Watford move for Phillips as Liverpool asking price revealed - Sources (footballinsider247.com)
Not a chance we pay more than £5m on a defender, let alone £12m.
Loan with option to buy next summer perhaps?
I only watch the Arsenal so have no idea if he's any good.
I can't believe how little he's played in his career so far. If he was much cheaper I'd probably take him.
Liverpool fans love him. But I’m not sure it that’s because he’s any good or because he’s a cult figure like Dominic Foley was to me.
Young English defender valued at £12 million? Not sure that fits my understanding of the Pozzo model.
Offer Rose and £2m.
One of the great mysteries of life was why GT rated Dominic Foley, despite all evidence to the contrary.
I just saw that, only 36 professional games at 24.
Still remember him smashing that 20yd pearler into the top corner in injury time to beat Barnsley.
What an afternoon. Only beaten by Devon White scoring twice against Oxford on a freezing Tuesday night and doing about 4 laps of honour.
How easily pleased we were in those days...
Was Jerome Sinclair the last "prospect" we bought off the scousers? That worked well.
Worth countering that they’ve all been arguably at a level higher than us.
I know LouOrns doesn’t think he was that good in Bundesliga but my other half’s Dad (she’s originally from Stuttgart) is a season ticket holder and raved about him almost every week.
Star Wars name: Phat Nillips.
A Rose replacement in the dressing room/lunch room?
Imagine training with Virgil Van-Dijk and Mo Salah to then being at London Colney with Fatty Tufan and Ashley Fletcher the next day.
25 in March as well....
Don’t believe we’re going to spend legit money on any defenders. Expect a late loanee to arrive when we’re already as good as relegated.
Wiki has it at 46 although not much better!
Decent stats, although the team he is playing in must be taken into consideration.
Looks like he might be able to fire in the goals needed to keep us up!
He didn’t really standout which is my issue, and being in the second tier of German football, I expected more from the praise he was getting. He does the basics well and that’s about it. Put him in a back three with a deep block and he’ll be fine. But he’s not a better defender than Vida for example
Oh I wouldn’t be paying what they’re asking that’s for sure. Half it maybe (£6m-£7m) and I’d say it’s a reasonable deal.
I’d rather Rodon or Malang Sarr out of the other rumoured loan enquiries but I’d be shocked if we got any of them to be honest. Seems a stacked market for a relatively low number of names if we are trying to get someone from the PL.
Worrying that. But he has age on his side. I can honestly say I've not seen him or taken note of his performances. But the way we seem to be recruiting may mean he's looking at a back three. But a record breaking transfer defensive recruitment for such a small amount of professional games is a massive gamble. A loan with a view is the only way I see it happening.
I'd prefer Rodon but they are saying 20m which is not happening at Watford.
Rhian Brewster anyone?
No thank you,I've just had an espresso!
He’s also not worth anywhere near £20m.
Exactly. An offer of what Spurs paid is the maximum.
I just spoke to my Liverpool supporting colleague and his short reply was a no nonsense defender who is excellent in the air. Doesn't try and overplay and would be perfect for my crappy outfit
He just said go for Williams in defence too. He reckons Liverpool vastly underrate him. Played more time for his country than his club.
Because your Spanish guy is woeful.
Good news, Gino was snapped at Anfield earlier. Done deal?
