, that would be great for us.

"I know Nathaniel from my time working at Chelsea, but I know lots of players, and there are lots of players we're looking at."

Let's be honest, Rodgers is one of the best coaches around. He'd have Chalobah back towards England level in a few months.

Rodgers stating that is pretty much confirmation Chalobah is off. Nate could be playing for a team in the CL let alone the Prem. I’m sure he’s on the phone to his agent and this deal will done tomorrow.

Well if he is then get the deal done ASAP so that the money can be used to bring in Siliki. We are incredibly thin in midfield in what is a gruelling end to the season it really could be survival of the fittest.

Would be a good move for all involved if we can get Longstaff or Choudhury in. I don't particularly like watching Chalobah at the moment, too slow, poor passing and an awful touch means it's really tough viewing. If he's in there to break play up then that sounds like one of the things Gosling is good at.

Got nothing against the guy though and I think working with Rodgers again might benefit him and give him some added confidence in his own ability. Can't see it happening but if he's just there to sit on the bench, occasionally help see out games and has been recommended by Rodgers then you never know.

It's all the same argument my friend. We have a ready made replacement for Femenia in Ngakia - a player who is more than good enough to play his part in getting us promoted. The club would benefit from cashing in on Femenia and reinvesting in a new striker, and perhaps even using some of the money to pay up Andre Gray's contract and move him on

They are grafters who can play a bit too. This team needs players with energy and f*cking grit to get us out of this division.

We've had too many passive, nice midfielders in our team this season like Garner, Quina, Chalobah. We need players to fight like animals as Munoz says and these 2 + Gosling fit that mould.

Yep, if we got decent money. He's seemed a bit of a nothing player when featuring lately.

Speaking as a bitter, cynical person, I'd be kind of annoyed if Chalobah suddenly gets to just swan off into an incredibly well-run and managed Premier League team out of the blue. He's spent the vast majority of his time here a permacrock, and when he hasn't been he's been mostly rubbish, brainless and not really incredibly bothered, all things considered. Not to mention joining Gray in his incredibly public flouting of lockdown rules, which somehow he mostly just managed to slither away from with relatively little mention (though I imagine not being literally the worst signing we've ever made and getting caught doing the exact same thing again aided him somewhat in that).

So yeah, that's it really. If he goes and it gets us some money to use, it could be a positive. But I'll always mutter under my breath when I see his name and wave my hand in a mild 'vvanker' gesture.

And obviously, if we don't get any money, I'm storming the hospitality section.

The notion that Chalabah will come on leaps and bounds is a nonsense in my view. Played about 6 good games under Silva. Good under Zola. Either side of that 4 years of poor form/development and then a horrendous injury followed by 2 years of even worse form. He’s 26 and bottom half championship standard I’m afraid. Thinking he will burst back into form is a comfort blanket.

Nailed it. Chelsea handled his development so badly. Looked like a world-class player in the making when he was here under Zola

What fee would people be happy to get for Chalobah, considering his age, ceiling, and recent form? £10m?

  34. I Blame Pozzo

I'd ask for £15m given the England cap but would take £10 IF we got a striker.

£10 million !!??? I’d take £2 million assuming we could another cheap Gosling type replacement.
