If we are so desperate to get Chalobah's wages off the books via a loan at the cost of having no midfield cover then Pozzo truly must have bankrupted us.
Surely we could just play left winger Tom Cleverley out of position in the middle as cover until the end of the season?
Can’t see it. Doesn’t make any sense financially and if he was headed up North today to discuss a move away then I don’t think he have posted one of those mundane ‘we go again on Monday’ tweets this morning.
The rumour has spread from a random Newcastle fan's account who claims they've been 'offered Hughes and Chalobah' Didn't happen. At least I bloody hope it hasn't.
Yeah, exactly what we need - another striker who doesn't score goals, can't stay fit and is well past his best.
I don't doubt that there could be some will to get Hughes and Chalobah to go to Newcastle, but if there is any, it's bound to be from agents. Doubt there's much interest from either club for Chalobah, he's a useful Championship option but I'm not sure about him at Premier League level
I actually don't think tonight was his worst game for us, but overall he is still pretty dreadful. If it weren't for his 'reputation', he'd be playing in L1 now I reckon.
Sierralta gave him a pass, pointed to where he needed to put it, Chalobah just ignored him and ran blindly into trouble, resulting in an attack and corner.
One of the many players who can do a job, but needs more flair players around him. I'm sure you could put him in the Brentford team and they'd still shine, but we have Cleverley who is basically a middle distance runner, his doppelganger Gosling, and Hughes who still isn't on it yet (and sure as hell won't be on the left!)
Best game this season? Great goal, but what impressed me most was his pace getting back to put off Murphy, hasn't always shown that since his injury!
What a goal that was and a great performance to match. Can he finally be returning to the form we saw as a young man and briefly under Gravy/Snake,I can't recall which one! Delighted for him.
Absolutely. I'm delighted he's getting back to the form of when we first signed him. The club tried to bin him off in January (another classic Watford decision). So pleased Newcastle were c0cks about the deal and ensured it fell through. Certainly our gain.
In fairness, I said back then that he's done well with the dirty work but that he needs to be more dangerous in the other half of the pitch. This current set-up suits us much better, we've got much more creativity in the team, and Chalobah himself is showing flashes of creativity from time to time
Excellent performance and a really smart goal. Quick feet, great control and a tidy finish. Looks better every time I watch it.
Needs a few more performances like Saturday to make up for a poor season so far. I can count on one hand the amount of good performances he's had. Looked like a different player against Cardiff, maybe the captaincy had some sort of influence on him.
I think you are being rather harsh on Chalobah RS2, IMO he has been playing well for quite a few weeks now and is improving all the time.
Saturday was playing well, he hasn't played like that all season though. He's clearly very talented and at Championship level he should be dominating games but he hasn't. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought that if he had gone in January then it wouldn't be the end of the world. On Saturday he showed pace, power, mobility, maturity and excellent technical ability, where has that been this season? Long may it continue but it's classic football fan behaviour to forget about how crap Chalobah or Masina have been just because they've had a good performance or scored a winning goal. I'm sure I'm guilty of it as well.
It's been a remarkable turnaround from Nate. Happy for us and him, hopefully he and Hughes get tied down to extensions asap.
