Seems that Leicester have been linked with him more than us or Newcastle judging by Ake's name cropping up on the respective forums. My guess is that Ake is genuinely linked with the mahooosive and the Fail have just added two more names from nowhere. I could be horrifically wrong though...

 

They've been extremely accurate reporting on us for a while now tbf to them.

 

So if we get Ake and Berghuis, he can pass to the Dutchie on the left hand side?

 

Home-grown & we could use him as a DM in place of Stam. He's versatile so would also be great for covering left sided defensive positions.

Surely this would have to be a permanent deal to make sense though? Not sure he would get into our 11, unless we had a greater incentive to include him, and his development (and value) would be stunted by not getting consistent football.

Personally don't think he will ever make it at Chelsea either, although prepare to be WT'd on that one.

 

Would be a decent homegrown signing, especially if we could negotiate a purchase price in the loan.

 

I have a personal dislike of anyone called Nathan for obvious reasons.

He hasn't played much football but is apparently fancied for his athletic ability and potential.

I can't claim to have scouted the kid but the attached highlight video is a mixed bag. He seems athletic and willing but the skills are pretty underwhelming. Statistically, he's a good tackler but a poor passer who tends to play the short, safe pass rather than looking for something more challenging.

I don't know how much I buy this. Ake has probably got potential but would you really trust him to hold down a key position for us, even on short term basis? I'd easily rate Capoue, Behrami and Watson ahead of him. He's going to have to make some mistakes under pressure to learn and I don't want him making those mistakes for us especially if the ultimate beneficiary of that hard-won development is Chelsea when they decide he's good enough for them or to sell him for an increased transfer fee. Typically, the Pozzos don't take on loans unless there is an agreed upon option to buy so that if the player comes good, we benefit. If Gino can wrangle something like that at a good number, he's worth a punt but our stakes are too high for us to be helping somebody else up the learning curve. If we are going to go down the "talented but unproven Chelsea product" path (which I'm not recommending), I'd rather gamble on Chalobah who has at least one season of real production, who likes us and who has a strong relationship with Deeney.

 

Chalobahs gone. When will people realise that he'll most likely never emulate that season under us ever again.

Also Ake is more a CB than a CDM I believe, therefore there's no need for "skills" and passing ability won't matter much as he's not gonna be pinging 60 yard diagonal balls.

If he's for sale at a reasonable price I could see the Pozzo's buying him to either go out on domestic loan or to Granada/Udinese for experience.

 

Sounds like a natural successor to Lloyd.

 

Except that for Lloyd even the "short safe pass" was challenging...

Not sure why he is being quoted as a left back now though in the press? I know he plays centre back on occasions but whenever I saw him play, it was in midfield.
