I also went (though I returned some time ago) on the same day as you. Sugar Hill Gang were really good, Jesus Jones was a great blast from the past.

Queue for beer never more than a couple of minutes, plenty of toilets, lots of space, easy to get close enough to the stage to see the action, lots of family-friendly fun (fairground rides etc.).

This was our second year and will most likely go again. Last year the lineup was better (EMF, Charlatans, Primal Scream) but still, it's 15 minutes by taxi from my front door, so it's a great day out and easy access.

The dust in the dance tent was insane. Pennfest is great. 2016 was brilliant too. Jesus Jones were good but the tent was too hot to stick around too long for. Noasis as always were good nostalgic fun. Seeing my favourite band of all time in the front row at a festival down the road from me was always going to be pretty special and it didn't disappoint. Not sure how they can top it next year.

Yeah, the dust was something. I had to go home and have a shower, drink as a skunk before I retired. I was caked in it.

Went to one of the early Pennfest and thought it was great. Pleased to hear it's still a nice atmosphere and not horrific for toilets and drinks. Used to live in Amersham and still have a lot of mates who do and they go every year. Sugar Hill Gang, Rappers Delight is in my all time top 3 favourite songs and actually they did some really good stuff. Can't believe they're still going, surely not the same line up?
Very tempted for next year with the kids

One of the original trio is dead but the other two OGs were there.

I think they were also joined by a couple of the Furious Five

Currently holidaying in a small town in the middle of France which is holding a music festival headlined by the UK Subs of all people, I had no idea they were still going - not really my cup of tea so I stayed home and got shitfaced on local wine instead

    Went to Cropredy last weekend.

If anyone gives you the opportunity to go, kick them hard in the balls.

Fish from Marillion was there, acting like music royalty and sounding as crap as ever. The Levellers completely slowed down their set unril it was like listening to a lecture on the ills of society by Gordon Brown. Fairport Convention were the festival hosts and the headline act - they're terrible.

The one highlight - some lads from Barnsley called The Barsteward Sons of Val Doonighan.

Wow, if that was the highlight the rest must have been totally unlistenable!

As a missheard lyric I like the line walking in manpiss and will claim it as my own and use it at every opportunity.

Other than than that it should be renamed Crapredy.

  18. Bloody hell. If Charlie Harper is still singing, he must be about 80. Edit. He's 74. Also reportedly the nephew of Cesar Romero, The Joker in the Adam West Batman series.

This is their only good track.

Two of my very favourite female singers. Tarja Turunen and Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation.

WT are a superb band and have done some magnificent covers like this:

Mrs Willis is a big fan of WT and Tarja in her solo career but I’m afraid their type of music leaves me a bit cold.
Wasn’t Tarja sacked from the band? I don’t know what the story was.

Did you know that Gino Dicampo burgled Paul Young's house. Served time for it and everything. I believe Young lost some irreplaceable awards and such like.

Would anyone on here be interested in doing a 'music club' like a book club - each week someone suggests an album (could be new stuff, an old classic etc.), we listen to it and give our thoughts? I'm bored of all my usual stuff atm.
